Extra week training in July has huge impact

2173

I was concerned about a trip to Estonia after hearing Hearts struggle in their home leg against Estonian opponents last week, so news that Gibraltar’s Lincoln Red Imps beat Flora Tallinn was welcome, although the concern was tempered as news arrived that Hearts were three goals up in the away leg.

The lesson here is that in July, one more week’s training has a huge impact on performance.

Brendan Rodgers will be happy with how training has progressed thus far, but it’s only when players put multiple 90 minutes under their belts that they are ready for competitive action. There’s not necessarily a great deal of work to do to overcome Red Imps (no offence intended), but qualifiers come thick and fast thereafter. Despite beating Slovenian champions Olimpija Ljubljana yesterday, I expect Celtic will be more motivated for Saturday’s game against Maribor.

It gets serious from now onwards.

Interesting but no surprise to hear the SFA have yet to express a view & I doubt very much they will until pressed to do so. They will need to be forced by Uefa issuing a public statement on Res 12 (including new club confirmation. What’s the likelihood?) or by Celtic or other clubs pushing for confirmation?

I think all clubs/fans (not just domestic) have a right to know exactly who they/we are competing against.

Just want to ad my thanks for your hard work, patience & persistence it has been incredible. You guys deserve the truth to be universally accepted more than most.

I only hope you get it.

    Lost in,

The guy has been much maligned. Probably very much a Celtic man. Ironically, the actual huns who come on here are treated with more respect.

    All the best to you.

    Keepin well, my friend?

Murray is a truly great striker of the ball, and, with his natural talent, should have won more majors, and would have, but for (i) timing – facing Djokovic and Federer, and (ii) his fear …. he plays not to lose instead of playing to win. I think Raonic’s time starts on Sunday.

    Hi Mike

Still working through some difficulties but keeping my chin up.

Murray has now overtaken Fred Perry by reaching 11 grand slam finals. This is remarkable in an era when the competition is so fierce. Perry’s most notable opponents were Gotfried von Cramm and Jack Crawford with Don Budge emerging later in his career.

Andy has had Roger, Rafael and Novak to content with.

Fred won 8. If you think about it, how many sportsmen from 80 years ago still have a strong business brand in their name? But Andy must be the greatest British tennis player.

A couple of year ago BRTH wrote a brilliant article about Arthur Ashe who was the first black man to win Wimbledon. One of these days I will find some time to write about Althea Gibson who was the first black woman to win it. Fantastic story.

    I love my tennis history.

A worrying situation is that Marion Bartoli seems to be suffering from an undiagnosed disease which appears to be life threatening just a few year after she won Wimbledon . She is in a bad state just now.

Andy for sportsman of the century.

    Judy for Prime Minister.

Well with all the hype over resolution 12 it may have been missed but we have not added to our squad today is it because players find Celtic difficult to deal with or players dont want to play in our wee country or are we being more selective than usual ? well take your pick its anyones guess. Do you know what action will be taken by UEFA against those at the SFA who made these decisions to allow the license despite the overdue and unpaid tax?

UEFA HAVE NOT ADDRESED THE ROLE OF THE SFA IN THEIR RESPONSE, THAT IS WHY A FURTHER RESPONSE TO UEFA IS NEEDED.

I hope they do not take the approach that they are a new club so do not need to deal with the administrator/ors would allowed this.

THAT SEEMS TO BE THE STANCE AS IF THE NEW CLUB INFO WAS A BONE THROWN TO DEFLECT

Do you know if Celtic plc will now take action against their own governing body to clean up football governance here?

THAT WILL DEPEND IF THEY SEE ENOUGH TO TAKE UP THE CASE. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THE MISMANAGEMENT OF THE DEMISE OF RFC WAS ENOUGH OF ITSELF TO MERIT AN ENQUIRY INTO HOW TO AVOID A REAPEAT NOT JUST A CLUN GOING BUST BUT THE RESPONSE TO IT THAT STILL BEDEVILS THE GAME.

  13. There will be loads of `journalists` in here tonight and wondering how they will tackle it. Then they`ll do as `teverwas. Ignore it. Too busy writing pish about Warbos transfer targets.

“Ironically, the actual huns who come on here are treated with more respect.”

    What is ironic about that?

Would it not only become ironic if disrespectful huns were treated with respect?

Oh, and which “actual huns” have you detected if you are excluding Mats/Pastry/Noakes/Thompson from the list?

  15. Perhaps I am missing the point.,maybe I should just shout squirrel?

So the big headline is that the Huns died and uefa admit it? Sorry but big deal. Scotland will continue tips just ignore that.

Wasn’t this about cheating? Wasn’t it about accountability?

Instead we have a distracting squirrel headline and basically a variety of excuses why it is ok for Celtic not to say anything?

    Is that it guys?

All this nonsense will be buried under us all cozying up to racism in the coming season.

    Seriously is that it?

The big reveal is a giant red squirrel.

For clarification that you say you now seek:

Will it be Celtic who will be requested to approach the SFA? I’m assuming they won’t speak to the requisitioners?

    ======================

No this is our/your baby. You guys paid for it, we aim to provide value for your money but there comes a point when we have met our responsibilities to signatories to the Resolution and can take it no further.

That will be when we respond on your behalf.

We are in pioneer territory here.

  17. What a lot of utter pish.

    Full of wishful thinking spin.

UEFA have avoided an unequivocal answer.

Using the split term club/company allows wiggle room.

The have mentioned. Administration and not the subsequent Liquidation.

The records of UEFA , the SFA , the SPFL , and The Rangers all state they have 54 titles , going for 55.

All UEFA had to do was state GRFC died , there history goes with them .

The new club does not have any right to attach the honours history of the liquidated GRFC.

There has been no such statement.

James Forrest has no power or authority to set any rules .

I mean , who the feck is he?

He is just a Celtic biased Internet blogger.

This whole statement and analysis is an absolute farce.

The Hun media will either mildly ignore it or tear it up for arse paper.

Kid yours on all you want.

Until UEFA make an unequivocal statement then the Hun will continue it’s ludicrous claims of continuity.

Oh ! And attacking me won’t change the perceptions of the neutral or the Hun.

I love my tennis history as well.

Competition for Fred Perry … how about Mr. LaCoste? … and you cant beat the French for nicknames …the Four Musketeers …the Bounding Basque … Le Crocodile …

When I was a young player, I met most of the top players at the time … Borg, Connors, McEnroe … I actually have a booked signed by all three and the late Vitas Geulaitis … to my surprise, Connors was always – by far – the most gracious …. he wanted people to love tennis, and always stopped to sign autographs or talk to young players … he was never my favourite player, but he went up a lot in my estimation after having met him, while Borg (who was my favourite player … after Laver) went down after having met him.

Thanks for the replies, more work needed then, just as a matter interest what action if any have UEFA taken against associations whose clubs have been found to be in breach of regulations following investigation by the CFCB?

Correct me if I am wrong on this, but was the lawyers letter to uefa concerning the sfa and the issuing of a licence to the huns ?

If it was and I understand that Res 12 all along has been about the sfa, the licence and the said governance, they have not answered your initial question and have introduced a squirrel to the equation have they not ?
