The existence of the Premier League International Cup, a tournament for under-21s, which the FA Premier League launched this is a fascinating development. It’s a toe in the water for the Premier League who are running a multi-nation tournament out-with the auspices of Uefa. A consequence of excluding the European governing body is that all games must be played in the territory of England and Wales, despite Celtic and seven others of the 16 teams residing outside that region.
Uefa retain exclusive rights to hold tournaments across multiple territories, although this definition accommodates the existence of the Welsh FA and Welsh teams participation in competitions run by the English FA.
The Premier League has a broken business model which they have been unable to resolve for a decade of more, as they hae studiously avoided growth in their key TV revenue stream stalling. When it does, innovative solutions will be required.
As far as Celtic are concerned, I’m delighted we’re there. In the absence of NextGen this will be a valuable addition to the youth players’ development this season.
Foundation News:
I’m up for the Zip Slide from the top of the Jock Stein Stand to pitch level in front of the Lisbon Lions’. Never done anything as ridiculous in my life but it’s a one-off opportunity for a fee of £30 plus a commitment to raise £125 for the Foundation.
Pile in here, if you’re brave enough for the Celtic Park pitch…………
Not had more than a glance at the annual report yet. Statements dated 12 September? Hmmm.

Bobby Murdoch, not only the prices, but trying to get served at the bar was murder! I ended up in the Crystal Bells watching the second half of the Scotland game. I would rather be with the Cqners, but with my voice being so poor at the moment I felt frustrated trying to communicate as the volume in McChuills was turned to 11. The last hootenanny at West brewery / Phoneix(sp) was great for me as I could at least chat. Sorry for the rant!

Very true, mate. When I saw all the women there,I hoped they were waitresses!
(Sorry,ladies-couldnae resist. You were all most welcome, then and in future!)
Keep 28 March free. An idea has been floated, and somewhat more salubrious surroundings.
As for other similar occasions, alternative venues are always welcome.

Me too. His wage would still be high even if we were a living wage employer.

Out various sponsorship deals, getting invited to lucrative friendly tournaments. That kind of thing.

Possibly all correct. The nagging fear comes back that it could be worse. I’m risk averse. I see that our prize, tv money etc is miniscule. I also see that the fans are down by approximately £10M/season in revenue. How much do we spend in order to counteract that?

Signed and passed on. Mc Tall, may your God Be with you, and keep you and all safe.

Guys like Lawell like the nouse to change the script. Guys like Lawell implement the strategy that the shareholders tell him to. That strategy has been sold as let’s not go the way of Rangers. The strategy may actually deliver the same through the Russian doll trick that is being performed not so subtly. It’s the same club in the same colours only smaller.
We need to change the script or face years of further tumbleweed.

I am up for a Belfast Hootenanny soon. We owe it to the faithful Tim 16roads.
Delaney’s, looking forward to hearing about one of our directors, good things of course.
I’ll hopefully get to see you before the Caley game, the day of the foodbank drive.
My son’s team plays on a Sunday and I don’t know what time his kick off will be on the day of the Killie game. The earlier kick off time for the Killie game means we will be pushing it to get there for kick off.
I’m not having a pop at our far travelling support who can get home at a decent time with the earlier kick off.
DELANEYS DUNKY
I’m happy to coordinate that, though my attendance is not guaranteed.
I’ll be doing my damnedest to get there, mind.
Might have to be a flight to Derry from Bristol, not sure yet.
Have a good sleep all or those on the nightshift, have an easy shift.
BCW
Because I believe we can do better.
Why are attendances falling and tickets are cheaper ?
Why are only players and coaching staff wages falling when the PLCs are being maintained ot deferred?
Where is the incentive for players when their achievements are not even measured ?
Why do we not seek a level playing field or even want to pursue compensation when it has been proven that we have been cheated ?
I could go on all night with legitimate questions that need answered.
That some posters have a problem with that I find funny.
HH
Nope, seems Easyjet do a nice little number to Belfast.
Ok,I’m in!
Dallas
Will be at our wee corner before every game this season. New job brings Celtic watching opportunities. :)
Starting to make the away games again too. :)
Anyways off to bed.
Sleep well bhoys

Blinkin’ flip.
Mind,I thought for years that The Clash wrote all their own stuff!
Don’t have a problem with most of that. I’m also sorry for suggesting that you sell. We, the support, are better together.
Probably a little frustrated by the way the club is just now. Equally though I think they have tried something different in our new manager, wouldn’t you agree? Doesn’t look like it’s working but hopefully I’m wrong.

Am defo in.
16roads here we come!
Fix the scouting.
Reduce the prices
Bring in players of all ages that can build relationships with fans
Stop telling us we need Rangers and start building a fairer league with our competitors.
Build an academy on the continent and employ the best coaches to run it.
Cheers GuyFawkesaforeverhero
Its easier to do stuff now but I still prefer to send the old-fashioned letters.
Are you aware of the Greeting Card Campaign?
Sending cards at xmas can be a really effective way of improving situations.
I’ve very occasionally received replies from prisoners so the letters and cards do get through to them, which is reassuring to know but not as much as hearing of someone’s release.
:-)
Papa John cheers mate

I have bought the Ronny philosophy.
I need to see evidence of it very soon.

Thanks for the confirmation of your position.
I can understand that you company owners really do need to protect your investment. What are you doing about it other than moaning on supporter sites? One suggestion is that you should sell your shares and buy into some other company.
Have you tried writing to the FT letters page or R4 moneybox?
Weeminger
Not simply a question of spending
Perhaps tackling the SFA and exhibiting some integrity would help
Stop alienating sections of the support like the GB
Stop being obsessed with finance …
The product is poor because it’s done on the cheap ….that is apart from the CEO remuneration ….constantly selling our best players and replacing them with crap …..bringing inexperienced management ….has resulted in our previously high standards plummeting ….
We were a last 16 CL side two seasons ago ….now ..we lost 3 and drew 1 in CL qualification against very moderate CL opposition
Big cup winners and Green Pinata (earlier),
Nobody forces the Irish (or any other people) to watch English football. They choose to. The model will continue to grow.
Why should Celtic take the place of an English Spartans type, a club with aspirations?
English chairmen don’t want us. Not because they are scared but we because we are an irrelevance. We can’t even defeat mediocrity from Poland and Slovenia.
Of course I promote Celtic when speaking with my foreign mates, but on here I will say what I feel. How would we cope with being potential EPL mediocrity like Aston Villa?
BCW
yes I am all for the Ronny Revolution. 100%

I’ll be honest, my bottle is going a little. The league is a must, non negotiable.
The Hamilton defeat, and looking at our forthcoming fixtures has me a little worried.

I’m all for a revolutionary approach in the management of the players …but only if it’s practical and effective
Deila is an idealist ….in the pragmatic world of professional football …it’s not working thus far ..

BCW,
Is it a case of trying something different, or just a cheap option?
After all, it’s no secret RD was to be a number two!
He then became our manager after NL walked or was pushed?
I think this is were, us the supporters are getting frustrated and angry, especially watching his inept tactics and the boards lack of financial backing of him.
I’m all for giving him a chance and maybe, I sound too negative but it has been hard to watch lately. HH
DD
Pleasure was mine …shame you didn’t make Bar67.
Cap’n
I didn’t suggest they ate forced, ore forced fed.
the same is happening to Scotland, and our great club will suffer. Celtic are one of the world’s iconic clubs, but we are withering under the onslaught.
Now there’s more to it than English encroachment, but it’s our future supporters that are being targeted by them.
On a more positive note,
With intelligent investment, we have shown that we can compete against the likes of Benfica in the CL. That is what we should focus on.
CRC,
Get your missus to pick your scores and your a stick on :)
Notice the old acrimony starting on the blog again, well here’s a
little lightener.
Since coming over to Oz i’ve found it difficult to settle but my
11year old grandson keeps me going he is Celtic mad so much
so he was asked to do a thesis on any famous person in the world
and he chose Chris Commons, no one including the teacher had
ever heard of K.C but he got an A Plus for in depth analysis, he has
never been to Celtic park but hopefully i’ll get him there some time
soon.
His young mate’s dad a Celt runs the local football team which i started to
help coach and it’s fair to say our bhoys are the best players, think
the Oz boys could do with a season at the Glesga green to
toughen them up a bit, and after a season of getting doings from
big Serbian, Sudanese and Asian teams they won the last game 6-0
Thanks to our lads showing them on their iPads what we were trying
to explain at training and it worked, the Jinky videos being the most
popular thanks to me.
They have already adopted the huddle so next season we will push
the committee to get the hoops strip then watch us go.
Hope that lifts the spirits a bit.

I watched the Hamilton game with EddieinKirkmichael. We were both saying we should have scored 8 on leaving the stadium.
