  1. And yes, Rogne is class. Remember his age again, however, there are bound to be a few shaky moments still before maturing. With this team we are another season away from fielding a competitive Champions League side. I predict footballing European puritan eyebrows being raised when this bunch of youngsters take the big stage.

    Keep them together please Peter…

  2. It’s now we are missing Kayal, as, if he was fit, a lot of pressure would be taken off Wanyama.

Like Forrest and Matthews, his youthfulness has to be taken into consideration and he, like them, needs to be nursed through a season.

As I recall,Phil Collins threatened to leave the country if a Labour government was returned.

I’m sure this had a bearing on the result,as millions of die-hard Tories,Lib-dems and abstainers turned out in droves to put their cross against their Labour candidate.

Just to get rid of the self-important wee scrote.

Worryingly,I think a few people will do the same to get rid of this latest mouthy non-entity.

  5. Is anyone reminded of a young Sean Fallon looking at Kenny Shiels?

Or is it just me and my fading memory?

  6. The default position or “style” of the media is to accentuate the underdog positives and focus on the Celtic negatives.

Kenny Shiels actually pointed out that Celtic were the better side, something that was being lost in the house style amd something he is obviously not use to.

A comfortable enough win and a warning against taking th final as a given.

  7. @Bobby Murdoch

The objective in my comments today has been to attempt some sort of objectivity over the lack of objectivity others are stating in their criticism of players. Get it?

Sorry but imho Rogne is far from being class. For a CB he needs to be far more commanding in the air and to impose himself more on the opposition.

  9. Didn’t listen to the post match waffle but I’ll say

a couple of things in Kenny Shiels defence –

He was the only Premier league manager to speak

up for Lenny last season during the “bombs & bullets” campaign

and he beat the huns a few weeks ago :)

Hope Vic learned summit from todays game. You’re good son but not the finished article yet.

  12. Googybhoy – cup finals at Hampden always made me laugh when we played the huns – no matter what it was always Rangers v Celtic – it was NEVER Celtic V Rangers. A small point but always pointed to their view of us.

Bobby Murdoch – I remember Stephen Hendry promising to leave the country if Labour got voted in – sadly he didnt – I nearly reminded him when I saw him in a restaurant last year.

  13. LC Final on 18th of March? Is that correct? Annoying , if so. I have arranged a visit for someone to Celtic Park for the game against Dunfermline on the 17th of March. The CelticFC site did not indicate that that fixture might be re-arranged if we were to reach said cup Final. Have I got the dates correct?

Good switch at half time by Neil. Big Vic was off the

pace in the first half, unusually for the big man.

No matter what the shortbread lackeys say Celtic were

    the better team throughout.

I would now like to see us sign up big Frazer on a

permanant deal, he made a great double save at a

crucial juncture of the match a sign of a good keeper.

Get him signed Peter, he will be a future England

    international.

  15. Kenny Shiels has his team playing decent football as has Elvis at Falkirk, the only team lagging behind in the rebirth of Scottish Football is the huns…their cheating agenda and influence at the SFA has all but killed the game…

Celtic are at the forefront of a new era in the Scottish game, our style of football has been copied by Shiels and Lennon at St Mirren..

    We are the leaders…

if a player is having a poor or worse, a crap game, should we not substitute him?

Does that make me a hun?

  18. Pressley’s radio comments were an absolute affront.

He just wanted justice at half time after Dods had wrestled Rogne to the deck.

The game was decided on two big decisions that went against them.

Conveniently failed to mention Hoopers disallowed onside goal and the pen Rogne didn’t get when defender tipped his shot on to the bar.

A decent young manager who has his team playing nice stuff but an egotistical oddity of a man. Sutton sums him up perfectly in his recent autobigraphy.

    Well done today Celtic.

What a Paddy’s weekend this is gearing up to be – HMRC announcement on the Friday would be great, Muchos Guinness for St Paddy on the Saturday, Broony lifts the cup on Sunday, and if Mrs Thatcher dominates the news on the Monday well that would be the icing on the cake.

  21. BBC coverage of that game was noting short of embarrassing. They couldn’t have given Celtic less credit if they had tried.

Funny how Falkirk’s team was praised as being “young”, yet the younger Celtic team was never afforded the same compliment.

And at the end, Shiels admitted that the penalty was a correct decision, THEN said it might have been given in Italy (the implication being that we were fortunate to get it) THEN said that our offside goal EVENED THINGS UP!

I mean, apart from the epic failure of logic, what on earth is he talking about?

Every Falkirk punt up the park was greeted with quivering expectation, every small Celtic mistake frowned upon and dissected endlessly. Pressley’s shocking histrionics were glossed over (imagine that had been Neil?), and his laughable interview at the end, for which he deserved to be ripped apart, was actually praised by the loathesome Nevin.

The overwhelming feeling was that everyone (Owen Coyle excepted) was rooting for Flakirk, and considered their one goal to somehow be worth at least three of ours.

Well done Neil and the bhoys, you will get no praise for the victories you win in the MSM however…

With a weekend like that, we could beat Dunfermline 8-0 on the Saturday and still be fresh enough to beat Killie on the Sunday!

  23. Meant to add, Rogne was good today.

Good positional sense and strong in the air.

However, to be a Celtic regular, his distribution must improve, his passing is very very poor at times.

That said, he is on a good run and looking solid with Charlie. With the signing of our Polish CB, have we consigned Kelvin Wilson to the “just never worked out category”?

  25. There were 3 hand ball decisions in that game.

Hooper (I think) was obstructed worse than Rogne in the second half and nothing was given.

The ref let 3 or 4 tackles go in the second half that he would’ve carded in the first.

Play up Refs, play up and play the game…

That was a 4/5-1 game today – no matter how disjointed we were…

Great to meet so many splendid CQNers today, with special thanks to Jobo for keeping us dry.

Thought Falkirk were terrific, a real credit to each other, with Higginbotham the stand out in what is a young, adventurous team that had more of the ball than Celtic, and used it better.

Poor in the main from Celtic, with few garnering any credit from a square game, although it ought to be pointed out that we did score 3, had another disalowed, and hit the woodwork 3 times.

    Odd.

Final to come, and hopefully more besides, but this team needs to find a spark of imagination from somewhere.
