  1. Philbhoy - It's just the beginning! on

    Awe naw……

Big Vic is my player of the year.

however, he was having a stinker in midfield today.

At half time he was switched to cb and put in a reasonable shift.

Had Neil left him in midfield and he had continued to underperform (play badly) then why not substitute him and hopefully improve the teams performance.

    It makes sense to me.

that would be good prep for next season..

Champs league cup final on the Saturday and Scottish cup final on the Sunday…

Philbhoy – When a player has had as many good games as Big Vic, then he deserves to be cut some slack. I would have given him 15 minutes of the 2nd half to sort it out before hooking him.

I certainly didn’t see that move coming from Lenny, when he switched the big man to the back !

We forget how young some of these lads are. They need a couple of quality, experienced players alongside them to help bring them on.

That’s what our inflated squad is missing, but their potential is very exciting.

  4. Good evening friends.

Just in from the game. Quite a few of our team were well below their best today but (cliche alert) that often happens in semi finals.

Thought our captain was our best man.

It was good pre-match to put a few more CQN-names to faces. What a pleasant bunch of folk we all are!

‘Gigging’ at a church unity service tonight at 7.00 so just as well we won ;-)

Well while we were not at our best today if it had been 5-1 to the hoops it would still have flattered Falkirk,The way it was portrayed on TV youd have thought Falkirk were unlucky to lose they were so one sided or biased and I certainly hope Elvis is taken to task for his on feild rants about the penalty at half time then admitting in the interview after the game he hadnt seen it. MOM for me with his 2 goals was Stokes I think him and Hooper look good together and make a formidable partnership.Roll on the final and the treble is still on.H.H.

Great result today even with quite a ropey performance but it happens at times during long unbeaten runs. Could it be an omen that last time we won the treble we kicked it off by humping killie in lcf.

Need a lot better performance next week to put ict to the sword and keep the treble on track.

  7. Googybhoy – it would be pointless. Did you follow the complaints responses from the BBC to the Scottish Cup Final sectarian comments. It went beyond laughable and beyond parody.

BBC coverage of that game was noting short of embarrassing. They couldn’t have given Celtic less credit if they had tried.

You have just reminded me I have got to watch the game yet on tv.

    May make some notes.

  9. twists n turns on

    Kenny Shiels;

“one decision balanced the other one out” in reference to the pen v offside “goal”

Naw it didnae Kenny – it left Celtic at minus 1 correct decision. By the way Kenny, enjoyed your comments in general, and hope you prove true to your word that you “attack” the Old F*rm” We will destroy you at Hampden.

Lenny did his job well today. Spotted the need for changes – made them. Hoopers pace to spin and move to set up Stokesy was wonderful.

Rogne is getting better by the game. Stays fit and he grows and develops further.

Big Fra had another great dbl save today.

Vic was below his own high standards. He is allowed the rare off day – some of the players who have benefitted from his recent efforts duly stepped in to see it didnt prove costly.

I had worries about the ref pre match. Thought he was exc.

Another step to quadrupal celebration taken. (I’m including liquidation to the traditional treble)

We snatch an exc player from under the threadbares nose. More Joy! Coisty said he wanted to pair Brozek and Jelly. Are we signing Jelly??

  10. tommytwiststommyturns on

TBB – what did you think about Gary Hoopers lightning burst of pace to set up Stokesy for the third goal?! ;-)

  11. Strangely open, stretched game almpst from the off.

    All credit to Falkirk.

Despite Hooper’s goal being wrongly disallowed and battering the woodwork they were always in it.

  12. GG

So Jelly for Everton for 3.5 m………and the rest if they win the League, The European Cup, and he scores 100 goals and none from the penalty spot……..

    That’s about right.

if a player is having a stinker against the huns or Athletico Madrid, giving him another 15 minutes in the second half could see us to far behind to recover the situation.

I love big Vic but he’s not above critiscism, substitution, being dropped.

How many managers in the history of football have lost their jobs because they played their favourites no matter their form?

  14. Glad about the result ,but the defence caught out a few times.and this side dont seem to have it in them to go and kill off teams.once they start to try and pass the ball about thats when the problams start,is that a fair assumption.

  15. Just heading home from game to find out we have our striker AND we stole him from ratners!

    Good day all round!

    Yes followed all that.

Had my own complaint in at one point and got the same cold shoulder but we keep them busy.

I have worked in big Govt. bureaucracies and dealing with these complaints are costly. At some point someone very senior has to say why so many? It may be someone outside Scotland but recurring complaints from an articulate minority will eventually see ……

  17. Good evening CQN

Enjoyed meeting a few CQNers in the new plush Gazebo with extremely effective heating (I lost a couple of lbs – the fat bhoys should try it)

Eurochamps, Goldstar, BSR & TBB great seeing you again. Jobo – very nice meeting you, far to brief!

Anyway, thought Falkirk done ok, but some of the gushing praise is a bit OTT. Celtic had a younger team, had an off day and still won comfortably – did anyone feel we were in real danger of losing at any point today ?

Anyway, another victory for the hoops.

A special mention to the guy sitting on sear KK123/4 in Section C1, when it became obvious Stokesy was going to take the free kick, he announced “awe FFS I’ll give ye a tenner if Stokes scores!!!” He completed his announcement just as Tony struck the ball – think there is still a queue waiting on their tenner :-)

Big Victor 67 wasnt at his best today but that happens with young players and occassionaly they need to be rested for short periods I also thought Forrest didnt do a lot and Cha was just poor and Izzy is still struggling with his fitness. However, the history books will show we won the match I would have brought Commons on earlier but Lennie is doing a great job and in Neil I trust .H.H.

I believe it’s made up nonsense to say to the Huns that they are determined to keep the squad together.

Personally I think they’ll be lucky to get 2 million for him, especially after his anonymous showing against us Dec 28th.

  21. Steinreignedsupreme on

I know we already have HD and 3D with Sky at the forefront of that technology, but the Parallel Universe created by BBC Scotland today really was quite something else.

Thank God for Owen Coyle, (I never thought I’d ever come up with that sentence) who actually gave the viewer an accurate reflection of what we were watching at Hampden.

Credit to Falkirk – they play the game in the right way, and the rookie manager at the Huns could learn a thing or two watching them, but they were very much second best today – and despite what Pressley said they were not on the wrong side of poor officiating.

Yet another mature performance from OUR YOUNG TEAM. Keep winning Celtic. Rob MacLean’s face mirrored most of the nation … which was very, very funny.

  23. Just looking at comments and noticed Jellylegs mentioned. I said a couple of days ago Everton would be in the papers as after him. Lets just say agents have pestered Everton non-stop about a deal…

  24. Lads Pressley knew what he was doing with them comments, when the interviewer asked him are you saying celtic and rangers get the big decisions he said no but then laughed.

    I was expecting that.

The “just one sheep” relentnessness of CQN.

  27. Well deserved result in the end. The big decision was Ki coming on at half time and Vic going to the back – well done Neil to see the issue with Izzy and make this change early. The team certainly looked in better shape from then on and, despite a couple of wee scares we always looked like winning in the 2nd half.

In defence of Pressley, happy to see a passionate manager with his team playing a passing and moving style of game. The galling thing is how this is handled by the commentary team at the BBC – Neil would have been (has been) slaughtered for less. Kenny Sheils wasn’t all bad either – I liked his pointed dig at ‘when you’re asked a question by the Scottish Press’ – he knows what they’re like and isn’t afraid to bite back.

Highlight for me was Hooper’s spin, touch, sprint and cross for the 3rd goal. Sublime bit of football and not focussed on enough in the post-match analysis.

we ARE getting there albeit it all seems a little laboured, but, the important thing is that we ARE getting there. Will be interesting to watch this side (with the new additions to come in and out) when they have the league title under their belts. Confidence is a wonderful asset to add to youth, and we ARE a very youthful side.

I also believe the management side will benefit hugely from bringing the title home to CP. They are also a very young managerial team in respect of time in the role, and a title win would see a huge pressure lifted. Pre season would become fun, and this group of management and players could go on a winning title run over a few seasons.

If we had a few 30 yr olds, say a few like Keane, the payback would be immediate I believe, but would be temporary. What we are seeing here and now is a group of apprentices learn their craft, and a group who could deliver for years to come. The age of the team is such that we should only need to add perhaps 1 player every window for a few years.

I’m encouraged. I think we all should be encouraged.

  30. GG,

    Chum,

I agree. The guy is no Sebo, he has moderate talent but is largely unremarkable, certainly not worthy of the dubious, partial hyperbole much beluv’d of the scoddish meeja. If they get the money the ‘paid’ for him they’ll be lucky……He’ll evaporate in the EPL…..

But, I hope he stays and compicates their precarious cash-flow issues……………

  31. Well, after today i think we can safely ‘put to bed’ any notion that if ‘Rangers’ fold or

have to play in a lower league, it will be catastrophic for the future of Scottish football, and the other clubs in the SPL, and lower divisions! If you were listening to the BBC commentators, those in the ‘studio’ nothing could be further from the truth. If Falkirk are only second from the top of their respective League, then judging by the amount of ’drooling’ (or should that be droning), that emanated from those ‘worthy souls’ throughout

the game, as to how well Falkirk played, and they soooo young!, is proof positive that the ‘future bodes well’ for Scottish football! I take my hat off to Falkirk, they played well’

and deserve to credit for their performance to day! I am sure they will have better days ahead, and i wish them well. (enough said!). The team that won today are ‘CELTIC’, players who play for us have to be made from ‘girders’, and they will carry with them each day of their playing career with us, ‘THE KNOWLEDGE’. Once they sign on the d.o.t.t.e.d. line for us, it is revealed to them! You will always have to play harder to just stand still, you will have to endure the crudest of tackles, you will always have to score extra goals {expect some to be marked off!}, the MIB will never give you benefit of any doubt, you will be spat upon, regularly, by “The Media’, you will constantly misquoted, HOWEVER!! , even, you carry with you that sign of ‘greatness’, it’s called ‘The Hoops’. Wear it with pride and a swagger, for you are one of the ‘chosen ones’, and years from now, when you have retired to your just rewards, we shall still be here,

    and we shall remember you!!!
