Familiar failings

232

There was eniugh evidence on show last night to confirm Celtic’s Pot 2 opponent was on the softer side.  Despite this, our failure away from home in the Champions League continues.

Without Cameron Carter-Vickers we were always going to need everything to go our way.  After two successive VAR verdicts denied Leipzig a goal, you would be forgiven for thinking this was the case.  A familiar offering of a cheap goal put paid to that.

Disappointing though the result was, qualification for the knockout stages remains in Celtic hands.  Home wins in the next two games against Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk should be enough.

We should ask no less from Ange and the players.  Both opponents are vulnerable and miles off their best.

  1. HOT SMOKED @ 5:09 PM,

    Why bother?

Well now, there is an inight.

A little while ago on here you made me out to be a liar, I proved that was false, not only did I not get the apology that was the least I deserved, you did not even acknowledge it.

    That told me a lot!!

It is why I have a smirk in my face when you go calling out the trolls and taking the moral high ground.

There has always been posters on here getting under peoples skin, Kojo and his coterie, Kev Jungle and many, many more, it has been the way of things on CQN from the beginning.

Yet you call for the moderator to do more, then when a moderator comes on and does his thing you have a pop at the moderator because it wasn’t to your liking.

Of course you may be another here today gone tomorrow poster calling the shots here it is nothing new, taking no personal responsibility for their actions and wanting to create a “list” of what is acceptable to you.

Why don’t you leave the housekeeping of the site to those who run it. They’ve done okay without you for many a long year.

Now do I get my apology or are you not going to bother!?

    Hail Hail

    Omonia 1-0 Man Utd

In case you’re wondering how good Omonia are… they finished in the bottom half of the Cyprus league last season and have lost two of their opening five league games this term..

    Our journey continues. HH.

  4. Call out cheating and diving every single time, its ruining football, and enabled by useless referees, if a ref doesn’t buy a dive early in a game, and tells them to get up,or books them, it becomes a totally different game.

  5. Tom McLaughlin on

    BADA BING

    Correct.

My pet hate is players who go down clutching their face or head, usually accompanied by a loud scream, at the slightest little connection with a flailing arm, hand or fingertip. Happens in every game.

In such cases the referee is in a difficult position because it’s the head and he can’t risk calling it play-acting. In most cases, an action replay reveals it to be a light, harmless contact. Not every time obviously.

Joe Hart was guilty of feigning just such an injury last Saturday v Motherwell. Not his finest moment.

  6. My friendsinCeltic,

    This is Ange.

“It’s not about the mistake, that can happen. Before then we had a lot of the ball and we were just passing it back to him for no reason. You are doing what you think is safe but it’s not really who we are. First half, we played the ball through the lines. Sometimes we would make a mistake but that’s okay, you are making a mistake trying to be positive. I just felt that it was creeping in before that. After we scored and got level we almost wanted to settle for that and kept passing the ball back to him, I could see it coming. If it wasn’t Joe it wasn’t going to be someone else because when you enter survival mode, the best you will do is survive. When you fight your way back into a game, like we did, you don’t want to just survive it – you want to find ways to hurt the opposition more.” – Ange Postecoglou.

  7. A bit of pragmatism required I think.

Sure we are the best team in Scoddland, and will win the majority of trophies about. We have some great players, but great where, here in Scoddland.

We have seen it time and time again, we cannot do it in Europe. Frankly, we are not good enough sadly.

Financially, again we are big here, but comparison to other European Leagues I’m afraid we are very small beer indeed.

Still love Celtic to bits though

  9. After we scored and got level we almost wanted to settle for that and kept passing the ball back to him, I could see it coming.

if ange could see it coming why wasn’t he screaming at his players to get a grip with what he was watching and change it

  10. Evening all.

My bottom lip is all bruised from booting it.

In better news, CONEYBHOY good to see you posting.

Hertz down 1:0 already, think they will take a humping here

    all joking aside,

I commented yesterday that it is funny saying to zombie huns, you would be better off in the europa league for the co-efficient.

    herts aint helping either.

hopefully we win next two at home, just dont get beat ffs.

but seriously it is pitiful when scottish teams meet anbody.

Coneybhoy, nice to see you young fella.

BelmontBrian, always available for selection as you know apart from 17-22 October. Dublin and Kelso races. It’s a hard life being a jetsetter, gambler and an elderly drunkard. A man needs a hobby.

  13. A top German club having a poor start to the season does not a poor team make. RB Leipzig have won all three League games at home, 2-0, 3-0 and 4-0 and played quite well away in Madrid. No mugs. That said they only have three points in the CL after playing two games at home. Assuming, and hoping for now, that Real keep winning, we can still be in Europe after Christmas. If we can pick up points. Need to play better than of late. Could make all the points already made on here post match but no point in looking back in anger. Disappointment is bad enough.

  14. Guys in the huddle breakdown did an interesting podcast today discussing whether Angeball contains systematic failings at this level of football.

If we concede another three goals at CP against Liepzig then we need to tweak the system to cater for higher level opponents. You won’t win in Europe conceding three goals.

I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain? J.C Fogerty 1969. Well John, it’s kept me trapped in the pub for 6 hours. Pissing down outside.

  16. a really different problem, that needs a 2nd opinion, where are BlantyreTim and HamiltonTim when you need them.

She informed the company in January 2020, the flat was handed back on the same day. The energy company asked relationship to the occupier, daughter.
