I know we have Hibs in the League Cup on our mind today but would like to look ahead to Saturday. The umbrella group, Fans Against Criminalisation, have organised a rally in GEORGE SQUARE before our home league game against Hibs. I asked the group who they were, what their objectives are and why we should go along on Saturday, and was very impressed with their answers:
“Fans Against Criminalisation is a campaign group founded by five fan organisations (Green Brigade, Celtic Trust, Celtic Supporters Association, Affiliation of Celtic Supporters, Association of Irish Celtic Supporters Clubs). The campaign was formed on the back of the Green Brigade’s well-received protest at the Inverness game and after many previous discussions between the organisations about the Bill. We decided to come together to campaign against the Bill.
“Our objective is to ‘Kill the Bill’, the first part which deals with ‘offensive behaviour at football’ anyway. We have no problem with the government trying to tackle societal problems like sectarianism but these are not football’s problems alone and where sectarian crimes are committed then existing laws can be used to arrest and prosecute offenders. The new law goes far beyond sectarianism and captures anything that may offend or may cause disorder. This is only applied to football fans and it is ludicrous given that there is little or no disorder in Scottish football grounds and that routine aspects of football rivalry and tribalism will now be criminal offences. Government ministers have said fans who do anything from blessing yourself to singing a national anthem could fall foul of the proposes new law.
“The Government has shown little interest in fans’ views on the Bill. F.A.C. will be campaigning vigorously over the coming weeks and months and will be making our views heard. If the Bill passes then we will continue to protest against it, and challenge it legally and politically. The Celtic support is a very powerful potential constituency and the Scottish Government should be mindful of that.
“The rally is the starting point for the campaign. We need Celtic fans to get along and show their support for the campaign and add weight to our voice. We’ve asked people to assemble at 12.00 and the demo will start at 12.30 with speakers from the campaign. There’s no headline acts – Saturday is simply a time for ordinary Celtic fans to come together and unite against the Bill; a time to come together and send a message to the politicians that we will fight them all the way. Everyone should be doing their best to get along to George Square on Saturday and say no to the Bill.”
If at all possible, get along on Saturday and register your support.

I was driving along London Road this morning and noticed that there is a contractor doing some re-surfacing work to sections of the car park. Two issues here:
1. The gazebo isn’t there. Knowing these thoughtless contractors they’ve probably skipped it.
2. Are Celtic paying for these works? If so then surely big Georgios and Bango could be given a couple of shovels and high-vis jackets and instructed to help out.

I’m with you – Brown has always had me in a dilemma, do I want him to stay or not. He’s a trier, and is very vocal on the park, but next to no natural ability and doesn’t bring much more to the table when he does play. If anyone wants to spend that kind of money on a player with his injury record, then let them be.

Seems a bunch of guys with too much time on their hand. There are much bigger causes to fight than this pash.
My take on it is if one behaves like an adult then there is little to fear. The nupptie boys in mens bodies who for example – take time to produce a huns banner (why????) might well find some trouble. Or the idiot firing the vick sign or misusing blessing (as act of annoyance rather than peace) they probably need educated – along with idiots who, on recieving end get heated up I may add.
Scotland really does continue to amaze me with its small town mentality and lack of big picture seeing. We are in midst of terrible economic crisis and protesting about this tosh. :-/
It looks like some drug-addled loafers have put up a handful of pup tents in George Square.
Let’s hope they are moved along pronto. Once you allow hippies to set up a drum circle, it attracts other hippes and the drum circle grows exponentially until the smell and the noise forces real people to abandon the city. (thumbsup)

Ki – most important outfield player for this game.
McCourt – we need creativity. Commons currently rubbish and injured, Forrest looks spent. Play Paddy in the hole.
Stokes – this seaosn’s best striker.
Samaras – remains one of our best players. Would thrive with a clever player like Paddy behind him. Start him, let the away support buck up his confidence. He scores – we have a striker back on form.
It is with great regret that I have to bid farewell to CQN. I do this with a heavy heart, but the wife says I have been a right p*ick recently.

I imagine the protesters on Saturday will have be well represented at the rallies on 30th November and were probably at the TUC rally earlier in the year. People who protest generally have enough brain capacity to be able to see that there are various causes worth fighting for. Taking to the streets is one of the last legal methods people have available to them. It highlights problems. The real action should follow – in the courts most likely in this case.
So I hope you express your concern at our economic ‘crisis’/ bank bailout inspired deficit by getting involved in the mass action planned for the 30th November this year and then the follow up actions to be taken afterwards.
As for your take on ‘adult behaviour’ – fair enough there are some really stupid things done by people at the fitba but if you can’t see that this is yet another attack on the spaces where working people can assemble and express common beliefs or values then you need to open your eyes.
This is a worthwhile cause in my opinion. We are in a period of worldwide protest against attacks on workers and working people. The law is already stacked against us (you try organising a strike for example and you’ll find out all about anti-worker laws) – we are all being funnelled in to the main stream. I admire anyone who attempts to fight that.

If M.Wilson is out of contract (not sure of this) it might explain why he never features and he will be sold in January if they can do it.
Majstorovic and Loovens should not be offered another deal – one is too old and the other is consistently a bombscare. We might get a million for Loovens if we a re very lucky.
Brown is prime candidate to meet the CEO’s break even every transfer window’s policy so he will go and 4M will not be reinvested if previous experience is anything to go by.
We are still stuck with Rasmussen and Hooiveld and now Bangura as well unless he comes good.
