Fantastic result from Celtic Park

757

It was a fantastic result from Celtic Park last night for Scotland’s poor who are dependent on food aid.  Fans arrived in droves before kick off with bags full of provisions to restock food banks across the region.

I can sympathise with the SPFL to an extent.  Without a sponsor, they are even more dependent on satisfying television, and satisfying television often involves making unpopular decisions, but the mess they’ve made of scheduling the final Championship fixtures of the season is deeply embarrassing for our game.

Our game is looking more and more like it’s being run like a Banana Republic.  Generalissimo Doncaster has a case to answer.

I’m pretty sure no one at Celtic considered Leigh Griffiths as their number one striker when he signed a year ago.  That he has become so, is as much a result of his forward competition failing to deliver as much as his own talents, but there’s no denying Leigh’s ability.  He’s turned into a vibrant, productive striker who scores all types of goals.

I think I’m reasonably aware of that. It’s only an opinion. I was a bit disappointed at what seemed to me to be a lower level of collectivity than I was expecting. Perhaps my expectation was too high.

What a good idea….why not indeed.

  5. On the sad death of Karen Buckley, is a sad day for all her family. A young girl out on a night out, some on here have daughter’s and it is a worry, son or daughter leaving the nest. This type of “murder” is rare, it happens, doesn’t make it any easier.

In 1999 a young 18 year old boy Barry Wallace, a young fit boy, was murdered in Kilmarnock by William Beggs….

Just remind our children, both boy and girl, it can happen but not often and always keep safe. There’s more good than bad out there.

In which case you should be demanding that the chairmen of all SPL clubs get together and demand his removal due to his repeated incompetence.

This one instance in his ridiculous basket of failures has nothing to do with Celtic.

  9. Sometimes I wonder what people expect to happen once PL makes a stand and calls out corruption.

It will be as much to do with the messenger as much as anything else. The rest of Scotland don’t like us and think that the authorities favor both us and the orcs.

The only thing PL would gain is some credit from his own fans. Some of whom will never be happy.

  10. BBC website rigorously accurate as usual:

“SPFL chief executive Doncaster had said on Thursday morning that it was an.obvious decision for Hearts vs Rangers to be on Sunday 3rd May for broadcast coverage, and that Liberia could request to move their tie with Celtic to the same day.”

Their tie with Celtic? Don’t tell me Sky determine who’s going to be in the cup final? And the day it’s going to be played?

  11. I for one thought Griffiths would be our number 1 striker – his stats have always backed that in both assists and goals. Commons is the only player who was more productive.

Are the wheels coming off at the SPFL?

Producing the fixture list is one of their core responsibilities. At the moment we have:

Chaos involving the final round of fixtures in the Championship. First one fixture was moved to the Sunday giving a potential advantage to one of the clubs seeking promotion. Then the announcement from the SPFL that they don’t see what all the fuss is about and an invitation to clubs to apply to move their fixture if they want which led to the inevitable happening with Falkirk saying no. Then all the fixtures being moved to an earlier slot on the Saturday to accommodate both television and fair play (which it was originally claimed wasn’t an issue). Farce

We also have the potential for a fixture problem to occur with either Hibs or Falkirk should the team that wins their Scottish Cup Semi final also make it to the play off final. The present scheduling would require that team play the two legs of the playoff final on the Thursday and Sunday either side of their Saturday cup final.

Finally, why was the Dundee Utd v Inverness fixture not played last night? As we play at dens park next Wednesday it cannot be then. With no date announced yet will this fixture now be played after the split? If so, why are Celtic playing two midweek league games either side of cup semi final and on designated Champions League nights.

The SFA have already said they won’t hold clubs responsible for fans setting off flares and fireworks. They have ignored Celtic supporters using them at league games.

It’s UEFA who have a problem with it.

Well that’s something Sevco won’t have to worry about for a long, long time. Maybe ever!

I have advocated a cleansing of the SFA stable for a long time.

Maybe if there was a common front against the corruption, we might get somewhere.

You are right, it doesn’t directly concern Celtic, however, im in no doubt that a collective campaign against the shenanigans of the SFA, headed by PL, the SFA stable would be cleansed pronto.

Speak out now….they have been cheating Celtic for a long, long time.

Shortbread (Keevins) last night on the way to the game arguing that Scottish Football wont get a sponsor until the Huns are in the same league as Celtic, nae wonder with that rocket running the SPFL, self detonated (copyright James Forrest) by him and Regan talking down Scottish Football with their Armageddon nonsense.

The huns at the SFA are frantic at the thought, that their beloved team might not make it to the big league…and so, Hey Presto, heres another wee trick.

  23. First thing the SPFL should be doing is demanding a population representational share of the UK BBC budget for highlights packages.

If we did this we would be better off to the tune of around £5m per year.

From there we are in a much better position to get a fair deal from Sky. We can say “we get £6m per year for our weekly highlights – we expect live games to generate 5 or 6 times this over the course of a season”.

If we’re better together then why don’t we get a proportional share of tax-payers BBC funds?

  24. Finally, why was the Dundee Utd v Inverness fixture not played last night? As we play at dens park next Wednesday it cannot be then. I asked this a couple of days ago, very strange decisions indeed, even John Hugh’s said he couldent understand why Celtic where playing, and as he said, “they must have been forced to? Very strange indeed ?
