‘Reading back last night- this hun trait of playing the man and not the message. Chris Sutton is only saying in an intelligent manner what we all see. he rightly criticises us when we are deserving of criticism. he rightly praises us when we deserve praise. Reading some of the comments on here about a true celtic legend makes me sick. ‘-

    Agreed.

I assume the posters are either very immature or a bit thick. Or maybe both.

Surely, Commons must know why Neil left ?….and, why Roy Keane poked his head through the Celtic Park door and….whatever he seen…made him run for the hills ?

Keane was up for the job at Celtic Park, so he popped in here for a bit of positivity on how the supporters felt, your post was the first one he read, AND THEN! Headed for the hills, allegedly :))

  4. Personally, I thought Sutton was a fantastic player he did his talking on the park, and he should have left it at that, he dances to the pipers tune as far as I’m concerned, IMO.

  5. Funny how much fuss there is regarding flares.. I think Ajax hooligans have done more damage in Europe than flares.

It not the effect on the crowd but on the reputation of Celtic as a club that the repeated childish behaviour of a few of our ‘fans’ has resulted in this type of sanction, never mind yet another financial penalty.

How long ago was it we were winning awards for fan behaviour? Won’t happen again as long as these numbnuts are attached to the club support.

If DD and PL want Celtic in the CL, they are going about it like halfwits.

That underground bunker where they keep all their loot, is like Aladdin’s Cave.

Surely they should just retire ffs.

Scrooge would be embarrassed by the Celtic board, he would be amazed how greedy they are:)

Gordon and Ciftci are not exactly what you call progress.

I know what your saying but…if there’s any comeback from Uefa about the flares…then, Celtic should ask them to point out a particular game in Europe were there were no flares.

But, Celtic wont fight….they’ll roll over then send in the black & tans to smoke out the GB…assuming that, the GB will be blamed for it…..and they will.

So does Rotavator. And it would do a better job on the pitch than Ciftci at the moment!

That’s being a bit unfair on him. We all saw how he performed for Utd last season. A nuisance, and an excellent scoring record.

The problem,as many pointed out,was that it was his first season like that. Beforehand,he’d been rank. So,seems he’s a striker who thrives on the confidence that scoring brings. And team-mates who can provide him with goal-scoring chances.

Well,he’s not going to get that at CP,judging on his performances so far. And I’m not sure it’s fair to upset the rhythm of our development Saturday by dropping him in there for some game time.

So,pens out. Get the letters written to Santa, please can you bring our new striker some confidence and a few hat-tricks.

Look, why not? That’s as likely to work as continuing to play him without any supply.

  11. How fickle we can be.

I admit I was not in the Camp initially welcoming CG with open arms. Mainly due to his long lay off and previous injury problems.

I was wrong, in general he has been a good signing.

The very same people who said it was a coup and magnificent signing replacing FF with CG are now lambasting him and the people who signed him.

Craig Gordon needs a rest, but not retired. Yet.

Celtic could face further sanctions from UEFA after travelling fans set off flares during last night’s 1-1 draw in Turkey against Fenerbahce.

Since 2011, Celtic have been in trouble with UEFA on seven occasions – and this latest indiscretion could lead to a punishment that is more severe than a financial penalty.

There have been suggestions previously that a partial stadium closure could be the result of further incidents and it remains to be seen what action is taken following last night.

In March this year, Celtic were fined nearly £9,500 over two charges of misconduct during their Europa League second-leg meeting with Inter Milan.

A penalty of £5,860 was imposed for “improper conduct” on the field as well as a £3,600 punishment for flares set off by fans at the San Siro.

Virgil van Dijk had been sent off for two bookable offences, while five other players were turn to page 46 booked in the 1-0 defeat, indiscipline that UEFA fined the club for.

Earlier this year, Celtic were fined £7300 for supporter behaviour at Dinamo Zagreb.

Meanwhile, Hoops boss Ronny Deila believes that he is still the right man to take Celtic forward.

For the first time in their history, Celtic have finished a group stage of a European competition without a win. Deila, though, believes that he is capable of guiding Celtic into the group stages of the UEFA Champions League.

“I am enjoying the job and there are a lot of domestic things we want to achieve and be ready for next year,” he said.

“It’s the small things we have to improve on, both on the ball and better playing in behind.

“In defence we need to pressure better and keep concentration for 90 minutes. That’s what’s important in Europe.

“I have confidence in this group, that we can do it and we’re going to show it. This club can do it but it’s a selling club, it’s a club that want to build up talents. We want to be among the big teams and that’s in the Champions League, of course.

“This year, we have conceded too many easy goals. We have scored goals. It’s small things that have to be better to get the results we want.”

And Deila also explained the error from Craig Gordon that allowed Fenerbahce to open the scoring through Lazar Markovic.

“It was a difficult situation,” Deila explained. “Craig was thinking that he was coming first on the ball and then he was taking his legs a little bit out.

“He didn’t touch it, maybe because he was afraid to meet the goalkeeper and it’s gone through his legs.

“That can happen in a football game but he had a couple of very good saves as well.”

Fenerbahce’s Diego, who had earlier clashed with Stefan Johansen, was dismissed for a kick on the Celtic midfielder and substitute Kris Commons headed Celtic level.

“Things turned around on the red card and also we brought on fresh legs and creative players,” added Deila.

“We got our goal and I’m very satisfied with that. We had three good substitutes and we turned it.

“The back four defended well, on the ball we can be better and also in the midfield – play passes forward instead of playing sideways and backward.

“These are things we have to work on. Overall, it’s a good performance and a good result. To get something from Fenerbahce is tough.”

The overwhelming number of games have no flares, and as I said, it doesn’t matter what other clubs do.

‘Whataboutery’ has no place at our fine club – we stand or fall on our own performances on and off the park – what others do is irrelevant and no excuse for our behaviour.

In my job, it was important to read the hidden meaning in what was being said. Over the years, I honed this skill to such a fine level that I am now able to see what few others can. Using this talent, I can reveal that Nadir Ciftci is not revered by some Celtic supporters.

Talking of `revealing`. Has Catman said any more about someone going OUT from Celtic?

  18. The best result last night would have been a ‘good hiding’ – 1-1 only papers over the plethera of cracks and allows the management team more digging- time in the hole.

When the new manager does come in, the first thing he will say is “I have nothing to work with and morale is on the floor”

Ronny was a brave, and could have been an inspired choice; it’s not working and he knows it – change before the new year is now a must.

Strongly agree on Chris Sutton. I think he criticizes because he cares. We all know that we have generally been very poor in Europe and the shortcomings haven’t all been down to one off mistakes but have also included how the team has been set up (especially away).

How many of these players make a strong contribution to the `plethora` of mistakes of which you speak:

I heard Warburton speaking on that topic and he was a lot more reasonable than The Clumpany article portrayed him. Also, Sevco are not one of the best teams in Scotland but they ARE one of the two BIGGEST.

I usually like The Clumpany but I did not think this was one of his better articles. Warburton comes over as a decent fella. It is not his fault that the MSSM elevate him as they do. Also,he should not, as far as I know, be tarred with the sins of Oldco and Newco.

  29. Easy for Me to say on

Usual negativity here today. Theres no doubt that RD appointment is an experiment. Hopefully he has next season to rectify the European peformances. Hopefully this season we see a good confident build towards that, good football, positive results, even a treble? This was the time for the board to experiment. Not a lot they can do about the income we receive. Look at the EPL and Man Utd, a manager who has spent £250m and plays the worst football ever seen. What are we expecting with our income?

We should give Ronnie this season and next. See what he does, he may just surprise a few….
