  1. Morning,

Agree that the loss of VVD ( and there was no way he was staying) and Jason Denayer ( who would have been back had we put Malmo away) has caused us dearly.

An experienced Central defender – with no sell on value – who is of champions league standard – would be near the top of my January shopping list.

The up side from last night is that the detestable Ajax are out.

Don’t forget to check out cqnbookstore.com for Celtic books and DVDs – the three books we put together this year are all really good reads. They are The Winds of Change – managing Celtic 1991-2005, Celtic The Early Years by Brendan Sweeney and Scott Brown – My Celtic Story which is the number 1 selling product at Celtic stores. We have sold out twice but have another 100 copies available now. This number usually sells out in a day.

It seems every young Bhoy is getting this book from Santa.

  3. Whoops just noticed your “canny prove it” comment in which case it’s your opinion, glad we’ve cleared that one up

  4. Thought our defence did pretty well , jozo few miss placed passed but did well against a big handful striker.

Boyota had decent game and was well involved in our goal..there is a good defender in him.. We just have to be more supportive and allow him to make the odd mistake here and there.

Tierney was very good again, his tackling is excellent but again tired after 70mins.. Hopefully he is pumping the weights in the gym.

Johannson was very average and wasn’t the best bitton has played for us, cifcti like most of us thought isn’t going to be a Celtic player.

So all in all draw was good result considering brown and Griffiths were not playing.

McGregor ..he had quiet game but I thought when he was on the ball he was one of our more comfortable players.

Armstrong .. Is not a left winger. Hopefully the gaffer realises that..soon.

  5. Proudbhoy

    Agree with all of that.

Boyatta’s pass to listig for the goal was excellent. Imagine the (deserved) plaudits had young Allan made the pass?

Armstrong I feel for. Thought he’d come and flourish. He really hasn’t though playing left wing and injuries must have taken their toll on that hope. Fingers crossed but…

  6. Boyata’s strength is his bravery and sense of leadership, For an inexperienced defender he does a lot of talking and organising.

But his passing has not suddenly improved. Minutes before that pass to Lustig he sent a simple 20 yard pass to McGregor on the sideline out for a throw 5 yards away from Calum.

He is still a risky passer but he has the mental strength to keep going even after fans have howled at his mistakes. That is fast becoming a necessity for players who are going to make it at CP. Shame is if we lose out on some talented youngsters who have not yet developed that thick skin (GMS comes to mind).

  7. Peter Grant did a lot of – talking and, organising – he was one of the pishiest players that I have ever seen in a Celtic jersey, and….every manager who played him…ended up sacked…as a loser…oh, and I think that almost all of the managers that he assisted got the sack…..oh, and I’d guess that he personally trimmed at least five years off the maestro’s career…… !?!?!?

    The pointing johnna – CSC

  8. a light insanity on

I thought the defence looked good. Boyata took a few chances but to me that is a sign that his confidence is growing. See the system Deila has used – is it not outdated? Most teams can combat it and there are better ones out there.

In your opinion because I have fond memories of Pointer and thought he was immense in the centenary seaon. He was unlucky with injuries and, as with the Maestro, being at Celtic during one of their worst times. All about opinions.

  11. A cutey Celtic manager would have moved the maestro back to play as sweeper…ala, John Clarke behind Billy McNeill.

Why do we need two ch’s ?

Can we no get one with a sweeper playing behind ?

How can we no play with two diamonds ?

A diamond at the back – two full backs -a sweeper – CH ?

A diamond in midfield ala – Wims diamond in midfield ?

And, most important of all…..two strikers up front – together or, one behind he other continually changing positions to baffle our opponents…why is that so difficult ?

How many chances are created for the one striker ?…hardly any…making the striker look like a numpty when, that is so……..wrong.

Anyway…..Celtic FC will toil…until they’re rescued and, restructured by a Jeanette Findlay led consortium of, rebellious Celtic Supporters who wont kowtow to the hun establishment.

Sit on next season’s Season-Book-Money and, inform the hierarchy that….the ‘only’ way that the SBM will find it’s way into the club will be in exchange for….control of the club….if, the hierarchy play hard-ball….call their bluf and, tell them to get on with it then…running the club with their ‘own’ money….then, and only then…will you see what type of person that you have blindly trusted for all of these years since, wee tyrannical McCann ‘plasitked’ the club that we all love so dearly…no amount of fancy paintings around the entrance will change that….get them oot….or, the big-bad-died-hun-orcs…will be back to put you in yer place at the back of the bus and….resume, cheating the erses aff yeez…..please dont allow that….please.

    Anyone notice this last night.

After Commons scored – Ciftci said something to him- Commons effectively blanked him?

    What was that about?

  16. Reading back last night- this hun trait of playing the man and not the message. Chris Sutton is only saying in an intelligent manner what we all see. he rightly criticises us when we are deserving of criticism. he rightly praises us when we deserve praise.

Reading some of the comments on here about a true celtic legend makes me sick. Just because he won’t give a compliant SMSM type analysis to make everyone feel cosy when a blind man can see the club is coming apart at the seams.

if henke came on and told the truth, i take it the same guys would be giving him pelters calling him a soup taker. I even read someone calling Joe Miller a soup taker once. Probably some bam from outside glasgow who thinks he’s uber because he has a celtic calendar.

if anyone can give a single quote from last night – a single quote – where sutty was being unfair – lets hear it. otherwise please stop slagging celtic legends.

saying Craig Gordon was expected to save the shot that he tipped onto the post isn’t a slur on celtic by the way.

Hail Hail fella, I hope yer well.

I think that….maybe….you’ve stumbled across a sort of – zonal attacking – philosophy that might be at play here ?…Maybe Ciftci saying something along the lines of – “That is ‘my’ attacking area that you were in there!”

I might be wrong but….for the life of me…I still canny work oot what this Ronny guy is all about ?

Is he just a puppet-manager till the huns come back and then he’ll be offski to some job that appears at that time, maybe an International job.

Canny shake it but…to me, Ronny is the Celtic manager to ‘kill’ time….just like, Liam Brady.

Yes. At 1st I thought it was to do with the goal but then in the replay Ciftci celebrated just as much.

I think he was saying to Commons ‘watch for my runs’ as he did an ‘eyes’ gesture and then ‘walking fingers’ and then as you say Commons appeared to dismiss him. Which didn’t seem very team spirited.

Commons is a decent player but that kind of thing worries me. Ciftci isn’t good enough but it won’t help him be better if they can’t communicate on the pitch.

Listened to P67 on radio shortbread earlier. Sounds like Lawwell’s self preservation instinct kicking in… Devils survival will be based on his plans for January apparently?

Surely we don’t let managers who we want rid off make plans for next transfer window?

I’d say make the change now. What we might get is the sacrificial lambs of Collins and Kennedy today. Which begs the question Whybwas RD landed with these 2 in the first place?

I suspect because of an obvious failure to plan for Lenny’s departure, his replacement which resulted in RD being given the job and a support team being cobbled together in haste.

    Lawwell should apologise today IMO

    Commons needs managed….imho.

Then again, a manager who would manage on his/her terms would be deemed a threat, to the Park-Lawwell-axis that is strangling Celtic FC from within…imho

    Saw that aswel

Wouldn’t read much into it, commons was only on the park and was probably their first chance to communicate with each other.. Commons was playing behind the cifcti so good to see bit of talking.

Think commons was full on adrenaline so probably didn’t pay much notice to what was said .

All well here pal – hope you are good too..

That was exactly what I took from Ciftci.. I think he was annoyed Commons took his space and scored. I think Commons clearly doesn’t rate Ciftco and slung him a deaf ear.

Can’t blame Commons as he had to sit and watch Ciftci play ahead of him when he is clearly 10 times better.

No joke. I’d give Commons The managers job. He’s smart articulate and s winner and feisty enough to challenge any shoddy performers.

Now….that could work if….he’s allowed to be his own man ?

But, Lawwell and Park….it seems…must have a ‘cut’ from all transfer deals…that cant be right and, must be off putting for any manager on the outside….looking in and, who will probably have sounded out, Neil, MO’N, WGS,…even, Ronny ?

    Craig Gordon needs a rest.

Pro footballers shouldn’t be making howlers like that.

Its a sure sign his mind wasn’t on the game.

He has been the weak link this season, the rest of the defence don’t trust him.

The nervousness spreads right through the team.

The basis for any good defence, is a solid keeper.

Overall…we are fortunate that we didn’t make the CL, we would have been annihilated given the frailties in the team.

Looking at next season….ive got to say, that I’m very doubtful whether RD can get us into the CL.

We cannot afford another failure in Europe.

We need to be doing much better.

  32. My friends in Celtic,

Still think last night was an acceptable result, although of course we could have done better. No influential captain and no inform striker.

I have no intention of hurting anyone’s feelings, but sometimes I think that a reality check is called for. Who is guaranteed to bring us instant success if we sack ( or get rid ) of everyone ie RD, JC, PL, DD, JK, JP et al; because that is exactly what some demand.

Entitlement an un Celtic like word hovers in the air.

If our football was Racing cars then we compete in the Stock Car event and try to aspire to Formula 1. Occasionally we will get a break where the fancy cars miss fire and our mechanics and driver excell, but in the main money and quality will prevail.

Has anybody not clocked the standard of Scottish football in some of the live games not involving the hoops. Put simply it’s hard to watch.

That is the major problem and a new mechanic, driver or. Bernie Ecclestone will not solve the problem .

Hail, Hail to all Celtic Bhoys and Ghirls.

Ps: funny thing Racecar, it spells the same back to front.

  33. BADA BING!! on 11TH DECEMBER 2015 9:44 AM

Ciftci is up there with the worst I have ever seen in a Celtic jersey.

Ciftci is the latest in a long line of useless strikers we have signed in recent years. Whoever the scout is that is identifying and watching these players, whatever the template we use when looking for a striker, the process is broken.

Bangura, Balde, Pukki, Scepovic, Fridjonsson, Berget, Lassad, Brozek, Miku all signed in last four years. Should be a sackable offence, but the same people carry on using the same process to continue to sign more duds (the Villa and St Pauli strikers we have been linked with seem to be more of the same)

  34. I don’t know if RD will be here next season.

But…I will say this, if we are having to rely long-term on players like Gordon, Ciftci.

Then I cant see us being in the CL soon.

We do need better quality, no doubt.

If, we dont get into the CL next season….that’ll be circa of – £60 million lost in 3 years CL-money-pot.

In any other company….that would be grounds for wholesale sackings.

But,….not at the Kerrydale gravy train where, the mugs just keep coming back for more….ye couldny make it up…and, the icing on the cake…Lawwell will have taken circa of – £3million of Celtic fans money for overseeing that level of failure….but, keep the heid the noo….it’s only at the £40 million mark of failure :)

I don’t buy my season ticket to pay these idiot’s fines, and if we suffer a partial ground closure, let’s make sure this affects them directly.

How many times will they let the club down because they think it’s clever, and ‘other clubs’ do it? We are Celtic and it doesn’t matter what ‘other clubs’ do , or would they have us copy what happens down Govan way???
