    I was too busy trying to get some work done, while watching the match, to post earlier tonight.

     

     

    I have just read back and I am glad I avoided it.

     

     

    The only result that would have had any impact tonight on Celtic would have been a heavy defeat. Even a win would have been greeted with scant enthusiasm as it would be too little too late and only have made Ajax happy. A low key creditable draw was just about the best quiet result we could get so we can put Europe behind us this season as the failure it undoubtedly was. Bits and pieces of luck might have changed our points total and even got us to 2nd or 3rd place but the two Molde performances differed from the other 4 ties, as being abject failures.

     

     

    It seems that some correspondents had their hearts set on an expected heavy defeat and a game changing decision but they did not get that result and their frustration shows.

     

     

    Ronny will now get the peace and quiet to complete the season and attempt the treble. then the split support will get to debate whether he gets a 3rd (and final, if he fails) chance with Celtic in Europe.

     

     

    I have nailed my colours to the mast. I am an unlikely Ronny supporter, as i think he is too adventurous for the quality of player we have. The only way his methods win me over is, if our players do step up to the mark and become better than they currently are. We can only improve on the training pitch and not by the transfer bling market that the tabloids love.

     

     

    I think it is going to be an exciting journey. I think, like last year, there will be a happier second half of the season with all those deflating euro defeats out of the picture and the pressure will lessen.

     

     

    If Ronny fails, the fantasy of a big EPL name willing to come will get exposed again (Moyes would pick any Championship outfit, bar maybe Bolton, ahead of Celtic) and we will get another no-name manager to replace because all of our managers in all of our history have had no name to speak of (as a manager) before coming here. Just ask yourself- which of our previous managers- including Big Jock and MON- were being hunted by big name clubs when they came to us? – None is my answer

     

     

    If Ronny had to go we will either get another foreign coach with a half decent record or a former player with no decent managerial record (Larsson). My bet is Ronny will get his 3rd time lucky chance after we land a double or treble by May.

     

     

    I enjoyed the game tonight and I am pleased for our travelling support- but it is, and now was, a less important fixture than Sunday’s.

    Happy tonight with performance and result,looking forward to the rest of the season with only home competitions to concentrate on.

     

    Ronny now will be able to concentrate on winning these and planning for next season,maybe give some youth a chance and bringing in players for the start of next season.

     

    Some on here ,who are involved in children football,who think they are equipped to pass judgement on Ronnys abilility will certainly have egg on their face.

     

    Ronny will lead us to the promised land. HH

    I can’t think of any Celtic manager in the last 58 years that has been has harshly judged as Ronny on trophies won. I say 58 years as a poster tonight was telling us that this is the worst Celtic team he has seen in that time.

     

     

    Football at Europa level is all about small margins and those margins this year have been against us. Izzy getting sent off, Efe heading the ball back, Joe hansen not scoring, Scott Allan losing the ball etc., If these small mistakes had be eradicated it would have been a different outcome.

     

     

    If everything wasn’t going well behind the scenes we would have had heard about it from leaks to the press from disgruntled players, but none of that has come out so I’m thinking that the players are enjoying what they are seeing behind closed doors and hopefully the youths will start to progress as well.

     

     

    I’ll stick with Ronny for now. No idea why people are trumpeting Moyes, how many trophies has he won, he was hounded out of Spain for his arrogance…..

    3 top 10 finishes with Leicester after getting them promoted. . 3 League Cup finals winning 2. I knew he was the real deal and that he’d turn it around against the cheats though maybe not as spectacularly and so quickly. So wonderful after the awful 90s one season excepted of course.

    Watching the Panorama programme on FIFA, feck we thing the SFA are bad but the Brazilian FA are accused of being behind the deaths of at least 50 people due to bribes, cover ups etc….US Senator saying the mafia would be embarrassed with the FIFA going on as they wouldn’t be as blatant as FIFA….

    Macjay – Kris Commons was a storm in a tea cup, player goes in the huffs after being subbed, no big deal. I’m not sure what he does with Stokes, IMO it was a number of things that came to a head, Stokes needs to learn it’s not all about him. He’ll write a book about it after his career is over saying that he regrets his actions and wishes he would have acted differently. Not exactly damning evidence is it ?

    We seemed more competitive in this game than we did in games against Molde and Malmo that counted.

     

     

    Gordon was fine – misjudgement at the goal apart.

     

     

    Back four was good with Kieran belying his years and showing others how it;s done. Lustig decent game, good cross for goal and an OK captain.

     

     

    CBs did fine ovnce they got to the pace pf the game.

     

     

    Midfield were hard working, BItton McGregor and Allan better than Armstrong and Johnasen,

     

     

    A bit like the second goal to Ajax, we lose possession through Ciftci and then find we have not the correct player back to cover.

     

     

    Nadir is a puzzle – no pace, no unique skill factor, can’t head, cant’t tackle, can’t shoot from distance, can’t shield the ball, Can’t use his left foot, and it appears for tonight has poor control.

     

     

    Late here so that’s the lot.

     

     

    Oh KC took his goal well.
