No I wanted someone like Ronny. Paul67 will tell you, I met him on holiday just after Ronny’s appointment, I wanted something new, innovative, possibly continental but certainly not any of the names that had been mentioned.

However, I also wanted someone who could manage, coach and improve what they had to work with.

I don’t think Ronny can do that.

Please note, I’m not asking for his head. This is just an honest evaluation from another Celtic supporter of our manager.

  2. HT

Your earlier post mentioning all Celtic managers have lost players and you mentioned, I will call him Kenny Dalgliesh, losing “king Kenny” was obviously a big loss, but then you mentioned Van Dijk & Denayer (sic) and replacing them with lesser players, not quoting you but replacing with lesser players when the mistakes were already being made, does that not mean we would be worse whether Ronny was the manager or not ?

By the way Ronny didn’t lose Virgil or Jason they actually weren’t that interested in staying

We should sign Michael me govern or David Marshall.

*we had both and let them go.

  4. I have crossed swords on this site with many many people.

Never have I come across a more objectionable or unpleasant person than Tony Donnelly.

His stupidity is only outstripped by his facist nature.

    Everything you say is true.

    However,Celtic is a world wide institution .

The Sydney C.S.C. is stowed out with punters.

I could never accept Celtic at being anywhere but the top table.

We are suffering a temporary decline which will be rectified when Ronny leaves.

    Probably not before.

    The Board should act now.

  6. MiT

    Only the future will tell.

I personally hope Ronny is here to reap the benefits of his work at Lennoxtown.

  7. Gerryfaethebrig

You’re being pedantic mate. He lost them from his squad. Whether it was Ronny’s choice or theirs is immaterial.

  8. Dreadful Celtic side this. No passion or drive no leadership either. Only started playing when against 10 men even then couldn’t find a man half the time. 3 dreadful sides in this group and we’ve got 3points from 18 it’s total pish no matter how you cut it. Management team has to go this ain’t gonna improve.

    Craig Gordon’s lost his mojo.

Johansen constantly hits a loose pass he should take up middle distance running

Bitons been listening to his agent

    McGregor zero awareness

    Boyata gtf

Ciftci possibly even less fit than Cole

None of these players get Celtic. Sorry Ronnie nice guy but this is embarrassing.

Replacing Ronny with Pep tomorrow will not make us a big club.

Money is the only factor to decide a clubs size now, we don’t have any and won’t have for the foreseeable future.

And we were a small club under Lenny as well, and under Ronny, and will be under his replacement.

  10. DD …. it may surprise you, but I actually wish he was with Celtic in the future as well ….. but not as manager … as head of youth, or as no. 2, I think he brings a lot to the table …. unfortnately, given that he is the head, it would be difficult, if not impossible, for him to take a lesser job at Celtic in the future… and some other club will benefit from our loss …

but he doesn’t have the stuff to be the main man at Celtic.

It shouldn’t be forgotten that we were also pretty pee in Europe with both those players as well, so it’s hard to judge if are current ones are much better or not :O)

  14. We are not even a Europa League club, but don’t let that stop ‘Big Peter’telling the masses of Daily Record readers,we are one of the biggest clubs in the world….. does anyone think Dermot knew we were playing tonight? The core of the club is a shambles.

  15. MACJAY1,

We play in the SPFL. That means we face decline. How many teams did anything in Europe? We at least played a number of games. We need to get out of the Scotland, otherwise decline is inevitable. John Collins got it right. Nobody in Scotland can give us real competition. So, playing in Europe is too much of a step up.

  16. Although I admire Ronny Deila’s attempt to implement a 4-2-3-1 system, top to bottom, at our club….you only have to compare and contrast our line-up tonight with, say, Arsenals’ last night to see that our squad is wholly inadequate to the task at the moment…..no passing basics from us, no spacial awareness from our players, no changes in tempo to mix it up….it’s all too predictable at the moment…..and whilst we may have the quality to win the SPHell….without a squad overhaul were gonna struggle wen we have to step it up in Europe ;-((

    H.H.

  17. Just watched the goals again.

Look where Tierney is at their goal. That’s not his fault btw.

Our goal, brilliant cross and header.

  18. HT

Again I strongly disagree with you.

James Forrest has improved imo, as has Broonie, Biton, Griff to name but four, he is bringing kids through, but it all takes time, time that most are not willing to give him, shame really, he will be a top top coach, but sadly not at Celtic, but never mind, when the huns are back, everything will be hunky dory.

    HH

  19. MiT

I will politely disagree with you. :)

I think Ronny is better than any alternative options we could employ.

  20. CultsBhoy can not relate to Celtic Board ambitions on or off the park on

Ronnie not to blame – he hasn’t helped but he is not to blame. The Board ( Lawwell) has led us to this point.

To get where we should be ( a team that can compete in the Europa Cup with occasional group stage CL) will now cost £40 m

Given that the current decline has been ongoing since Seville and has accelerated drastically in the last three or four years, how temporary is temporary?

As I have posted previously only a radical change of thinking at the top can arrest, let alone reverse the decline.

  22. WTT didn’t pick his coaching staff

Murder initially came in as Reserve Team Manager

He initially only signed one player

He was labelled a Tottie on the “Big Lhist” after his debut at Easter Road

He was labelled a hero after securing the Double of League and League Cup

    And then he walked away

£40m. You might as well go chasing after moonbeams or light a penny candle from a star.

We could go on all day and get nowhere.

    We`ll just have to disagree.

Celtic are referred to here as “Scottish giants.”

We were European giants and we can be again.

Not with Ronny at the helm.

It`s been obvious since August last year.

  25. DD

Ronny is giving some of those from Lennoxtown a chance, part of his job spec

What is he actually doing at Lennoxtown with our youth ?

It has been on the go for several years and youth should be coming through and given a chance, so I do applaud him and welcome this

We gave Fraser Forster a chance in goals at a young age, I would give Leo Fasan that same chance, as an example

    Now back to Lennoxtown

Chris McCart is Head of Operations and set up at Lennoxtown is he not ? And not Ronny

    Hail Hail

  26. DD … no problem pal. people dont always agree…. but you always do so politely … and I know that, like myself, you want what is best for the club …. so always a pleasure chatting.

  27. Ronny Deila should be replaced.

However do I hunk he will be sacked any time soon. The answer is clearly , no.

In the short to immediate term though he needs to rid the team of the bad eggs.

Craig Gordon being prime candidate number 1.

  28. Hamiltontim I wasn’t posting with regards of any individual Tony Donnelly post but rather his general approach. It is mindful of the stupidity and bombast of Donald trump.

    It is disgusting.

He had the audacity to post the other night about the log being about opinions but that hasn’t stopped him carrying out witchunts etc.

  29. Say it Again….One of The Worst Celtic Teams i Have EVER watched and im 58…No sign of Progress..NONE…loved Him Hated Him..Up and Down..

    GUYS A DUD….( DEILA)..

There is a rumour flying about Glasgow that JC is leaving Celtic tomorrow.

Warbo for Swansea is the other. :)

    ========================================================

How many of the Clubs remaining in the Europa are wealthier than Celtic?

    Rhetorical question.

We are punching way below our financial weight.

  32. HT

Pedantic ? I have been called worse

All kidding aside, they did not want to stay and the players that replaced them weren’t as good so why the shock we are not better in Europe, although I think in spells we have played pretty well, not sure if St Martin would have got draws away from home in the group stages, we suffered even under the best

  33. 3 points from 18 in the Europa League,’judge me in Europe,’said Deila ,embarrassing,we are going backwards at an alarming rate. Lawwell is the architect of this mess.

  34. Johansen should have been covering for their goal, he was outran far too easily.

I can’t fathom out why he has gone from being a very good player to being a bit of a liabilty, but I doubt RD is the cause, I have read on another blog that he is a major problem in the dressing room, true, no idea, but the info is out there, the poster who works at the club reckoned that they should have widened the door to accommodate his head as the door wasn’t wide enough.
