  1. Macjay

Great tunes from the regular guy on the mic/guitar tonight.

I have challenged everyone on Rockall being Scottish. Think I won.

  2. Creditable result and performance tonight.

Our showings against Ajax and Fener have been decent. Such a pity the Molde games were both disasters.

Paul67 – this is your site an’ all, but the adverts are ruining it. Almost unusable at times these days.

  3. Macjay – in the last 15 years, at what point was our squad weaker than it is now?

Furthermore, in the last 2 Europa league games, how many internationalists were playing?

Tonight, we had Gordon, Lustig, Johansen and Bitton who have reasonable international experience.

    Not jam packed.

I’m not interested in other groups. I can’t judge our players and management against other groups as they are irrelevant.

Tonight and Ajax were good results.

Ajax at home was forgive able considering the team we were forced into playing.

Fene at home was a very good performance marred by individual errors.

The Molde games were both very, very poor.

  4. TBJ says Wee Oscar Knox is in heaven with the angels on

When the draw was made fenerbache were big favourites with ajax second favourite . Some thought we were 3rd favourites over the wee Diddy team from Norway.

Fenerbache had van persie- nani- diego and the £20m Liverpool player ( markovic ) on loan.

Molde beat them in Turkey on the opening night . Then took points from all 4 games against us and ajax only losing to fener.

We lost to molde twice but I think we were unlucky on both occasions

We got a draw in Turkey and Amsterdam. . But lost to ajax at home to a very late breakaway goal while chasing a win at 1-1.

Most thought we might finish 3rd … some thought we would scrape through in 2nd .

To be honest I’m not that bothered about the loss to ajax … and happy enough with the 2 draws away from home

Pisd off with losing to inferior team in molde. . Naivety and bad luck.

It’s from those 2 games ronny must learn and the fact we only had Leigh as a goalscoring threat needs sorted in January

I thought boyata showed signs of settling down this last month and big Jozo will be a good ch. Tierney is an absolute find .

I can’t see Joe h in our team at the moment . .. he really needs a month off but with broony out until January he’s maybe needed.

I think Scott Allan will do well. .. wee Jamesy has looked fitter and better . Gms and Armstrong need to shape up and nadir maybe on loan to Dundee utd until the summer . Or maybe hibs .

We have Tommy rogic getting better. .. Liam Henderson to come back with a seasons matches under his belt and the young boy from ict too.

Were a few 3xperoenced players away from a decent team and I think we will win the treble unless the mibs screw us in a cup game .

Keep the faith bhoys and ghirls. ..

  5. mike in toronto on

JFH … as you say, 2 trophies is 2 trophies … but, honestly, given (i) the general level of football in scotland (guff), me and a 10 cqn’ers could throw together a team and win at least 1, and (ii) the gulf in Celtic’s resources versus every other team in Scotland, the league and a trophy is the bare minimum we should expect.

As I said earlier, even RD says his results have not been good enough (although, he has changed his tune slightly of late!).

but I applaud you for your indefatigability …. we need fans like you to keep spirits up, as much as we need fans like neganon who keep the team on their toes. both are needed in equal measure.

  6. The game is up…the Rebels have lost….

This guy is so out his depth it’s frightening, the guns should be trained on Lawwell now. Totally unacceptable shite ,yet again. Who would trust him with CLQs next year

What makes you think you can get me a yellow or red for calling Sutton what he is .. a bankrupt soup taker

  8. Bada Bing – I understand you want Ronny out but tonight should be seen as a positive, if not for Ronny then for the young guys in that team.

KT is 18 and has come thru one of the hardest venues in Europe.

Jozo is 21, Rogic, Callum, Scott, Stuart and Nadir are all kids really.

  9. TET @ 9.03 & now Bada @ 9.22

Nail on head Bhoys, the 2 main culprits to where we now find ourselves, in my opinion

But TET, Bada gets it right as well with our manager,

I am 18months into watching his tactical set up, not in the slightest bit impressed, and constantly watching the same movie

Good night all and thank you for being here.

roll on tomorrow to see what catman was hinting at :)))))))))))))

  12. Some people really don’t have a clue about football, we go with a team that as has been said one of the worst for 10+ years, to Turkey up against a team that cost mega millions, we get a credible draw, should have had a penalty, we gift them a goal and our coach is clueless.

The only clueless ones are the ones who are berating him, IMO.

  13. Joe Filippis Haircut on

BADA BING. Fella big Peter is bullet proof he has the gig as long as he wants it. I respect your opinion but as you know I dont share it all I can say is give Ronny a bit more time he will show us all he is the man for the job. H.H.

  14. weebobbycollins on

I’ll take that result. It was a decent enough performance. I can certainly see a career for Scott Allan. He has imagination to go with his confidence which will grow as he becomes more used to and appreciated by his colleagues and the fans. But we also need a few gie it tae me type players. As a team, they are confident enough in the spfl but in European games, even when the opposition is no better than average, they seem a bit unsure. The games last season and this one have caused doubts which have been like a monkey on their backs. It’s imperative they start well next campaign, cut out daft mistakes and build some momentum…and Ronny will be in charge.

  15. embramike says "the Huns are Deid" on

With Europe out of the way for this season, how do the team get re-energised?

Gordon – from star man last season, he has made a number of major blunders this season. Maybe we need to let Bailly have a wee run our else what’s the point of him being here?

Lustig – mind will be increasingly on Euro2016 – and we’ll lose him for CL qualifiers because of that. Why not ‘job share’ with Jako (cf Tierney / Izzy)

Simunovic – young man with little english having difficulty settling in Scotland – may take a season to feel ‘at home’

Boyata – needs confidence to use his physique effectively and cut out the stray passes.

Tierney – could be our LB for a decade if we nurture him carefully. Job share with Izzy may be best for both as one begins/one winds down their time with Celtic

Bitton – needs another party trick and to learn that a pass is not always predicted by a pirouette. Talk of EPL is probably unsettling him a bit but could be a rock in the team.

Broony – has played too much football for club and country without a decent break – so picking up injury not surprising for a player in his 30s. We miss his leadership on the park – no real deputy. Hurry back.

Johansen – A couple of batteries short of a Duracell bunny I’m afraid. May have shot his bolt last season but RD seems reluctant to leave him out unfortunately. Not a patch on the player he was last season.

Forrest. – May give a great couple on minutes in a game but not consistent enough. Takes too many breathers instead of chasing and harrying. Don’t think he can improve much on where he is now in his career. Impact player for me.

Commons – if only we could turn back his body clock 5 years ! Still a goal threat and has the vision, but he is not a wide player – he doesn’t have the engine. Can be very effective if used as needed.

Armstrong – not the player he was over the last couple of seasons and I think being played wide left is part of the problem. Seems to be disconnected from his team mates at times – a mystery.

Allan – great hopes for him as he can see a pass others can’t. With game time, I think he could be our key playmaker if he ups his work rate a bit.

Griffiths – a genuine goal scorer and so has hot and cold spells , Think he will score 30+ goals this season given the game time.

Rogic – better impact player than starter. Doesn’t have a 90 minute engine yet but has neat touches and an eye for goal. 18 months should tell the story.

McGregor – Bit of an enigma – can score a burst of goals then disappear from sight. Jury out.

Ciftci – Has disappointed so far – little return for the outlay. Maybe game time elsewhere?

GMS – seems a wee boy lost this year. Maybe out of his depth? Needs game time, but where?

Christie – could be a diamond like Allan, but with RD’s system where would he play? And who would stand down ? We’ll see next year.

Ronny D – Treble this year (MiB permitting) might mark a successful season, but failure to reach CL group stage for a 3rd season may well see him exit CP. Think he needs to be a bit more proactive and perhaps need a wiser, more experienced assistant?

All in all, there is enough talent there to build a team that can compete at some level in Europe (domestic is a given) but how many sub standard performances will will trigger the trap door?

It’s up to you Ronny – you are the manager of Celtic

Callum 22, Scott 24, Stuart 23, Nadir 23, not exactly Kids, in-experienced in Europe, yes, but in my view at that age should be established first team players if good enough with Celtic

Just a personal view squad players at best, although I do think we should be seeing more of Scott and playing a forward pass, and also think Stuart should be played in the centre of midfield or coached as a holding midfielder ?

They are not kids though :-)

  18. Joe Filippis Haircut on

GUERNICA. I agree with what you say all except Cifti he looks like he has eaten two kids. H.H.

  19. Cowiebhoy

As I said before, it all depends on your starting point on where you come from.

This season has been up in the air as far as I am concerned, we lost our defence, and that is nigh impossible to overcome and get results, the replacements were recruited far too late, then one of them gets injured, but just another stick to beat RD with.

The problem lies higher up the chain, give him the kinda players he wants, not would be projects from the John Park book, he has got far more wrong than right imo, and now we have a coach who wants to play a certain way, he is getting players that don’t fit his system, and thankfully he is not for changing.

He will be a top coach, but sadly he will be hunted from Celtic, cos the support are believing the pish the msm are feeding them.

I have the faith in him, had from day one.

  20. TET

Do you see an improvement in our performances in Europe since last season? If so, in what way?

  21. What drives me up the wall, is the tippy tappy way we go forward, back and forward again or even sideways.

It’s boring and driving supporters away as it usually ends in no final ball…well maybe in the spfl but certainly not in Europe as we have found at our cost, as teams sit back and wait to pounce on the inevitable mistake that will be made.

I like what Ronnie wants our team to do and how he wants us to play.

Sadly, he will not get the backing from the board to get players of that level, as has been posted by TET and others…so where do we go!

  22. TBJ

You might be right but I see ‘soup taker’ as a pejorative term in the history of Ireland and when applied to those who are not Irish as a cheap shot.

I’ll probably get the yellow but you never know in a 50/50 challenge.

  23. Decent, not great, creditable result away to an average side….crikey, did I jist write that as acceptable…..mmmm…..is that an indication of where we are ;-((

Ciftci…..nope not for me in a lone striker roll….. is not playing him to his strenghts so what’s the point ;-((

As for the chat earlier in the week about League Cup reconstruction…..squirrel…..acceptance of these proposals is an acceptance that the currants incumbent ( see what I did there ) in charge of Scottish fitba know what they are doing….and that they’ll b there for the foreseeable…naw not fur me…..in the strongest possible terms ;-((

A draw in Turkey, a draw in Amsterdam, cruising against Fenerbache at home, fling in Malmo at home in the qualifiers 2-0 and seemingly cruising, there has been spells in this campaign we have played really well, some crazy individual errors, more in one campaign than you will see in years, by the way I was brought up hardly seeing us scoring in Europe this team can score, if we manage to do a Quarabag away more often things could be no too bad, anyway roll on Sunday…..

    Mate.

I wasn`t talking about tonight`s dead rubber irrelevance.

    Or tonight`s team.

    I`m talking about our squad.

And I`m talking about the incompetence of a manager who has a squad packed with internationalists.

Can`t really make any comparisons with the last 15 years and ,frankly I don`t really see the relevance of that.

I look to the future (What future?),not the past.

  27. eddieinkirkmichael on

Hamiltontim- Europe is never a place we judge our managers. I would ask do you enjoy watching our team in the league now compared to 2 years ago?

  28. HT

I have, as I have said losing your defence is a major blow.

The Malmo game was going according to plan, we were flying, and had Johansen scored to make it 3-0 I reckon that would have been that, but we contrived to throw the game away, not by tactics, but by individual mistakes, something the coach can’t control.

The euro games, apart from the games against Molde, we have done Ok imo.

We got to Turkey and get a draw, same to the Dam, with a crap team by all accounts is no bad imo.

Give him the say so on who comes in, feck John Park out the door and we will see a vast improvement imo.

Ha Some goal celebration from the Sporting guy there, took the magic spray from the ref’s belt and made some sign on the grass, ended up with a yellow card for it though. Wee Wullie would have sent him off….

  30. HT

I have thought that we set up and played better in Europe this season.

Individual errors have crucified us. A combination of bad luck and poor concentration, has made the results look worse than the performances.

Enjoyed the campaign if not the results.
