Just to be clear, the 0:-)))) was for your Cowiebhoy comment and not your agreement with DD. I , too, thought DD`s prediction was worthwhile!

Oh the curse of watching the lions will haunt every squad until we win the big one, again :)

    Long long way to go

  4. Clearly, a number of people are looking to only take negatives from any game as long as Ronnie is here.

I only saw the second half but, for all they had most of the ball pre sending off, I can’t remember many shots on goal?

    We defended well.

We also gave European experience to some young players.

Alas, we made another individual error. I do think that we are only 3 players away from being a decent side at this level.

    EDDIEINKIRKMICHAEL on 10TH DECEMBER 2015 8:15 PM

Embramike we did push home our advantage, we came from 1 down to 1-1

I was implying that at 1-1 against 10 men we should have had them pinned into their box and creating chance after chance to get an elusive away win in Europe .

We have some players afraid to take responsibility, some who want the ball and then can’t create with it and too few runners off the ball. We simply don’t create enough.

We have lost out too many times to teams who had possibly inferior players but a much higher work ethic. We need players who can contribute not for 90 seconds but 90 minutes, week in, week out.

  6. A good result in a difficult ground playing against a team that cost a bundle to put together. They looked sharper at times though rarely threatened us and it took a mistake to gift them the lead. Story of our Euro campaign this year. Some players did really well and some showed promise, others looked out of their depth. The defending was mainly solid and the CHs are starting to gel so not a bad night. I hope the traveling faithful get home safe and that the Amsterdam arena suffers an earthquake later on tonight.

Cifti should never have been on that park tonight, and if he ever wears a Celtic jersey again, Ronny will have to go…….he has been a liability in every game he has played for us …….. Cut your losses, Celtic…..

And what’s all this passing the ball across the park all night …..

Incidentally, why is it only the smsm meeja who think the Europa League is a Mickey Mouse tournament …. Rhetorical question

I often see on here that it would be a dull place if we all agreed. A similar level of intellect and rationale in all posts would, presumably, also be dull fare. Reading some of the crackers on here tonight, there is little chance of dullness on CQN 0:-)

Are you sure Tierney let the player run past him?

I thought he was still up the park, caught out by that dud Cifti giving the ball away instead of passing it to Tierney or another one of us.

    I thought it was Johansen.

  12. Saint Stivs

I watch more La Liga fitba than even Scottish fitba. Stefan is still making the same good runs he did for us. Him and Scott Allan’s passing would be profitable when SS returns, I believe.

  13. Embramike,Boyata below average?. Really.

I thought all the back 4 played very solidly, in addition twas Boyata who made the goal.

Only players who were bad was Ciftci & Gordon. . Joe & Armstrong were below average. The rest were OK.

WE need to give Bailly a run of games, I’m not writing Gordon off but he needs to be made fight for his place. The back 4 are showing signs of settling. Izzy & hopefully Janko are good back ups to full backs.

Brooney, Bitton, Allan, Forrest & Griffiths all look OK. Hopefully Christie be a big hit.

Rogic & McGregor jury still out. Joe having a poor season but showed well last year.

Stokes unfortunately, Blackett, Derk & Ciftci need to be off loaded asap. Mulgrew & Efe squad players. I’d include GMS & Armstrong in that bracket for the moment.

No judgement on the kids in the squad.

Carlton Cole, your guess is as good as mine.

    That`s how I feel.

We should be beating up the Board about this shocking and recurring failure in Europe rather than allowing them off the hook on team performance and instead focussing on other matters.

I`ll bet they are breathing a sigh of relief over supporter focus on the ‘living wage.”

First,I want a Celtic team that competes in Europe.

The absolute minimum we should be aspiring to is the group stages of the C.L.

    The absolute minimum.

  16. Our pride in Europe was not further damaged, that in itself is some improvement.

Even the longest March, begins with the first steps ; as the quote goes.

Hail, hail especially to the gallant 1000.

  17. Having time to look it up, will check back later.

Celtic reached the 64 cup winners cup semi final against mtk Budapest. This was before stein.

    .

.how many of that team featured in the Lisbon run ?

  18. For those who think we should have seen a cavalry charge from us after they went down to 10 men please remember that most of the goals against us in this competition come from breakaways when we are attacking. We need to move forward sensibly, gung hi doesn’t work for us and we aren’t good enough to pin back a team costing multi millions.

  19. DELANEYS DUNKY on 10TH DECEMBER 2015 8:24 PM

Happy with the draw tonight. Would punt big Nadir in January and recall on loan Stefan Scepovic. Think SS would benefit from having Scott Allan playing in our midfield.

    Thats not a bad shout

    HH

  20. Decent enough performance from the Bhoys tonight, Forrest was our best player when he came on. Ciftci would be better off going out on loan in January, maybe he’d do Hibs a turn?

Lots to like – Tierney struggled a little tonight but we’ve seen more than enough to know he has a real chance of becoming a top Bhoy. Forrest looked very dangerous this evening hopefully he’ll kick on from here. Allan showed some nice touches & I like his positivity in trying to play the killer pass. Lustig looked more like himself perhaps he’s not done after all. What’s not to like is we need a whole new spine right through from Keeper to Center forward. Gordon had a tremendous half season last year but for me he’s now back to his real ability. Not reliable & always prone to making costly mistakes, just not a very good keeper. Both CB’s are suspect in different ways. Boyata is a whole hearted defender & if he can iron our his deficiencies has a chance. While Boyata is whole hearted Siminuovic gives the impression of a half hearted performer. No doubt he has good qualities but someone of his stature should be more dominant & commanding. Hopefully he’ll develop but unlike Boyata, I’m not sure he has the fire within him to do so. Midfield we miss Browns influence but even with him we lack a boss in the middle of the park. I like Nir a lot & while he’s able to play deeper he’s never going to be a destroyer. His game is to link midfield to attack, I think both Nir & Brown would flourish with a Wanyama type player behind. Center Forward Ciftci played tonight & if it was up to me, that would be his last game. Griffiths has been a revelation but he can’t do it all on his own. We lack a focal point, a hold up player to bring others in to the game. Cole might be the answer but he needs to get much fitter. January is a big month for us, we must strengthen significantly or next seasons European campaigns will likely go the same way.

I’d like a new Keeper, CB, DM & Striker for Xmas, please Santa Peter. HH!

  21. Showed 5-0 S Lisbon game in pub

    My first euro game

More proud of that team tonight

Our own Celtic Tiger collapse destroyed an emotional investment for the new 30,000 fans but not for us who were there back then, now and forever

    Hail hail

  22. Too soon to judge Cifti and he has not had many games – I’ve also heard from a good source he is being loaned to HIBS if we get the striker we are after!

  23. Ronny is clueless….needs to go.

Lawwell will sell Nir Bitton in the summer to ensure his bonus etc

The downsizing continues unabated. Don’t be surprised to see John Hughes in the Celtic dug out.

I seen an analysis of Lawwells renumeration over 10 years of approx £8M with huge per cent age increase. Even with a drop in turnover of 30% plus he secured his bonus.

There are 2 constants for Celtic. Downsizing and Lawwells £1M per year package with no connection to football achievements.

Lawwell has failed miserably in the last 3 years in particular and his destruction of Celtic continues unabated.

Cifti needs more games………. With another club……

  25. DubaiBhoy (nee LondonBhoy) on

    I haven’t posted for a long long time but…..

If we’d achieved this result with one of our past managers we’d have been pretty happy. The negativity against Ronny has started to cloud our judgement.

Now, on Cifti, I saw a player tonight constantly pointing forward to where he wanted the ball. The ball went sideways and Cifti tried again.

I saw exactly the same thing with Scepovic. A smart player who didn’t fit into the system at Celtic because we don’t have players who will play the slide rule pass.

I don’t know if this is a lack of vision or players are being instructed not to play risky passes. Either way it needs to change.

We are pitifully predictable to play against. Bitton has started to believe the hype and is now a target for opposition midfielders. He needs to stop the drag backs and start hitting first time passes.

  26. West End of East End on

Saint Stivs – If you count Yogi as a Lion then 7 started that game…

Fallon; Young, Gemmell ; Clark, McNeill, Kennedy; Johnstone, Murdoch, Chalmers, Gallacher, Hughes.

BGX – The worst Celtic team ever in your 58 years ! Wow …

  27. What about loaning cifti to Dundee united, then he can score the goals in the playoffs that keep second rangers down

    Mate.

I have only seen the replay of Craig`s blunder,so I can`t comment on the game itself.

I was responding to the comments on C.Q.N. and my overall attitude to what I consider to be the ” management of decline ”

For me,it`s just not good enough.

    Celtic are better than this.

    All we have is hope.

I think under the current set-up,that hope is misplaced.
