  1. League win= success

League win and league cup= good

League win and Scottish cup win= very good

League, league cup and Scottish cup wins= excellent

League, league cup, Scottish cup wins and Good Euro run= icing on the cake

Anything else is just Hunnish propaganda

    Embramike,Boyata below average?. Really.

I thought all the back 4 played very solidly, in addition twas Boyata who made the goal.

Boyata, for his size, should dominate on the ground and in the air – too often he loses out.

He is also timid with the ball at his feet, his preferred pass being to his fellow CH. His erratic passing, probably due to lack of confidence rather than ability, has cost us dear this season. Not a patch yet on his compatriot Denayer but let’s hope.

His pass to Lustig was standard – Lustig’s cross made the goal for KC . All about opinions HH

  3. I see the negationians have crept out of the shadows again tonight, they must be disappointed that we managed a draw in a very tough place to play.

Too soon to judge Cifti and he has not had many games – I’ve also heard from a good source he is being loaned to HIBS if we get the striker we are after!

    Now,that`s a plan.

    C`mon the Hibees!

You are correct – your pithy assessment sums up our European campaigns quite succinctly!

It also covers our hapless chief coach’s efforts as well!

    TET

You are as deluded as any who think the Great Amateur is actually managing CFC at present!

Anyone who has seen the genuine article such as Mr Stein, MON or even WGS should be able to recognise that the current incumbent is out of the same mould as TM and JB!

If he gets kept on it will be because the board are clueless about who might replace him not because they have any great faith faith in his abilities!

Wait and see how far they are prepared to back him in January!

    We currently need the following

RB – that’s not injury prone

CB – that can organise the back four

LB – as KT is only a prospect

CM – at least one genuine holding player – preferably 2

CF – that can lead the line – CC might have been the answer 4 years ago- not so much now!

That’s 5/6 players who need to be starters not squad fillers

How many do you think will arrive?

  6. One of the poorest Celtic sides I have seen in Europe in the last 15 years .I would only give pass marks to Boyota of those who started the game. Nir Bitton gets an easy time on this site but in all honesty he is just a sand-dancer who takes far too long to move the ball forward.

It really isn’t as bad as you perceive.

We are improving . Once Scott retires and Button moves on, we will fire.

The back 4 look good. I would bring back Scepovic as well

    Onwards

Agree. Our support’s expectations are incredible. In my 50 years I have lived through how many trebles?

  11. FFS were some of you people watching Celtic in the 90s, a draw in Turkey would have been seen as a major result in the days when we were struggling to finish third in the league

You could be right. It was the player in the right back position at the time but it may not have been Tierney.

I also tend to agree about the potential for a more mobile player like Scepovic playing with Scott Allan.

There was one moment in the second half when Allan played a lovely wee reverse ball through to Ciftci who had as good a chance of getting there first as the goalkeeper. Unfortunately the keeper had time to comb his hair and check his texts before gathering the ball ahead of the lumbering Ciftci.

I think the anti Ronny brigade should look before they leap as who would he replace him ? Well the no.1candidate is John Hughes at Inverness as he will not cost a lot and is Celtic minded but would not in my opinion be up to managing such a big club.Give Ronny another season he is on the right track. H.H.

  14. JFH

I think Ronny should be given at least 3 seasons to implement his own style and system.

  17. Stairheedrammy

I agree, especially with ( the hunnish propaganda bit.)

The expectancy level is skewed and out of control, Celtic finished roughly where history indicated they would.

This squad and the current format have drawn ‘back to back’ with Kilmarnock, how would they have faired

    in the group?

I agree we need players in, but not John Park players, and what if we get feck all in, another stick to beat RD with.

I posted earlier, and have on numerous occasions, that the likes of Cifcti and Carlton Cole are as far removed from the type of player the coach wants, and yet he is berated for not managing to make a silk purse etc.

He is coaching with his hands tied behind his back blindfold, he was given his assistants, he is given pish players, but it’s all his fault.

    Deluded, aye right.

JFH …. on what basis do you say that RD “is on the right track”? Fitness seems to have slipped back from last year, and style of play is not improved as far as I can see. As has been pointed out, RD himself said he would be judged on whether we made the CL this year.

Love your optimism but I fear that it’s greatly misplaced.

Can you honestly name any area of the park that you see any real improvement?

I now feel sorry for Young Tierney as a huge amount seems about to be placed on his shoulders.

  22. Chris Sutton commentates like a fan, but his tendency to go OTT writing off players like

Emilio Izzaguire shows why he wasn’t manager material, even of Lincoln City.

  23. Fenebahce are a decent side. So are Ajax.

We drew away against both. With the poorest set of players we have had in over 15 years.

People try and belittle Ajax and Fene as a means of putting Ronny down.

Both are good sides with players who either were top drawer or will go into be top drawer.

For 15 years we have gone to these places and watched through our fingers. We have mostly come home empty handed.

Tonight we had an 18 year old and a 21 year old in the back line.

We had a front 4 of players who, if I am honest, are SPL level players.

If not for an individual error we might have won the game.

Yet, despite all of the above, hardly a word of praise for the manager.

  24. You will never cut out individual errors, it’s exploiting those errors that separate every team, but that is just part of it. I believe CS mentioned that Biton was to slow, I couldn’t agree more, as a fat guy watching the TV’s angle from above the pitch, it’s easy for me to see that he should be passing quicker, and into space quicker, but that’s where we are at, we can’t afford the players that see the pass earlier, but I do have hope for Scott Allan and he was able to mix it with bigger more seasoned pro’s.

The key will be in the rest of the season, never mind the treble as any team can loose any match on any given day, but will Ronnie be able to build “A TEAM” capable of showing that they can progress, can develop, can play as a team. I have my doubts, especially if all I hear is him talking about the positives, address the negatives.

  25. Good subs by Ronnie. But he won’t get any credit of course.

And I was glad we never went gung-Ho at 1-1

A defeat would have brought glee to a lot of not nice people.

Gordon – no better than rabbit Douglas and never was. If he was a centre half he would have been dropped last season. Will continue to cost us cups unless he’s dropped. If he had even one blinder and clean sheet we would have went into tonight’s game with a chance.

We should sign Michael me govern or David Marshall.

I think we should keep faith with tonight’s back 4.

    It’s better forwards we need.

  26. St Stivs – lol :-)))))

It has been work related, just not had time for the blog,

    I noticed Dena :-))

Now I thought the defence did do better tonight, but the Fenerbache goal AGAIN exposed the huge gap our system leaves on an attack from the opposition 18 yard line.

I believe with our squad of players and a better manager, we would have both qualified for Champions league, and qualified out of this Europa League group

I do put this down to Ronny, and our Board for the decision to appoint and now back him.

I do Not want him leading our European assault next season, I think our club as gone backwards in this respect, majorly

I am still undecided on Ciftci, he cannot be match fit with his limited time on the park, but many seem to have decided, that our Scouting has again failed with our priority position ?

I am just as interested in how our players cannot pass frequently to one another, struggle to keep possession, do not close other teams/players down, and lack forward movement ?

I would have thought so would the rest of our fans who want a successful Celtic ?

    Hail Hail

Mike in Toronto. Fella 2 trophies in his first season our performance in Europe has been badly influenced by silly individual errors cut them out and we will compete in Europe.Top of the League this season and semi final of the League cup and young Scottish players beginning to feature. Not bad in my opinion for a new young manager.
