After the dust settled on Sunday’s game I considered the four central defenders we fielded. Acknowledging his poor performance, Brendan Rodgers reminded us Dedryck Boyata was just back from injury and will improve. Jozo Simunovic coasted through the game but got drawn into the spate of off the ball acts which was a feature of the game.
Kris Ajar (19) continued his excellent recent form, while Jack Hendry (22) didn’t miss a beat when introduced after Jozo’s red card. There will be tougher challenges ahead, but these two are more than comfortable at this level and have a genuine claim to a starting place at Hampden.
The Morton game a week earlier gave Marvin Compper an opportunity to show how match-fit he is – not sufficiently, was the outcome. Marvin is at the club to bring experience and stability to the defensive line. Our four games before the split are all against lower half of the league opposition. The German international must be given plenty of game time in the coming month.
What our central defence will look like for the qualifiers remains an open book. All five players discussed above are under consideration. I expect comings and goings throughout the window in this area too. Brendan will expect Marvin to play a significant part, but it will be a battle for all of them; which is a good thing.

I watch the BBC for World News,and the Sport that happens in Scotland, but all they have done is sicken me. No News whatsoever regarding our latest game.I was unwell at the weekend,and in my Bed when the Game was on.
Thankfully I spotted a post from The Exiled Tim giving information about the game being shown, I watch the whole game around 5.am the next day.
I enjoyed watching it but my god what a Referee.
I’ve seen some bad refereeing in my football supporting life watching Celtic, in the past,refs like Wharton, Davidson,Tait, Dallas.And the unbelievable the Reverend Mike McCurry, who managed to book 9 Celtic players against The cheaters of Scottish football, I thought that I would never see another Referee that could be as bad as him,
I was wrong,up steps the worst referee I have seen in Scottish football ever.
At least the ref’s named above were a bit more clever in covering up their love for the cheats of this World, Collum never even tried to covered up his mistakes.
He’s the worst referee I have ever seen, disgraceful refereeing, he should never referee another Celtic game in his life.
In fact he should never referee another game, ever.

Just watched the Killie Aberdeen highlights. Abysmal refereeing at Killie’s goal – Brophy totally takes out Logan (arguably couldn’t happen to a nicer person) but the ref and assistent ref give nothing.
The standard is getting worse. I’m not quite sure how, but somehow it is…
And the Dons penalty was just to “even things up” after the previous howler.

No. I think our fitness is fine and I don’t believe we have a problems with sport physics.
I believe we have a big problem with mental toughness and belief in European matches, especially away European games. I think this is a long inherited trait that we need to resolve.

Personally,I think that there is a lot to support the view that the teams who make the effort,and pay out the money,should get the benefit.
But there is merit in what you suggest. There are two teams on the pitch and providing the spectacle. I won’t split hairs about the percentages,but most leagues have separated into big boys and little boys since the gate-sharing was stopped.
Mind that time all the wee clubs had a whip round to help Celtic out of a financial hole?
It’s an altruistic suggestion, but gate sharing is gone, never to return.
