I’ve no fondness for Stuart McColl but I’m disappointed the wheels have fallen off Motherwell’s bogey this season. Delivering two consecutive second place finishes in a league populated with mostly better finances teams was exceptional. Over the last three years they have lost players instead of paying money they couldn’t afford, otherwise they would almost certainly be challenging at the top of the table.
I like Gordon Strachan. One of the things I like about him is he is almost impossible to get on-message. Talk about manipulating football in order to get the ‘right’ teams in the top division is ludicrous, Gordon knows this, or he wouldn’t have used a word like “manipulate”. On a substantive note, I think he’s wrong on this point.
The game changed when Rangers were liquidated, and it changed again when Hearts and Hibs were relegated. Fewer people buy tickets as there is not genuine competition for the league title, but some things we can do without.
Scottish football survived without the ticket money these clubs brought them, and the country’s streets, pubs and A&E departments have benefited from not having to cope with the sheer hassle we used to put up with.
I’ve enjoyed our four lower tier-only games this season, they were atmospheric and entertaining. If this was our future, I’d bite your hand off for it before I’d want to go back to the old ways.
Celtic, Motherwell, Aberdeen and the rest are defined on their own merits, and many of us are enjoying our football.

:))))) Brilliant…
I see there are a lot of people calling for Celtic to make some kind of statement putting “The Ibrox Club” in their place.
I respectfully disagree. I’m enjoying their absence and am happy ignoring them as long as I can.

Cheers buddy..
I admit to tuning in to clyde to hear NL. Poor poor show Neil. Short memories. Backing up wgs’s statement about getting the hun into top flight. So bad that Keevins put him right on that one.
Cringeworthy.
Anyway back to switching stations.
TET,
I know I’ve got a ticket if I want it, but still, I have this niggle about going, you have helped to dispel it somewhat.
Both my son and daughter think I’m trying to source one for them…no chance, I know how that mob hunt innocents down in packs, but I’ll let them think I tried. HH

No place for kids, and all Tims should make sure they are not alone, what a sad thing to say, but it will be necessary.
IMO, and it’s only mine, non attendance on our part, they win.

Translation on Diarra article:
As we had announced last Friday , Lassana Diarra well should continue his career in Scotland. Free agent since his departure, amicably, Lokomotiv Moscow midfielder French 29 -year-old agreed with Celtic on a six month contract with an option for an additional year . The club is currently third in the championship, two points behind leaders Dundee United but with a game in hand
One gesture I’d like to see us make would be for the club to announce that their share of the Hampden gate money would be donated to charity, just because we can!
And then watch them squirm!
CELTIC have denied reports that the club has signed former Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra.
According to France Football, the midfielder – who is a free agent after leaving Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow – had agreed to sign for the Hoops on an initial six month deal, with an option for a further year.
But the club have poured cold water on suggestions they had signed the ex-Arsenal star.
The former France international can call on a wealth of experience, including spells at Chelsea and Portsmouth, as well as Anzhi Makhachkala and Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia.
With 28 international caps under his belt, Diarra was linked with a move to Celtic last week and the 29-year-old reported
TET ,
Thanks for the reply.
Very few of us will turn our backs on the club.
My point was, as Auldheid and Italiabhoy, said, football people and it’s ancillaries, live in a bubble.
A bubble where their collective self interests are paramount.
That is the reality.
As you say, it has always been thus, but now, it has been exposed and, to date, the only block in the road was provided by the supporters of other clubs ; not ours.
If we wait for Celtic to emerge from the bubble, we will have a long wait.
Apart from, perhaps making us feel better, a definitive statement from Celtic would be twisted and thrown back at us ; but it won’t change the situation.
When you have the Minister of Snide making disingenuous comments on what , Guidetti and Deila didn’t actually say, I.e. diss his club and the national team manager publically advocating manipulating the system, both with impunity, without a hint of a disrepute charge, then, what effect would a statement from Celtic make, in practical terms.
The game is broken, nationally and internationally.
We still love the game.
We still support the game.
However, we are in support of a bad marriage and are condoning it by our support.
Have been intending to mail you for weeks.
Will do so, soon.
In my mind Celtic have to differentiate between two things at the league cup semi final.
The team they are playing and the supporters who are supporting this team.
To any neutral the idea that the supporters in blue, white and red are not the same ones who have been screaming abuse at Celtic supporters for the last 20, 40 100 years will be laughable.
No neutral will believe they are not rangers fans.
However, the team they are following were formed in 2012 from the remains of their previous, now dead, the origin all rangers.
That is the point to be made.
So Celtic should state something along the lines of “We welcome the renewed acquaintance of our fans biggest rivals, the rangers supporters. As they continue their footballing journey with their new team who have enjoyed back to back promotions in their first two years in the game”.
In four words.
“same fans, different club”.
A question..
Why do people need Celtic to say the Huns are a new club ?

NL is a soup taker. Get a grip
Looking at the reports about the team that played in the Youth Cup, this reads to me as strong a side at this level as I can remember.
Quality at the back, middle and front with more than a few experienced above this level. Shame SPFL hasn’t the cash to give them a decent league to play.
How cool was big

That’s all that matters mate, I know there a new club and I don’t need anybody else to confirm it and the best bit about it is the Huns know it aswell lol HH

Aye, problem is, a boycott will never work, hence a major dilemma for many supporters.
If there were to be an organised boycott, and I’m not necessarly talking about the hun game, but any boycott, I would support it, but it’s just not going to happen.
When the supporters of Aberdeen and D Utd showed, we were too busy laughing at the hun, and in many ways we still are, we have lost the chance, it’s too late, their bastard incarnation are almost among us, and when they are rising up the league with the help of honest mistakes, it will be pointless whinging about it, that should have been done long before now.
