Formation and why we will be ready for Sunday

704

Patrick Roberts is back and fit, and has previous good form against Newco, but Brendan has relied heavily on James Forrest this season, so may be disposed to prefer the latter for Sunday.  I am usually clear on which of the two I prefer against any opposition (James for teams who press us, leaving space for him to exploit, Patrick for teams who defend deep), but I am pulled two ways this time.

If pushed, I would go with James, leaving Patrick as a option when legs are tired.

We don’t usually have chats about which goalkeeper to play, but Scott Bain and Craig Gordon will both be hoping to start.  Craig is fit, so If Scott gets the nod, it may indicate that the ongoing first choice keeper slot is up for grabs.

I expect we will see the return of a more recognisable back four, with Michael Lustig returning in place of Jack Hendry.  How Brendan deploys Dedryck Boyata will be crucial.  The opening goal we lost at Ibrox last month came from a ploy Newco have used repeatedly against us since the 2016 Scottish Cup semi-final.

Their players will often stand off Celtic but press Dedryck whenever he is in possession.  Dedryck needs options available or he should go Route One.

Tom Rogic travelled a lot of miles and played a lot of football in March, so I am sure he was rested at Hamilton to ensure he would be in prime shape for Sunday.  Brown and Ntcham will sit behind him and Dembele will lead the line.

This leaves one place to be filled by Sinclair, Armstrong or McGregor.  My preference would be to favour the middle of the park.  Control passing in the central area and we will win comfortably.  We failed to dominate there in each of our three draws against Newco (2-2, 1-1, 0-0).  McGregor would get the nod for this task, where I would ask him to play a conserved, always-available, role.

The manager has had a week at Lennoxtown with his team – a rare luxury for Celtic.  So chill, we will be ready.

Win Two Scottish Cup semi-final tickets for the Celtic end on Sunday

Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, have very kindly donated two tickets which you can win, and help the Celtic FC Foundation.  All you need to do is answer this simple question:

Which ground can Celtic win the league at on 21 April?

The competition has only been live for a day, closing 13:00 today Friday 13th, so if you don’t have a ticket, you have very little time to do something about it……

To enter, make a £5 minimum donation to the Foundation at this MyDonate link.  Then send your confirmation email to celticquicknews@gmail.com WITH THE ANSWER IN THE SUBJECT LINE.  If you are not on your email this afternoon, include your phone number.

Tickets will be available for collection at Celtic Park on Sunday lunchtime.

Two tickets, Celtic end, Sunday…………  Good luck and thanks to Intelligent Car Leasing and all who enter!

    “”””””””””””””””””

    HH fella.

I refer very fondly to the Parkheid Jungle.

To me, it was a sacred place.

Pish flowed down the walk ways, but, for me, it was sacred.

Jesus was born in a stable, then when he was up and about a wee bit, he was escorted to other sacred places, on a donkey.

Jesus might not be the correct person to use in any preferred up to date analogy of Celtic supporters being cheated by the establishment, as Jesus would have asked you, to turn the other cheek and be cheated some more.

But then again, isnt, turning the other cheek and being cheated some more, exactly what Celtic PLC and, Celtic supporters – are doing ?

It certainly looks like it to me.

Ye see, in the day’s of the Parkheid Jungle, I dont recall seeing too many holy Joe’s in there.

Maybe they were all in the main stand ?

    Who knows ?

What I do know, is this…..

It was Parkheid Junglists from the Celtic end at Hampdump in the 1980 SCF riot, who were left with little choice but to, enter the field of play after full time, to defend the young autograph hunting fraternity of the Celtic

support from, violent assault or worse, from the defeated rioting huns who laid siege to any Celtic supporter in their wake.

Strangely, or not, as soon as the pitch invading Parkheid Junglists had sent out the message of ” come ahead huns!” there were riot squads of cops appeared, strange how they waited till the Parkheid Junglists defended the Celtic end, before any cops appeared ? Maybe not.

These same Parkheid Junglists, ten years later, in a home defeat by a David Moyes inspired Dunfermline team, defeated big Billy’s hapless Celts and, that lit the touchpaper for, the Parkheid Junglists to chant an assortment of, long deserved, long overdue abuse, in a straight direction of the Celtic board who sat directly across the pitch, in the directors box. Some fans made their way round to the front door of the main stand and, continued their protest with chants of, “Sack the board” etc.

The cracks were papered over for a few weeks, with the SC 3rd tie coming up at Celtic Park vs the huns were we won 1-0 via a Tommy Coyne goal.

The simmering unrest trundled on until, Willie Wilson’s Save Our Celt’s, organised his units innaugural meeting at the Shettleston Halls as, hundreds of concerned Celtic supporters searched for a straw to grasp in hope that our beloved club could, somehow, anyhow, find a way out of what was only the start of the dark tunnel of the 1990’s, the dark tunnel was successfully negotiated in later years by, Matt McGlone etc’s Celts For Change group which eventually, organised the fans onto the same page, well, most of them and, the Kilmarnock game at Celtic Park was bhoycotted by “brave” Celtic supporters who put the very future of Celtic FC before their own wee personal importance agenda’s of being afraid to miss a game.

The club changed hands and, the item that seemed to get lost in the small print was, the seizing of fan power from future generations of Celtic supporters, when Fergus jumped into the Old Firm bed with David Murray and announced entrapment by season ticket, when both FM and DM held the smoking season ticket gun to supporters heads by informing them, if you don’t buy a season ticket, you’ll not get into the Old Firm game!

In other words,we’ve got yeez by the chucky ar la’s.

Season tickets mean fans have no veto.

In other words, the PLC own you.

The PLC disrespected the fans by their deliberate downsizing of the quality of the product on the pitch, and in the dugout.

Apathy kicked in and, 30,000 empty seats appeared.

Only then, did the PLC respond by bringing in Brendan.

But, and this is crucial, the PLC decided to put the Celtic support to the test, on the back of the Brendan bounce.

The PLC are well aware of the disgruntlement amongst the support, especially surrounding the Rangers / Sevco same club lie issue.

So, the PLC, sneakily imho, put the price of Old Firm tickets at @ £49, the same price of ticket for, Rangers FC, is also the same price for games against Sevco FC.

Now, if that isn’t sneaky, sleekit, cheap, then what is it ?

So, I again ask the question, are the Celtic support selling their souls for £49 ?

Have the PLC shown the establishment, just how easily played, the Celtic support of 2018 are going to be ?

The Celtic support of 2018, armed to the gunnels with, mountain, after mountain, after mountain of evidence that they have been cheated since David Murray got hold of the ibrokes keys, and, to this day, the Celtic season ticket holding support, continue to finacially back a PLC board who, not only refuse to action this incontestable evidence, they actually join in on the cheating of Celtic supporters by paying a manager £45 k a week, and to serve as a fudge of the same club lie £49 ticket switcheroo. Ah mean, how unpalatable must the stench of corruption actually get before the Celtic support of 2018, refuse to financially back an, Old Firm Orientated PLC board and do what their forebearers would have done and, get rid of the PLC imposters, reconstruct the club, and do what McCann deiiberately failed to do, give the club back to the Celtic support.

What the Parkheid Jungle would have given to be armed to the gunnels with proof of hun cheating.

    Take care, HH
