Patrick Roberts is back and fit, and has previous good form against Newco, but Brendan has relied heavily on James Forrest this season, so may be disposed to prefer the latter for Sunday. I am usually clear on which of the two I prefer against any opposition (James for teams who press us, leaving space for him to exploit, Patrick for teams who defend deep), but I am pulled two ways this time.
If pushed, I would go with James, leaving Patrick as a option when legs are tired.
We don’t usually have chats about which goalkeeper to play, but Scott Bain and Craig Gordon will both be hoping to start. Craig is fit, so If Scott gets the nod, it may indicate that the ongoing first choice keeper slot is up for grabs.
I expect we will see the return of a more recognisable back four, with Michael Lustig returning in place of Jack Hendry. How Brendan deploys Dedryck Boyata will be crucial. The opening goal we lost at Ibrox last month came from a ploy Newco have used repeatedly against us since the 2016 Scottish Cup semi-final.
Their players will often stand off Celtic but press Dedryck whenever he is in possession. Dedryck needs options available or he should go Route One.
Tom Rogic travelled a lot of miles and played a lot of football in March, so I am sure he was rested at Hamilton to ensure he would be in prime shape for Sunday. Brown and Ntcham will sit behind him and Dembele will lead the line.
This leaves one place to be filled by Sinclair, Armstrong or McGregor. My preference would be to favour the middle of the park. Control passing in the central area and we will win comfortably. We failed to dominate there in each of our three draws against Newco (2-2, 1-1, 0-0). McGregor would get the nod for this task, where I would ask him to play a conserved, always-available, role.
The manager has had a week at Lennoxtown with his team – a rare luxury for Celtic. So chill, we will be ready.
Win Two Scottish Cup semi-final tickets for the Celtic end on Sunday
Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, have very kindly donated two tickets which you can win, and help the Celtic FC Foundation. All you need to do is answer this simple question:
Which ground can Celtic win the league at on 21 April?
The competition has only been live for a day, closing 13:00 today Friday 13th, so if you don’t have a ticket, you have very little time to do something about it……
To enter, make a £5 minimum donation to the Foundation at this MyDonate link. Then send your confirmation email to celticquicknews@gmail.com WITH THE ANSWER IN THE SUBJECT LINE. If you are not on your email this afternoon, include your phone number.
Tickets will be available for collection at Celtic Park on Sunday lunchtime.
Two tickets, Celtic end, Sunday………… Good luck and thanks to Intelligent Car Leasing and all who enter!

Said goodbye to the greatest Celtic man I’ve known. My Uncle Peter ran a bus from Shawhead for years and followed the team home and away. He was well dressed as he went into the ground, but had his Celtic top and scarf with him as well as photos of him with various players over the years. Also the first time I’ve hear Rodgers and Hammerstein on a church organ.
Peter – You’ll Never Walk Alone.
Hail hail.

Rest in Peace.

Also talking about snooker I nearly got a 147 last week. I missed the first red.lol.
Hello again all you young rebels.
I’t’s been a very busy last few weeks here in Oz, lots of
extra training for our bhoys with the season starting
tomorrow.
The Celtic coaches have been at our club putting them
through the same training routines used at Lennoxtown
and it’s been a revelation, some of the watching parents
were even clapping when any particular move resulted in
a goal.
They travel on to New Zealand now for more sessions over
there, so it’s great that the Celtic net is spreading far and
wide for kids to learn to play the Celtic way.
And best of all they brought BIG EARS with them which was
proudly displayed in the club lounge with a poster of big
handsome Tom Rogic beside it.
Very heartening to see kids and parents queueing up to take
pictures of the cup, and of course the wee mhan just had to
point out the Celtic name proudly engraved on it to everyone.
He got the usual ” weve won it more times than you ” from
the epl fuds but he’s always ready with his ” aye bit we dun
it furst ” and you just had to laugh when he pointed out to
Man City and Arsenal fans ” don’t see your name on it ” lol.

Right guys , i’ve been looking through goals from Freekicks . Has there ever been a more consistant (goals scored ) Freekick taker than NAKA , the guy was a genius imo .
Marspapa, great tunes.
Naka was the best I ever saw. From all over the place, diificult angles, bendy shots.
Missed the quiz tonight after the first round but it looks like everyone else enjoyed it!
Mahe – sterling work!
Watching Roger Daltrey on the Graham Norton Show – he’s still got it at 74! (Daltrey, not Norton).

The poverty of Sevco laid bare by Murty:
Murty explained Rangers had offered Bates fresh terms, only for him to choose to find his future away from Glasgow. The Rangers manager said he was not surprised by the decision, adding: “We offered him a contract that we felt was good enough to see him stay.
“I am disappointed more than surprised that he hasn’t accepted it. The economic reality is they have come in and made an offer that we can’t match. Their demands for parity on that weren’t something we were prepared to match.
“What he wanted was excessive and it wasn’t something we could or were prepared to pay. Whether he has made a mistake will only be borne out by what happens in the future but he has taken the opportunity to go and expand his football knowledge elsewhere.
Cannae afford £7.5K a week? How the feck can they recruit in the summer when that’s out there as a guideline?

i’d like to post some of the music i used to watch my mum and dad dance to in our living room back in Easterhouse.
I used to sit at her feet next to the coal fire and we’d watch the auld black and white movies together when my dad was on shifts .
Usually as the film would build to a dramatic climax the money would run oot in the tv meter lol.
The good old days when she’d put a newspaper across her legs and ‘Bonecomb ma heed fur nits ‘ ….aye they were the days ??

Brendan sounded the BATTLE cry.
I just wish I was there. Aidan wants to go to the games with me…… I told him to join a Bus to make sure he gets a ticket against the Newco @ the Dump.
Nah rejoin the hcts…. well it wasn’t quite like that.
I said to him that it wasn’t worth it rejoining when missing just 1 game, never mind 2 or 3. I so wanted him to see the Celts against the Newco. It didnae happen.
The Wee Man disnae ask much from me, he never has but when he said rejoin the hcts (with the Look) I’m likely to do it.

FFS, just back in and missed the quiz.
