FORREST FLIES THE FLAG

JAMES FORREST will be flying the flag for Celtic at the weekend – literally.

The evergreen Hoops winger, who has been granted a well-deserved testimonial game against Athletic Bilbao at Parkhead this evening, will be doing the honours on Saturday before the Premiership kick-off against Ross County.

Forrest, who has won 22 medals in his glittering career since making a goalscoring debut against Motherwell in May 2010, will have the honour of unfurling the flag ahead of the campaign’s opener in front of a sold-out stadium in the east end of Glasgow, as reported on the club website.

NATIONAL TREASURES…James Forrest is flanked by David Turnbull and Greg Taylor as Celtic celebrate their Scottish Cup Final success at Hampden on June 3.

The 32-year-old Scotland international will take centre stage before the 12.30pm start against Malky Mackay’s Highlanders as he raises the club’s 53rd league flag in their glorious history.

Forrest has figured in a phenomenal ELEVEN of those crowning glories.

The forward has made 467 appearances for the Hoops and claimed 101 goals, with his magical centaury arriving with a brilliant hat-trick in a 6-1 victory over Hibs at Parkhead in October last year.
