News that Fraser Forster has signed a long term contract with Celtic, who will pay Newcastle United £2m for his services, adds some welcome stability ahead of the Champions League qualifiers. Buying a new, first-choice, keeper is fraught with the kind of difficulties Neil Lennon would rather avoid.
Last summer we looked at Croatian international Stipe Pletikosa, who performed at the European Championships, but he failed to impress during his trial period at Celtic, including a poor performance against Wolves at Celtic Park.
Last year we also looked at Polish cap, Gregorz Sandomierski, who subsequently went to Belgian club racing Genk for €3m, but he failed to make a competitive appearance for Genk and was shipped back to Poland on loan. By comparison, Forster, who turned 24 on St Patrick’s Day, cemented his place with the champions.
Last year Celtic concluded a provisional deal with Newcastle to sign Fraser on a permanent deal this summer but although player and club were both keen to do business, negotiations took until the end of the players’ summer break, perhaps reflecting a tightening of Celtic’s finances ahead of what could be a period of financial uncertainty in the Scottish game.

When you consider the situation with Airdrie they liquidated, bought the share of Clydebank, re-named the Clydebank and re-located to New Broomfield. What would stop Sevco doing the same with Cowdenbeath? Any reason that this cannot be done? I’m not advocating this, I just believe that they will not have a back-up plan and with Donald Findlay Chairman of Cowdenbeath I’m sure he would be happy to oblige!
Henry Mcleish being rolled out on STV about the future of Scottish Football and no doubt be primed by interviewer as to why it will be Armageddon if newco don’t get into the first division.

read earlier about some poor scmuck getting his phone wet, take it from me, dropped my phone down the shunky IN A SOBER WAY, and immediately fished it out and put it in rice etc. Unfortunately it was a blackberry, p1sh at the best of times, anyhoo, there is a liitle white piece of paper, either on the battery or on the phone near the battery contacts, which turns red in contact with water. Don’t do what I did, and make a tit of yourself by denying it!
Good thing was, got shot of the blackberry!

1. Find a wee home for the much maligned Rangers. They bring lots of cash to the table.

3. Look at the bigger picture, not just your clubs interest.

Going there wasn’t so bad. Coming back pissed was torture and by the time I got back I’d sobered up.

Mcleish was saying there had to be a place for them, that they should pay the price of their folly (still thinks its RFC then) but either div1 or div3. He was constantly being pushed into giving his view on the newco situation whilst trying to mention his blueprint for Scottish football but interviewer Mckay wasn’t interested, Mcleish says he understood fans anger on sporting integrity

Don’t shoot the messenger but apparently a u-turn is underway over the huns in the SPL. Doncaster has promised a secret ballot – allowing plausible deniability – and Rangers have agreed to a raft of sanctions including sporting and monetary. The vote will be postponed to allow the agreement to be ratified. Again, dont shoot the messenger.
