GABBY’S CELTIC HINT

FORMER England and Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor has admitted he would be interested in joining Celtic.

The 31-year-old is up for grabs after being released in the summer, ending his 17-year association with the Midlands outfit.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is on the look-out to beef up his frontline options following the £19.7million sale of Moussa Dembele to Lyon just hours before the transfer deadline.

At the moment he has £9million man Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths vying for the main striking position, but the Irishman knows he requires back-up in case of injury or suspensions.

Agbonlahor, who won three caps for his country, scored in the 3-3 draw between Stiliyan Petrov’s Hoops line-up and James Milner’s Liverpool eleven in the Match For Cancer at Parkhead on Saturday.

He said: “At the moment, I am a free agent and considering my options. I want to do what is best for me and my family.

“I have young kids and for me to move to another place and another country is a big decision. I certainly want to play on and I wouldn’t rule out anything.

“I will discuss things with my agent and we’ll decide what happens next. If they had the chance to play for Celtic, every player would take it.

“You would have to speak to Celtic and see if they are interested. If the opportunity comes for me to play in Scotland and the move is right for me and my family, then I would certainly look at it.

“It is a tough league. There are the likes of Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts who all have some great players in their sides.

“I’m raring to go. I feel fit and I have been keeping myself ticking over.”
