Give me Cluj, Jullien time

76

While Celtic go through the motions in Estonia tonight, Cluj take a one-goal lead to Tel-Aviv to face Maccabi to determine who we face in the next round.  Cluj enjoyed a 1-0 home win over Dinamo Bucharest on Saturday.  Dinamo have not won a point or scored a goal in their three league games this season, so that win was little more than functionary.  The Israeli season has yet to start and Maccabi had the week off in preparation for the second leg.  Including friendlies, Maccabi have played only five games this season.

Neither team are as strong as AEK Athens, whom we met in the third round last season, but I would prefer Cluj to progress, possibly due to the fright we got the last time we were in Israel against Be’er Shiva.

With little at risk, tonight is a perfect opportunity for Christopher Jullien to make his competitive debut.  Five games across the next four weeks will go a long way to determine the outcome of our season.  We will need a solid central defensive partnership to succeed.  Christopher will need to get match fit in a short space of time.

  1. You know the guy I’m talking about Maradominic. Let’s give the bhoy a chance to show us what he is about before dismissing him as a genuine right back.

  2. Well it’s obvious to me that calmac and James haven’t travelled because ….

    A. Arsenal

    B Southampton

    C Leicester

Or some other giants of English football have made a bid …

Oh wait a minute ..nobodies ever made a bid for James …😋😂

Wonder if any one will think he was invisible tonight ?

Hoping for a win later on today, if not in quite the same manner as the one at Celtic Park. Chance for a different set-up maybe. Of course we must be the only club in Europe where away wins in CL qualification do not count as er away wins in Europe. Not easy playing actual champions sometimes. Assuming we do go through would probably prefer going back to the Holy Land, given that the champions of Romania might just get to be a bit stronger than the champions of Israel. Good draw either way.

    `… Welsh part-time team beat them there!`

That, funnily enough, is one of the reasons I feel Killie will not lose their game V Sevco.

`says a lot about their mindset (arrogant whether they are good or bad), and ours (struggle to enjoy success as we are scared of losing it). A load of historical, cultural and political reasons for it but i really do think it is still there unfortunately`

Or, as they say in other parts of Glasgow…..

“Lets see what you could have won”

  7. if we are up for it we should get more than 5.. they will have to come out… hope Henderson gets some time on pitch. he is a real football player. Whop looks better the more players in fromt of him making runs.. Like the Maestro as he looked better the better the forwards playing. Not so good with Wayne Biggins

My Killie mad cousin told me they are atrocious under this new guy, no organization. So I’m not too confident of Killie getting anything from that game.

  9. Like most, I’m expecting to see a changed side tonight :

  10. INIQUITOUS IV,

Iknow what you were getting at,but the players we went in for,in the English market, were fair game.We had our price, other clubs had theirs.I will bet you Lenny has around 100 players Bio’son his desk.We know what the price is,what the wages are.Lenny himself said it was a nonsense we could not compete with Championship sides, wages wise. There are a multitude of reasons why certain players wont sign for us,as much as that, for some ridiculous reason, irks a lot of our fans.

Long way to go yet in the window.

    In Lenny I trust.

  14. 2times the Huns went to Killie last year, and their team included,Ryan Ronaldo Kent, think about that stat, and failed to win.Same type ofvKillie team,Huns without their Superstar talisman.I would not bet.

Kents astonishing record from last season,6 goals,4 assists.Could possibly be vice versa, but who cares.
