Greatest fans in the world? You better believe it

1196

Some weeks ago I received a painting of Neil Lennon in the post from US based artist, Joseph Gormley.  We put it onto eBay this week to get our launch our 2012 charity fundraising efforts.  As well as a couple of local charities we will again donate to the Martin Chambers Ecuador Trust and Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.  After so many Celtic fans have been touched by three kids, Oscar, Niamh and Vanessa, this year we added The Neuroblastoma Alliance who do research work into the childhood cancer.

The auction raised an incredible £5000.  When I contacted the winning bidder and discussed some of the stories behind the beneficiaries I had to insist he took the painting, he was so affected he wanted to return it for another auction to raise more money.  Joseph Gormley was so inspired by the success of the auction he has already offered to paint other subjects for us and I have a jersey signed by the Seville team in the pipeline.

So, if you were one of those who bid an incredible amount but were pipped at the post (and there were a few in this category), there will be another chance soon.

Running this blog gives me the privilege of witnessing so many great works, most of which come with the request of anonymity.  It’s a real honour.

Well done and thank you.

How can Bill Millar ” negotiate ” SFA or SPL rules….? According to D&P that’s the fact and latest.

  2. Auld Neil Lennon heid on

Not sure who he was but the caller on Traynor’s wiped the floor with both Traynor and the Raith Rovers supporter who was criticising Neil Lennon, ably demonstrating the intellectual gap that is opening up between Celtic men and Rangers men.

  3. Mackie is a good player for QPR, remember him destroying Evra earlier on in the season, probably out of our price range now.

Funny seeing the 2 Spurs fans in the QPR end looking miserable when the goal went in, the fans knew who their were :O)

I do hope Celtic are on the phone to both SFA and UEFA reminding them of their resonsibility to uphold sporting integrity.

  5. Allgreen tthinks SPL are at it on

The Hun should have been sent off today but with next week in mind get a yellow so no follow so no retrospective red can be issued.

To be honest the tackle was almost a police matter it was that bad.

I see some of us are predicting an easy win for us next week. A few things will stop that.

The referee will have a say. We won’t be allowed to defend ourselves without punishment.

The Hun players will want to go out on a high. They will run through walls for the scum and it will get physical.

Our form isn’t good enough recently to beat the Huns easily.Unless we score early we seem to miss a load of chance, we’ve topped being ruthless They still have most of their midfield and defence even in admin.

Putting it all together my sense is Miller has spoken to SPL but not to SFA (who ultimately license for SPL)…and are the appeal body…

  7. Have a read at this:

“The General Motors Chapter 11 sale of the assets of automobile manufacturer General Motors and some of its subsidiaries was implemented through section 363 of Chapter 11, Title 11, United States Code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. The United States government-endorsed sale enabled the NGMCO Inc. (“New GM”) to purchase the continuing operational assets of the old GM. Normal operations, including employee compensation, warranties, and other customer service were uninterrupted during the bankruptcy proceedings. Operations outside of the United States were not included in the court filing.

“On July 10, 2009, a new entity completed the purchase of continuing operations, assets and trademarks of GM as a part of the ‘pre-packaged’ Chapter 11 reorganization. As ranked by total assets, GM’s bankruptcy marks one of the largest corporate Chapter 11 bankruptcies in U.S. history. The Chapter 11 filing was the fourth-largest in U.S. history, following Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., Washington Mutual and WorldCom Inc. A new entity with the backing of the United States Treasury was formed to acquire profitable assets, under section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code, with the new company planning to issue an initial public offering (IPO) of stock in 2010. The remaining pre-petition creditors’ claims are paid from the former corporation’s assets.”

My uneducated reading of the GM restructuring is that the Newco had most of the assets transferred to it while the Oldco retained all of the debt.

Could this be the incubator model?

If so, has anyone told Bill Miller that, while there may be similarities between Govan and the deep south, the US Chapter 11 legislation doesn’t apply?

  8. Well done to the guy that won the auction, but the nature of this type of event means that a very limited number of fans have an opportunity to participate. What we had with the painting were two fans who could afford 5k. Everyone else who would have loved an opportunity to participate were unable to weigh in. I think the same amount could be raised here in an auction format. That way everyone has a chance to donate and one of our CQN friends woudl be a likely winner. Just my 2c.

  9. Anybody else other than me think that Monday will bring nothing other than some “the Rangers are saved “headlines?

I do not share the optimism of the majority on here, this guy from Duff and Duffer sounded very confident that Buffalo Bill has been in touch about squeezing the newco in with lower penalties, TBK `s have found some new horses and are still trying to get Ticketus on board, I strongly believe that the willpower of the establishment will be enough to see HMRC accept a cva, and feck everyone else.

The rule changing and rushing through of new SPL proposals are all part of the Save the Institution campaign.

Far from being a great week, I fear another one like the one that was book ended by Ipox and Hampden, watch and see what they will get away with against us next week, sorry bhoys but I smell a huge rat in amongst all of this.

Hail Hail, HEBCELT……….I’ve never been happier in my (football) life……..

When is even one of these bigoted pundits going to tell the Fud callers that, forget this season’s league, if RIA hadn’t AGAIN spent money they didn’t actually have, on players like jellyfish, buggoora etc, hey wouldn’t have won any league over the past 3 years …….the hyporacy is astounding….

Anyway, look forward to seeing you, and all the ‘lounge’ Bhoys, next Sunday

Real Madrid (4-2-3-1): Casillas, Coentrao, Ramos, Pepe, Arbeloa, Khedira, Alonso, Ronaldo, Ozil, Di Maria, Benzema.

Barcelona (0-10-0): Valdes, Alves, Mascherano, Puyol, Adriano, Xavi, Busquets, Thiago, Tello, Messi, Iniesta.

  16. Watching the ads during el classico build up – Rooney’s overhead – is it my imagination or did not Stokes score one similar?

    Anyone got a link?

As I type I can remember Shaun scoring a topper but I’m convinced Anthony did too.

At Barca V Celtic, our tickets were at a hotel which wasnt the one we were staying at. I got sent to collect them. Taxi driver took me to the hotel, got the tickets, then asked if I wanted to go to his local. Aye. He parked up the taxi for the day (didnt charge me for the fayre) and brought me into his pub. All his mates bought me drink all afternoon, wouldnt let me buy a round. Then THEY called for a taxi and sent me back to my hotel whereupon a group of Celtic supporters kicked the sh*t out of me.

So Miller spoke to the SFA after all hmmmm.

Corrupt to the core the lot of them.

    ======================

The SFA must make their authority over the SPL clear. Much of the confusion is down to the SFAa’s reluctance to govern.

Had it been anyone but Rangers the club would be sitting without a license.
