LEIGH GRIFFITHS will continue to set himself goal targets for the remainder of a prolific campaign.
The Celtic frontman claimed his 30th goal of the season in the 2-0 win over Ross County last week and is now looking to add to that.
However, after netting 57 goals for the Hoops since Neil Lennon paid £1million to sign him from Wolves in January 2014, he reckons he has some way to go to catch up with Henrik Larsson’s total of 242 strikes for the club!
Griffiths said: “I was brought here two years ago to score goals and that’s what I have done so far – and I won’t stop.
“My next target is 35. I will just keep playing well and if the chances keep falling my way, I will try to keep scoring goals.
“It was important to get back to winning ways against Ross County after the two defeats, albeit we won in the Scottish Cup against East Kilbride last week.
“However, to get back on track with a 2-0 victory and a clean sheet, which keeps us top of the league, meant it was a good Saturday for us.
”When the boys click it’s a joy to watch. It can be frustrating at times for the fans, but we want to keep the ball as much as possible and make the opposition run about and when the spaces open up, we will try to exploit them.”
Griffiths hopes to carry on scoring when John Hughes brings Scottish Cup holders Inverness Caley Thistle to the east end of Glasgow on Saturday.
He added: “Inverness will be similar to Ross County. They will come and try to counter-attack, but if we play as we did against County, especially as we did in the second half, I’m sure we will have no problems.”
