Hearts away troubles since August

358

You and I are preoccupied with winning tonight to ensure the gap at the top of the table does not grow beyond the four points it was before this round of games got underway.  Hearts have a different focus; a win would see them leapfrog Celtic into second place.

Early in the season Robbie Neilson was back at or near the top of the table, enjoying the kind of form Hearts showed before he left for MK Dons five years ago yesterday.  His stay in Milton Keynes was a disaster and Heats fared no better with a trio of underperforming managers appointed in his wake.

Form soon slipped, especially away from home, where they have picked up only three points since August, half the amount they collected that month.  Since then they have lost at Motherwell and Aberdeen, while collecting a point at Newco, Ross County and St Johnstone.

I’ve read through match reports for the last two months, it is a tale of attacking abandon at home and belligerent negativity away, marked by red cards on their previous two travels.  We can expect shed loads of belligerence tonight.

They did, of course, beat Celtic 2-1 on the opening game of the season, but that was then.  Celtic have changed beyond all recognition in the months since, notably as Tynecastle debutant, Kyogo, settled into life in Scotland.  Two weeks later Celtic produced one of the most scintillating displays of the season to knock Hearts out of the League Cup, although the 3-2 score suggests otherwise.

Celtic are closing in on full strength going into an intense December fixture list.  If we deliver on our own potential, we don’t need to worry about referees elsewhere.  3 points please, Celtic.

  1. 2 midweek games,2 cheats,Beaton stops a Hibs attack as a Sevco man is down, Madhun stops a Celtic attack, when a Hearts player is at it,both non head injuries, that’s the only way a game should be stopped.

Really need someone like a Scales, Soro, Johnston, Ajeti and the like emerging before our core 14 or so keel over with more injuries. They must be piss poor in training.

    ——————–

Soro never got a look in until the tombola team selections from around now last year. He has since dropped out. Might be on the ‘bad buy’ list again.

I think we all agree that Ajeti was a bad buy and is in the departure lounge. We really need another reliable striker and another development striker. We lost Edouard and Griffiths in the summer. Giakoumakis might come good but I’m not convinced

Scales I saw in a couple of Shamrock Rovers euro games only. Enthusiastic and strong but the LOI at the moment is very poor fare so I don’t expect him to be a starter this season

The other squad players showed nothing pre-season apart from Murray. A loan for him would be great in Jan, especially as Julienne is back at some point

I’m frustrated with Johnston. Loads of skill but is getting more selfish with the ball and breaking our discipline. I think he could be a player with us but if we let him go to a less dominant team he will struggle big time and become a luxury. It’s in his interests to knuckle down and develop while with us

the only example on the BBC was Jota going down and play stopping 😎

  4. Coneybhoy,

I thought Soro could do a job but clearly the manager thinks differently.

I thought Bolingoli could do a job but clearly likewise. etc etc. Monty, a left winger, gets the nod.

Johnston has been really poor since coming back and maybe (as I like him) he can play himself into a game.

The problem is that we are in danger of calling on these guys regardless of the manager’s view in December and I just wonder if we can manage that squad better wioth that in mind. Appreciate not an easy one.

Not only do we want to get to January but we want our best 11 on the pitch for a badly needed win against the hun. What shape will they be in by then…?

  6. Big W- Starfelt looked like a Celtic player last night, he really dug in during that 15 minute spell of pressure in the 2nd half

  7. I believe the Thatcher effect took a generation to kick in. The individual is king now and raising tax or spending more on services is a massive vote loser.

    Coneybhoy yesterday

That was her ideology.individual over society.

She was of hayek/freedman/Keith Joseph monetarist school.

    The individual over the collective.

She smashed it and collective socialism.

She confirmed it and was bold enough to take victory in a speech to church of Scotland.

    Good input from markiebhoy/por certainly

The cancer of individualism over the collective is shown here when George galloway “plants” can actively work and campaign against labour as he did in Batley. Hardly surprising as previous labour leaders only advanced individual capitaism
