Hearts biggest hurdle is the Celtic jersey

69 games undefeated in domestic football, setting a new Scottish record, but eventually, Things Fall Apart and Celtic lost 4-0 at Tynecastle.  It was Brendan Rodgers’ first defeat to a Scottish club, 18 months after taking over as manager.  Celtic were not even bad that day; when Hearts went three ahead shortly after halftime, the comeback was still a real possibility.  We didn’t make the most of our chances and everything they hit flew into the net.  There is always a danger, even against poor teams.

Whatever joy Hearts felt that day was sorely paid for since.  In the 21 subsequent games between the sides, Celtic won on 19 occasions.  The only two exceptions came when Celtic were in the middle of European qualifiers.  As a friend noted yesterday, Hearts players biggest hurdle is seeing the Celtic jersey.  They just cannot cope against imperious champions.

Curiously, elsewhere, people are looking at Celtic’s two visits to Edinburgh within the next eight days and seeing opportunity for themselves, hoping their Hour Come Round at Last.  You and I are well used to hearing at this time of year, the Second Coming is at hand.  Two wins for the good guys will fix that nonsense.

    RE MILAN 1970.

     

     

    After NOT taking me to Lisbon in 1967, my DA offered me that chance to go with him to MILAN for the Final against Feyenoord.

     

    I think he was planning a Trip by Aeroplane this time ?

     

     

    I was only 14 years of age at the time, and the WORLD CUP in Mexico was due to start in June 1970.

     

    I didnt live with my DA, but he asked me…” Will we go to Milan…or will I buy a COLOUR TV “, as he couldnt afford both.

     

     

    My Grand Parents who brought me up, had just bought our First Colour TV, so I was looking forward to watching the World Cup in Colour.

     

    I thought about my DAs question for about TWO MINUTES, and I told him….” DA….Just buy the Colour TV ”

     

     

    He did indeed buy a Colour TV instead of going to Milan, and I was so glad he did after the Horrible Result in that Final v Feyenoord.

     

    It just wasnt Celtics night…Sadly.

     

     

    The following month ( June 1970) was to become the BEST World Cup that I have ever seen…so many great Countries involved….West Germany, Italy…and of course the Fabulous BRAILIANS with PELE and his mates.

     

     

    It was probably the ONLY piece of advice that my DA has ever taken from me !

    Art of War: Fibbers will show the match and there’ll be some supporters there. Doesn’t always prioritise the Celtic supporters though. Monaghans a few doors away will also show it. Lewis is a Celtic supporters bar in Benalmadena near the marina. The 120 bus will take you there, or you could get a taxi.

    opinion.

    I see a few have left out the postponed game predictions. You can still put in predictions for the postponed games and , provided you do not lock in your predictions (with the lock icon), you can change them when or before the match is due to take place. I do this as I often forget when there is an isolated replay of a postponed match on a midweek date.

    As the group in question has been informed in writing, this decision to suspend access to away tickets relates to very clear and extremely serious unsafe and unacceptable behaviour at recent away matches, including those against Feyenoord and Motherwell. As an example, at Feyenoord, widespread and unsafe use of pyrotechnics resulted in another fine for the Club from UEFA. Investigations are ongoing in relation to unsafe behaviour at Motherwell, including rushing turnstiles and forcing open fire exits to permit access to individuals without tickets.

    On the face of it, no complaints.

     

     

    I’m puzzled though how Celtic can identify those responsible? The statements says investigations are ongoing yet the ban is immediate. Some would see this as a prejudgement.

    England were very lucky in the way the seeding ( a few years ago) panned out.

     

    South Africa will be hot, hot favourites to beat them and I expect they will. If so, a SA v NZ Final is fine but had the four best teams met in the semis, Ireland would have been there with France and even Scotland were higher ranked than England.

     

    Sport being sport one never knows but I would expect a 20 point ( or more) victory for SA tonight.

    Chuckled to hear him say Jack Ryan was not free to play…

     

     

    So let’s hope via Hibs they face some Clear and Present Danger leading to the Sum of All Fears resulting in Clement reaching Firing Point…

    If a bookie shortens the price on a team, they usually lengthen the price on the other team. Has Sevco’s price increased?

     

     

    When that happens, it’s usually down to the lack of bets placed on the team who’s price has lengthened, as well as more money being placed in the side who’s price has shortened. All about balancing the books.

    But I hope you get my drift. When a bookie lengthens the odds, it’s usually an attempt to attract bets on that selection (to balance the books…as too much is being placed on the other team)
