Helsingborgs indifferent domestic form

791

Helsingborgs IF are sixth after 17 games in the Swedish Allsvenskan, seven points off Elfsborg and Malmo, who ended Scotland’s interest in the Champions League last season.  Our opponents clearly play it tight on the road, they have lost only eight goals away from home, considerably fewer than anyone else in the league (Malmo: 19), although their home goals for and against are not unusually low (scored 14 to Malmo’s 16 at home, conceded nine to Malmo’s one).

Helsingborgs have lost only three league games, fewer than anyone else.  Four draws from nine home games appears to have cost them most ground in the title race.

Celtic can expect to face a tight defence who are well versed at shutting teams out in the second leg in Glasgow where they will need the creative talents of Kris Commons with perhaps Paddy McCourt p[laying a role.  A big European-night atmosphere at Celtic Park will be invaluable.

The building thats replacing the School looks a bit bland much like the superstore, like an industrial unit, hope thats not the finalised design.

Should be a stone clad building rather than a cheap metal clad thing.

I’m spending entirely too much time on message boards and blogs. I was watching a replay of Rudisha’s victory this morning and saw him trotting past a matrix sign saying “New World Record. BOOM!” It was only second look that I spotted it was in fact “New World Record 800m.” I need to get out more. I’m missing the home leg of the Helsingborg game. Not happy.

I thought the school was listed, would prefer that facade was retained and the insides re-done and expanded. That school’s got the makings of a great pre game bar and museum, the industrial unit look cheapens what should be an entrance worthy of the front door of Celtic.

I think we should get Frank Gehry in and on the job, him Paddy McCourt, Gaudi or somebody clever like that, Peter Lawwell really should get the finger ooot….

  6. Good draw for Celtic. Real chance of CL football again, which would be a tremendous boost to the players and whole club.

I see Chuckie Green is claiming that he was in fact speaking French when he (implicitly) called Celtic bigots last week.

It just took a couple of hours and the the flight from prestwock to gothenburg save airport were 1p each way. I’ve not checked ryanair this time.

Was out most of the afternoon but from a quick look at the comments on here re London Rd school, I think regardless of what Celtic FC do, they’ll be uneasy to please those who don’t like to be pleased.

    ……………………………………………………………………………………………

And no doubt they will easily please all those who liked to be pleased.

Meanwhile those of independent mind will look at the plans and draw conclusion from those plans. I spent a bit of time looking at them. If you like metal sheds then this will fill you with pride. If you prefer something more iconic with some Celtic reflection then you will be disappointed.

Let me know what you actually think once you’ve had a peek.

  15. Must be new world, record for a new owner, of a new club to have been charged with bringing the game into disrepute.

    much more serious offence.

  16. Reflecting on the SFA’s decision to summon Ally McCoist for his threatening outburst, I am infuriated. Delayed onset of emotion is how wise professionals refer to it. I don’t know why I feel angry now because I wasn’t raging when he made his comments in April, I just thought he was sneaky and stupid.

What follows is basic information, long since in the public domain, discussed to death. Three months down the line, I have only just realised how serious, rehaearsed and dangerous McCoists comments were. Shame on me.

McCoist aggressively demanded the membership of a judicial panel be made public, asserting that they were involved in killing what is now Old Rangers.

Staggeringly, absolutely staggeringly, when McCoist made these comments, he already knew the identity of the panel. That fact alone is truly incredible.

The members of the panel were, as a direct consequence of McCoists comments, subject to all manner of threats, moved to safe houses. Raith Rovers FC had a police presence 24/7 at their ground due to warnings that it would be razed to the ground owing to their chairmans involvement in the panel.

Why is the gravity of this matter only dawning on me now?

    No idea. Shame on me.

McCoists cowardly utterances that day, when in full possession of the membership of the panel and knowing full well his influence on the rank and file Rangers support, were truly abhorrent and throughly disgraceful. They jeapordised mens safety and the well being of their families.

No vilification or demonisation as with NFL minor misdemeanours. In fact McCoists stock is at an all time high with the MSM, a true Scottish hero. Except we know he is a coward and deep down so does he.

Latent, dormant anger has fuelled this post and apologies to CQN’rs who have written about this for months. Ally McCoist wilfully endangered the safety of other men, demanding information he was already privvy to, appealing to the lowest common denominator in the process.

I have no faith in the SFA to throw the book at him, but in the interests of natural justice he should be subject to the heaviest sanctions available to them.

I know of Aiden McGehry, Frank’s boy, the Chinese winger, is that who you suggest for this job? He is great at conceptual plans but a lot of folk say he doesnt produce the working drawings. Personally I think hes the ideal man for the job but gets a bad reputation.

We cannot afford to have our players sent off because of the theatrics of Ronaldo,Ozil & co.,and thereby suffer suspension in the SPL…

While it’s useful to rotate personnel,we need a settled formation with the CL playoff soon upon us…

Surely we have to play in the Hoops agin Real ? It would be unbelievable if they wore the stupid black number under the baking sun…!

And another thing…Young Tony Watt called up to play in a nonsense U21 Scotland friendly on Tuesday,so presumably will not travel to US ?

Bad move…especially after sending him home before the Ajax debacle…

I see the game on ITV4 tomorrow is preceded by the movie ‘Spartacus’…and followed later by ‘Rocky II’ and ‘Child’s Play3’….Why can’t we have one of those old classics, where buccaneering Errol Flynn lays waste to the Spanish Maine ?

Genuinely not perturbed what happens to the old school. Normally quite a sentimental fool and I can see the value in maintaining and developing it especially as a Celtic museum or bar/cafe type venture.

However, I wouldn’t be upset if it was knocked down and either replaced or used for parking.

  25. HT @ 19.44,

Don’t know how good Green’s history is: “bigotry” does have a French origin, but it’s from the proper name Bigot. M. Bigot was Napoleon’s minister of Religion & Cults, so it does have quite a bit to do with religion. ” Bigotaire” is just the French adjective derived from Bigot’s name.

Good point and I get that. He has limited critical thinking, a lack of fore sight and is a very poor manager to boot. No one better to be in charge of them. However his comments were so wrong and devious, they overide the unintended consequences of his stupidity which you rightly point out.

I can’t believe the guy. And he, like Green will vigorously defend his comments. Shameless. McCoist has more faces than the town hall clock.

    TJ

  28. Green said bigot comes from the French word ‘bigotaire’. I studied French at uni but can someone point me in the direction of a definition of this word in French as I am unfamiliar with it. If, instead, he means and has mispronounced ‘bigoterie’, then the original middle-French working entymology links this with ‘religious intolerance’. Green may be correct with the link to intolerance of another’s opinion but it’s pretty clear he knows his audience. I think he’d have been ‘immersed in the tradtions of the institution’ or, he’s been ‘telt’.

I read somewhere today that the architect has taken into account the the design of the Velodrome/Indoor Arena. They want the facades of the buildings to look similar, so the s/store blends in.
