CELTIC midfielder Scott Robertson is heading for Gillingham on a season-loan loan deal.
The talented 19-year-old made his Hoops debut in the Europa League match against Cluj in Romania in December when Neil Lennon’s men lost 2-0 although they were already guaranteed to complete Group E as winners.
Robertson earned praise from the manager after a steady and assured performance as anchorman in the middle of the park.
He is standing by to make his first appearance for the Gills in Saturday’s League One season-opener against Hull City.
The English team’s gaffer Steve Evans, speaking on the club website, said: “I’m very grateful to my friend Neil Lennon for believing we are the right place for Scott to continue his development.”
Twenty-year-old striker Jack Aitchison may join him in England with Barnsley keen to take him on a permanent contract. He played last season for Forest Green where he scored six goals.
