Ignore vulnerable Milan nonsense

742

The stats tell an enticing story, Milan have played thirteen competitive games since beating Celtic and won only two, but you can forget about them right now.  Celtic are good enough to take three points tomorrow but it will require a perfect match plan if they are to do so.

This fixture will hold no fears for Celtic, who have been over similar ground many times before, but they face players vastly more experienced at playing the intensity of football which will be on display tomorrow evening.  If we are to get anything from the game, we will have to subvert a team who will enjoy the majority of possession and territorial advantage, with impeccable defending and expert finishing.

We got it spectacularly wrong against Italian opposition last season, who were considerably weaker than the Spanish opponents who left Celtic Park empty handed, overwhelmingly as a consequence of diverging from the game plan which left Barcelona scrambling for a consolation goal. This is football at a remarkably unforgiving level, as Juventus let us know; you’re not in the SPFL now, Dorothy.

Did you get to speak to the CQN Girls handing out Annuals at the Superstore on Saturday?  We’ve got budget to bring them along for one last time ahead of the Milan game tomorrow.  See the video below for a glimpse of what we were up to on Saturday and thanks to everyone who has bought an Annual!

Yip, SFA are adept at repeating what they’ve already said, which is damned little at all.

The SFA member at the relevant time – pre July 2012 – was RFC plc, the incorporated entity of the members club founded in 1872.

There is a new member – Sevco Scotland Ltd, now called TRFC Ltd – to whom RFC plc’s membership was ‘transferred’.

But let’s not allow the facts to get in the way of disingenuous obfuscation, eh.

  3. After Mackay-Stevens scored Utd third goal on Saturday he jumped over the hoardings to celebrate with his own fans. There was no booking.

The ref in charge was Collum, the same guy who consistently books Celtic players for doing far less after scoring.

Someone at Celtic should show the the footage to the SFA and ask questions.

  7. The Battered Bunnet @ 18:34,

Thanks for your views, we went through this in some detail over the weekend so there’s no point running over it again – though the T&C’s imposed will be interesting.

Good to see your comments on Ryan Gauld, I’m impressed with this lad, seems to me that he proves a small lad and a young lad, if good enough can make an impact on the Premier League.

“Celtic’s conclusion is that the boy is at the right team at the moment. Leave him where is and let him grow.

  8. Arbroath fans are unhappy (both of them) that they are missing a good telly nite due to their proud club falling so far that they are forced to play the b@stard offspring of rangers fc on a monday night. They plan to complain to the sfa in a mildly worded letter if they manage to find someone at the sfa who cares.

BT Sport CL deal will give us £7m extra a year. We MUST get into the group stage every season. Get new players in in the Jan window and give them time to settle.

    Bad news ?

    Of course, according to T.English.

It will mean that Celtic will become richer and the rest will fall further behind.

Of course, but we all have blind spots,or preferences, which when in Management, you have to suppress for the greater good.

  13. GlassTwoThirdsFull @ 18:40,

Well exactly, it doesn’t advance the discussion although to be fair he did address and answer the question I put to him.

Quite a few posters have told me over this last year the membership can’t be transferred, membership dies with the Club and there was no Member Certificate as such.

Stewart Regan’s e-mail seems to suggest otherwise – for me it raises more questions than it answers…

    Why?

    And what were the Ts&Cs?

Though anything short of accepting punishment for all wrong doing and payment of all outstanding monies.

Still that doesn’t explain why they wouldn’t just deal with Oldco and seperately Issue NewCo with a new membership subject to Ts&Cs.

Ranger’s went into liqudation and forfieted their spl membership ,the owner of their membership went to club 12 ,who were Dundee who came up from the old first division.

This is where there is a break in there history ,because they never had ANY membership for any league’s in Scotland .they had no where to play ,because they were just a new club trying to get invited into Scottish football .

  24. The Honest Cover-up on

    the battered bunnet

No offence but I think that seems a rather arrogant and complacent attitude. We missed out on James McCarthy because we thought Ki was a better option ( a mistake in my opinion) and under Lennon we have signed very few players from SPL, Stokes and Mulgrew being the only starters I can think of. Instead we have signed rafts of foreign imports, some who have been great, others who have been poor.

I for one am concerned that we seem to be ignoring domestic talent in favour of punts on young cheap (and sometimes not so cheap) imports. Johnny Russell ignored in favour of Balde and Pukki is a case in point.

I’m not saying we should bid silly money for Gauld but the idea that we should have total faith in the scouts/manager to cherry pick the best domestic talents in their own time doesn’t wash with me. I don’t see evidence that we’ve done that effectively recently.
