The last two teams out of the pots for today’s Europa League draw left to former European Champions. Celtic will face Inter Milan, who they have met twice before in European competition. The teams faced in the European Cup Final in 1967, when Celtic won the tournament, and again in the European Cup Semi-final in 1972, when Inter progressed on penalties after two 0-0 draws.
It’s not the draw I would have handpicked but it’s a great draw from many perspectives. Inter will bring genuinely tier-one talent to Celtic Park, and provide Ronny Deila and the squad with an invaluable chance to test their progress.
The games will take place a few weeks before the 50th anniversary of Jock Stein becoming Celtic manager and set his team on the road to dismantling La Grande Inter. History is made of great stories and no sporting event in history has been so infused by story telling than the first meeting between these clubs.
If all these stories teach us anything it’s to fear no one. Bring it on.
Among many great features, we have an interview with Dixie Deans in the 2015 CQN Annual, see above, who among many things, discusses “that penalty”. Still time to order yours for Christmas.
You can also order the CQN Annual and DVD bundle here. It’s a great offer, check it out – oh, and there’s tons of photos, fresh stories and comment on the first time Inter faced the green and white hoops.

italiabhoy,
Are you having a laugh, the horse got away and an other few after the gate was bolted ffs :)
Regan facilitated a tax fraud ffs, acting CEO of a company that has deliberately breached corporate and inland revenue laws (history).
Then again, getting away with that, might just be the attraction in these ferrel capitalist times eh
weeminger,
Post of the year :oD))))))))))
Choppy indeed :oD)))
What a brilliant draw; I’ll bet PL is quaffing the champers tonight. The ticket prices look fair but I liked the suggestion I saw on twitter: £19.67 for season book holders HH

If Ashley chucks it the ole Airdrie or Cowdenbeath may be getting a horrible makeover.
Oldtim,
Was that 0967 :)
Weefra and oldtim return to cqn on the same day.
was in the superstore this afternoon, cqn annual facing you as you enter…..
SFA finally grown a pair ?
Ger67,

gordon_j backing neil lennon-the guy behind the Murderwell takeover, admitted he is a Sevco shareholder, how does that sit with the so called rules?
Jim Spence just said on Shortbread,McCoist might be owed 2 years money if he goes on gardening leave.:))

Ashley out. Admin. Liquidation. League restructuring. Here comes the PR juggernaut. Strap yerselves in. It’s going to get choppy.
And Wilson on shortbread is dying to drive the PR bus
blantyretim.
Booked a hotel room for the game immediately I knew who we were playing,Yes back to the Millenium. One more chance.
Canamalar,0967? is that an age thing,if it is, I’m not as old as that.
Just had a moral victory of sorts, I complained (as I’m sure others have) to the BBC about their report on the McCoist resignation where they stated Sevco had been demoted. The report has just been amended to read …
Rangers, who were founded in 1872, had never played outside the top division from the formation of the Scottish League in 1890 until they entered the Third Division in 2012.
The BBC failed to include the liquidation event or the new licence I mentioned in the complaint but they moved their position a little.
Dickie Wilson on Shortbread saying the SFA could find Ashley and Sevco guilty but then sanction an increase in his shareholding to avoid liquidation.
Whit?
Oldtim
went to Amore with Mrs BT for lunch as she was off work, she mentioned you as we parked the car close to The Blane Valley.
!!Bada Bing!!
That was some contact that McOist signed and didnae look at…
Question of Sport?
More a question of how much money can I squeeze into this suitcase before I head off to Mexico…
!!Bada Bing!!,
Don’t know anything about the guy at all – on the radio on Saturday he was referred to as a former shareholder … that was Radio Scotland though so no guarantees of accuracy at all.
So is it just Mike Cashley that is to be punished cos Sevco have been punished enough?

Well done, celebrate every victory
Scotland to play the north of Ireland next year. Here’s hoping that McPake & Paton will be getting the “turning their backs on the country they were born in ” barrage that Aiden had to face !
By the time the sfa hearing is conducted ashley will have finished his austerity measures and will withdraw his influence.
blantyretim.
Glad too know that I’m still in her mind,Give her a big xxx for me.

The guy admitted he still had a small shareholding but would get rid if it was an issue.
Bada bing – he said he’d give up RFC shares if hee had to. It was a financial not an emotional investment and he’d take a loss.
Spencie waxing lyrical about the Inter tie said he was orgasmic when he heard the draw…….Dick Wilson just fainted….:)
roy croppie
Wishful thinking on his part I reckon, Mike the Tim is not about to chuck untold millions soon a stank to stave off liquidation…
HH
RichWil(Richard shortie Wilson) as he’s known on twitter,is one of Sevcos biggest cheerleaders..
In a frightening big state move, his yrs of Sevco Herald propaganda got him a BBC job, where no doubt he is expected to continue his bias..
Shameful & Shameless

I’m quietly confident that PLs presence at the top tables of the SFA and the SPFL, backed up by Res 12, will bring about a sweeping change at these bodies.
Good to underline the fact that our CEO is a board member of the SFA plus the Scottish Professional Game Board and on the executive of the European Club Association.
He also stated, when asked from the floor, at the AGM, there would be no ‘dodgy dealings’ regarding any league reconstruction.
As I’ve said before, like him or not, he’s one of the best connected football executives in Europe and will be going nowhere anytime soon – DD will see to that.
Spence on shortie almost ‘orgasmic’ about draw.
The guy’s not scared to call it and puts his fellow journos to shame.
starry plough
wee Dickie is having a tough night as his new team is near collapse and Spencey is rubbing it in about our glamour tie:)

DL tipping Billy Davies for the job, a personal friend of his.
Sounds like WC might have been on the ball.
Good Evening Timland
Absolutely delighted with the draw,Inter are not the force
of old, but hey neither are we,hope the club have the good
sense to price the game correctly, if they do we’ll get a full
house.

kitalba……..Saw your post early hours regarding WH the bookie
being a black and tan.
I remember seeing a interview with legendary Irish trainer Vincent
O’Brien on the beeb,VOB was well know for his betting coups, after
he took the bookies for a right few quid at Royal Ascot he said WH
approached him,VOB said I was in the royal enclosure standing yards
from the Queen,WH told me,It would have payed me to have you shoot
year’s ago,VOB said he would have he was a black and tan you know.
Thanks for replies bhoys, i’m sure the SFA will be watching like a hawk……….aye right
Have a read at Phil’s new piece – very interesting
Hinting at the return of Quantum Man – ably fronted by SOOOOness in an all new, grass roots, other club buying, name changing challenger for the hearts and minds of the bally you know who…
Just as the SFA start pushing buttons – they’ve never (NEVER) been as proactive in the past 4 years – I wonder why?
We’ll be playing Milan, whilst they’re flushed doon the pan
Ra Bomber on Shortbread….talkin pure pash again
Liquidation is a route out of Administration………….Neil Doncaster.

I’m quietly confident that PLs presence at the top tables of the SFA and the SPFL, backed up by Res 12, will bring about a sweeping change at these bodies. Ogilvie, Regan and Doncaster are dead in the water IMO. Most of the bods immediately below them will want to keep their jobs.

Don’t you believe it . And Ashley will take them on , no doubt about that . I know nothing of Ashley , but anyone who gets involved with them is a no user as far as I’m concerned . Amazing how they attract that kind .
