Inter will know they’ve been in a game

865

Someone asked me a few weeks ago if this was a must-win game.  Clearly it’s not, the cup games are must-win, as is the coming league game against Aberdeen, but tomorrow night is an important weathervane, indicating if the club is on the road to recovery.

Since that great high against Barcelona, we have faced Italian opposition twice, both in 2013, losing home games 0-3 to Juventus and Milan.  You can trace the decline in European performances through a subsequent Champions League group stage which concluded with five defeats, and last summer’s abject qualification campaign.

Indications are we are a better team now than we were in August, or even when qualifying from our Europa League group, but there is still an almighty task ahead tomorrow night.  I suspect none of this recent history will affect Ronny and his players.  The manager has told the players they can win.  Most of them are playing like they have a point to prove, all of them are looking forward to the challenge.

Inter will know they’ve been in a game.

Us to them ……Any west ham fans I met preferred us……any Arsenal fans I met preferred us…..any Fulham fans I met preferred us …any palace fans I met preferred us………The only fans I met who preferred them were some Chelsea ….not many and most spurs !!!……which I put down to the Arsenal Celtic thing at the time !!

Can’t see it but this is the team I’d like for tomorrow. Would actually prefer an extra defensive midfielder (perhaps even moving VVD or JD in there). Pointless changing the system though as RD is rigid to 4-2-3-1 so……….

With regard to your defence of Pat Nevin, for the avoidance of doubt and not to put too fine a point on it, in the immortal words of Big Nan, Nevin is “a ferret-faced f@@ker”.

Tell your boy he’ll have no problems in Newry, the birth place of Willie Maley! It’s a big Celtic supporting town. He might want to try the Canal Court Hotel or the Quayside Inn. For cheap pints he could try the Catholic Working Men’s club on Hill Street, opposite the Cathedral. Newry is a Zombie free zone!

    Hail, hail!

  11. Evening , looking forward to another big night at Paradise, will be a big test Italian teams seen to have our number recently, but you never know.

A special night for the 2 new Bhoys but am happy with them playing in front of stokes and commons who are both good spl players but struggle in Europe (IMHO)

We have a young team who are learning so hoping for signs this group can make progress in Europe next season.

Got an early finish so hoping to have a beer in town before the game sample the atmosphere

I hope the punters have a great night tomorrow and we see a brave performance. That our professionals enjoy it and realise what playing for and at Celtic park can bring to your life and work towards these European nights. Make no mistake around the world this is what defines us. Not chucking bottles at weans.

A brave performance that enhances the whole show technically. I want to be talking football tomorrow night not the usual platitudes. It will prove we are moving in the right direction.

I obviously hope we win.we need to be highly disciplined especially our full backs in defence.we need to be strong at the back.i feel this will be a big test for our defence.

We cant do nothing without the ball so good slick passing and cut out those wayward passes as inter have the players to hurt us.I would have an extra midfielder so helping defence or assisting attack.

Griff to start but I hope JG gets on as I think he could do the lone striker role too.

So looking forward to the game. Our football,The Celtic way was defined in Lisbon against Inter.i hope tomorrow our players go out and make themselves heroes.i am sure they will do their best.as a Celtic fan thats all I ask
