Inter will know they’ve been in a game

865

Someone asked me a few weeks ago if this was a must-win game.  Clearly it’s not, the cup games are must-win, as is the coming league game against Aberdeen, but tomorrow night is an important weathervane, indicating if the club is on the road to recovery.

Since that great high against Barcelona, we have faced Italian opposition twice, both in 2013, losing home games 0-3 to Juventus and Milan.  You can trace the decline in European performances through a subsequent Champions League group stage which concluded with five defeats, and last summer’s abject qualification campaign.

Indications are we are a better team now than we were in August, or even when qualifying from our Europa League group, but there is still an almighty task ahead tomorrow night.  I suspect none of this recent history will affect Ronny and his players.  The manager has told the players they can win.  Most of them are playing like they have a point to prove, all of them are looking forward to the challenge.

Inter will know they’ve been in a game.

Pat Nevin is a wee ignorant jobby who has sold his soul for beelzebubs filthy lucre. Neil McCann and the disgrace of Clydebank, nae pals Keevins in the same boat.

I salute your indefatigability in pursuing Nevin over his comments. I’m not surprised you didn’t get any satisfaction other than the cathartic effect of getting it off your chest and letting the powers that Beeb know what Celtic supporters (rhetorical apart, apparently) think of him. He gives me the creeps in a Uriah Heep sort of way.

As for the anecdote in the book, I’m glad Nevin has escaped our tribe. I hope someone bolted the door when he slinked off to happy Hibbyland so that he can’t get back in.

Big nan, i may be wrong but i’m sure nevin said prior to the pira comments that he gave up on celtic as the club was just another corporate entity and not the club he grew up supporting.

Not the view years ago did an article about nevin, when he was at chelsea, refusing to applaud , after the game, the sticky bun fans who verbally abused him when both clubs played a friendly at stamford bridge in the mid eighties.

  9. Pat Nevin ?

Says he brought his kids up as Hibs fans because of so-called bigotry, Pat N was a CeltIc fan growing up, then played for Chelsea…… I would love wee Patrick to explain what bigotry changed his ethos, I have never once heard Nevin challenge any other bigotry other than too insuciate the club that is very much open to all….

Apart from his “off the ball” rantings, we might be giving him too much airtime

Hope wee Pat enjoys the fitba at Parkhead tomorrow night, I know there are a few people on here young & old looking forward to it

I posted last weekend anything Inter 0, would do but stuff that, 2-0 would make the Lions happy even though it was better than that mob done in 67 (tongue placed firmly in cheek)

Won’t be in town myself, but some posters meeting in The Blane Valley, I believe, though I think they’ll be going to the game, not watching in the pub.

However, you might meet others there in the same boat as yourself re being ticketless who want to watch with other Tims.

Hope you enjoy it wherever you end up.

    Hail Hail.

  13. the more I think about it the less I can figure out tomorrow’s formation

    – is there enough umph in gms,Armstrong, broon and sj ?

    – will there be protection for vvd and denayer ?

    – could ronny go for the KC model – pack the midfield and hope KC does something special

    – wil he trust the new feel team enough to believe they can hunt a savvy Italian down in packs ?

    – just have to wait and see.

  14. What a next few days to look forward to.

He certainly seems to contradict himself on what was the defining moment of his fall-out with Celtic.

I think his evidence to the Justice Committee for the OB Bill was different from the book and elsewhere.
