Inter will know they’ve been in a game

865

Someone asked me a few weeks ago if this was a must-win game.  Clearly it’s not, the cup games are must-win, as is the coming league game against Aberdeen, but tomorrow night is an important weathervane, indicating if the club is on the road to recovery.

Since that great high against Barcelona, we have faced Italian opposition twice, both in 2013, losing home games 0-3 to Juventus and Milan.  You can trace the decline in European performances through a subsequent Champions League group stage which concluded with five defeats, and last summer’s abject qualification campaign.

Indications are we are a better team now than we were in August, or even when qualifying from our Europa League group, but there is still an almighty task ahead tomorrow night.  I suspect none of this recent history will affect Ronny and his players.  The manager has told the players they can win.  Most of them are playing like they have a point to prove, all of them are looking forward to the challenge.

Inter will know they’ve been in a game.

sftb, what about Doc Holiday? A quadruple connection there to oor Doc. He’s a cowboy, a doctor, he like Mrs McCready’s surgical bruise lotion with ice and lemon, and baith were baldy. Please add to your list.

I’ve not had a chance to get on the blog due to work getting in the way. Just want to say a big thank you to the Bhoy’s who made last weekend special. 16 Roads, Gearoid, Ard Macha, Lovejoylegend (yer under the thumb pal, who I still owe a dram), Boylo (whippersnatcher and general nut job), yer big minder, and Alan from Dublin. A joy to meet you all and spend time downing gallons of the black stuff in your company. I had a great time and cant wait to visit your city again.

Macanbheatha, our paths never crossed this time but I’m sure they will and I hope they do.

Apologies if I missed any of our Emarald Isle princes.

I know you’re not having a dig. We had specific information – very specific information.

We wanted to question Nevin on that and I wanted to call his bluff re stating he could explain himself blah blah blah…

We certainly could have nailed him more in the feature – but BRTH is such a nice guy and he wrote the long feature. There was much debate about what actually appeared too.

But the reason was to get to the guy who did the whispering. He knows we know. He knows…

Thanks very much for that, but as macanbheatha said, I hope they all make it now to the game after the scare, and the effort of the journey they’re making, and that your family have a great night together, preferably with a victory!

Apologies WC, I am the wee guy that turns up late, if I haven’t posted I try to read back but sometimes when there is a lot of politics I skim through, as per usual I just pick up the end of the conversation, hopefully I only put my pennies worth in about Mr Nevin, but in all my days I have never heard him utter a good word about our club, and actually quite likes likes a sly gig at CeltIc when he can, if that gets him his BBC pay well good enough for him !

  10. Again Thanks for the understanding Bhoys :-)

    Hail Hail and Nytol

I see that ACGR is aboot, so time to head off oot :-) bad influence, or is that Dena29 ?

If the other ticket with f.a.b doesn’t work out, I know your son is first in line for any ticket Cowiebhoy might have spare.

I think I might have misread his post and thought he had one for your son, and one other next to it, so jumped right in there.

I wasn’t expecting to be going, so it’s all good anyway.

    Hail Hail!

  12. Cannot believe that some posters want Efe in the team. I really like the big guy but his unforced mistakes have cost us in the past in Europe and they would do so again. He never learns from them (even within the same game).

Can only hope that Adam can start producing his pre Lasley assault form again…Lustig is a big loss for this game.

Glad to see you go back safely. I got home about 10 o’clock sunday night, had to be in Aberdeen at 07.00 Monday and headed off doon saff at 05.00 on Tuesday. Got back about nine tonight and the word knackered is now a good friend of mine.

Looking forward to a nice relaxing evening at Celtic Park tomorrow:_)

  14. Re Bombay Street. People were there from the Clonard and “Pool” areas chiefly, with a fair smattering from Beechmount/Lower Falls. Cupar Street had been burned the night before. Father McLaughlin blessed us as we passed Clonard chapel. He was the leader of the Confraternity, which Clonard hosted Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Catching up on my recorded stuff and just watched the Aberdeen game. Dear god, how badly officiated was that game? The Goodwillie offside goal was about as bad a decision as I’ve seen since Celtic……………………………………

Our officials are about as crap as John Noakes’s posts.

To those travelling from further afield, the CSC on London Road is child friendly tomorrow if those who have kids with them are looking for somewhere to go for an hour or 2 before the game. It also serves food.

I have never voted for the Tartan Tory SNP in my life. I will in this election since they are less to the right than the rest of the mainstream parties.
