Someone asked me a few weeks ago if this was a must-win game. Clearly it’s not, the cup games are must-win, as is the coming league game against Aberdeen, but tomorrow night is an important weathervane, indicating if the club is on the road to recovery.
Since that great high against Barcelona, we have faced Italian opposition twice, both in 2013, losing home games 0-3 to Juventus and Milan. You can trace the decline in European performances through a subsequent Champions League group stage which concluded with five defeats, and last summer’s abject qualification campaign.
Indications are we are a better team now than we were in August, or even when qualifying from our Europa League group, but there is still an almighty task ahead tomorrow night. I suspect none of this recent history will affect Ronny and his players. The manager has told the players they can win. Most of them are playing like they have a point to prove, all of them are looking forward to the challenge.
Inter will know they’ve been in a game.

1-0 header Ronaldo.
It’s cerise pink, I’m reliably informed, the madrilenyos’ strip.
GMS & Armstrong will give our full backs (who are the weak link) more protection than Forrest or Stokes or McGregor would.
Although I’ve watched us develop under RD and more than pleased, the streetwise Italians will know we’re left wide open with our attacking formation…especially our wing- backs.
We have seem to have sorted it, but Inter is a different proposition from the spfl.
I’m no tactician like a lot on here and at times, I’m amazed by their detail.
That is my biggest concern…the sucker punch or punches.
Still, I’ll go for 3-2 for the hoops tomorro.

Lucky Bhoy, there is another Celtic friendly bar “Timmy’s” inTorreblanca just down from the train station. Big Clive in “The Rovers” also Celtic minded. Lost count of my visits there now

Nevin, grown beyond the tribe? Nonsense.
He’s created this brand for himself as the go-to-man for any aspect of football that spills out of the sports pages, based on his perceived working-class Glasgow NME-reading tribal background.
He’s milking it whilst pretending to be abhorred by it. And he says an awful lot while saying absolutely nothing.
Don’t fancy the Real Madrid away strip at all, although it seems to work for them! Just don’t think it would go down well at CQN 5s.
I think I will stick with Raith away strip funded by a Celtic/ Raith double this week :-)

When Efe came on at Perth , having not figured for a while, that’s what started me thinking he might play tomorrow .
A few have mentioned the Salzburg game today , can’t remember the starting eleven that night but it will be interesting to see how many changes there are.
leftclicktic-i was surprised how well GMS covered back in his games so far.I agree with G67,him and SA will cover back better than some others. The overall teamwork has been our best feature in recent months,we will need that from everyone.HH
Dallas Dallas
The Chelsea fans I know are all from London and are not racists or fans of the Glasgow Undead. The Home Counties M25 Loyal are a different matter

Re Nevin, was it not the cup final v Murderwell those comments were made at half time?

Ffs, my bhoy just in from training, telling me he’s playing a friendly against a women’s team at six on Saturday.
Oh to be young again :)
It’s good to hear that GMS has been doing a lot of covering back. Only caught highlights of the two games.
I think GMS and SA, if playing, will give us the legs and help sustain the team to keep a high tempo but the passing by all must be sharp if we have any chance to win the game.
Starting 11 vSalzburg at CP
26 Gordon
02 Matthews
04 Ambrose
05 van Dijk
03 Izaguirre
21 Mulgrew
08 Brown
42 McGregor
25 Johansen
10 Stokes
28 Griffiths
Probably 4 changes tomorrow, Denayer for Ambrose, Bitton for Mulgrew, GMS for McGregor and Armstrong for Stokes
We will need to be very disciplined tomorrow night with regard to giving away free kicks or giving the opposition an invitation to claim fouls.
Our retention & distribution of the ball will have to be a lot better than it has been in some european games we have played in.
A good attitude, disciplined and with good luck thrown in will help us get a result.
I may be getting paranoid about my paranoia but since Dallas has been involved with Uefa, apart from getting the penalty against Spartak, some performances & decisions made by the officials we have had could been better.
borgo67-got a feeling if GMS hits the ground running when we play at home, he could light the whole place up,fingers crossed

who will be first to ask ………….?

O G Rafferty, some Ammers fans who live in Essex, I’ve been told, have a similar mentality to the Home Counties Chelsea fans.
“They could have scored at will at CP, relenting at 3-0 only because they didn’t need any more.”
Sandman,

Right any auld yins needing a concession ticket for tomorrow night, south stand.
JB
No one seems to want that ticket, if it helps, I have a ticket for Lisbon Lions (sec 116) and would be happy to change with a young upstart who is looking for a ticket (LOL) if it helps. Arriving Queen St at around 14:15 tomorrow.
Any news on Kris Commons been fit for tomorrow?

How’s the calf?

It isn’t Adam’s runs forward that worry me or why I think he got moved for Efe. I think he times his runs forwards well and doesn’t over commit.
It is his positional and decision making aspects when he is back and defending that worry me and I think it worries the manager as well.
I have no problem with him starting but he has to be super alert in thus game
Beatbhoy @ 20:26,
You are of course quite right – it was Motherwell.
Thanks.
Anybody would think I’m obsessed:-)

Oooofftt, doesn’t miss and hit the wall. Thought-provoking as ever. I find it very difficult to sympathise with him. Wonder how he passes the mirror test every morning.

I gave up after the goal, watching mid-summers instead…..
I hope Scott doesn’t get booked but I’m sure he will be targetted by players falling over or winding him up to try to get him booked or worse.
Inter will have looked at Scott in previous european games & will work on him in their own way.
I’m praying if Inter do the Rubentus treatment of our players in their box at free kicks and corners, the ref will stamp down on it.
CRC,
Judging by the language being used, I don’t think he’s making it.

Watching Basel v Porto, good to see Porto haven’t changed over the years:))

Not heard about Kris. I really doubt Ronny would play anyone less than 100% fit.
I fancy Efe at right back tomorrow.
The ref tomorrow night is HUNgarian.
