Buckie is a long way from Glasgow in every sense. It is part of the Westminster constituency of Moray, which has Douglas Ross as its MP (he draws a salary from both UK and Scottish parliaments, as well as the SFA). It’s a farmin’, fishin’ and perhaps foulin’ (apols. P Lynott) community which has planned a day out in the big city to see Buckie Thistle take on Celtic in the Scottish Cup.
Thistle wear green and white hoops, a tradition apparently established when Celtic donated a set of strips last century. Celtic were their opponents of choice to celebrate their centenary and travelled north four decades ago to play a church fundraiser. The Grotto needs help too, you know, Celtic!
They currently sit fifth in the Highland League, but a Scottish Cup tie at Celtic Park is the equivalent of Champions League qualification; more money will pour into the Buckie coffers than has ever been seen in the Lanarkshire equivalent.
Their claims to fame might stop there were it not for Stephen King, one of the top selling fiction authors in history, referencing the club in a recent novel, then posing for this photo in team top and scarf. King knew nothing about the club but chose it because of “it’s gorgeous name”. Club brand mangers everywhere take note, Lanliq United is still available.
If Celtic don’t progress into the next round of the Cup on Sunday evening, even an intoxicant like Lanny will not be enough to soften the blow. Safe journey to the estimated 5,000 on pilgrimage to Celtic Park.

Right up to Covid my wee yin wasn’t interested in football at all … stuck in the house with me and actually losing the “fabled 10” caught her attention … when Brendan bolted she picked up on that as well, when Brendan came back she called me out .. fair play to her … but my retort “we are all human we all make mistakes” … what sticks in my mind … when Celtic were picking up trophy after trophy she wasn’t that interested … again maybe Covid related (stuck in with me) she became “obsessed” :.. now on Celtic Twitter daily and informs me of the starting line up even before BognorBhoy … but them also tells me what Luis Palma is having for his dinner 🍀 canny complain I opened the door for the madness … and I love energy Celtic minute of it

Best to wait until end of transfer window before saying what has and has not been done. Before window opened I wanted a right winger, leftback and a box to box mid. A gk will be needed at end of season.
We have added a right winger.
The return of hatate and the emergence of Bernardo in the middle of the park might just negate the need for another centremidfielder. We also have mcgregor, o’reilly, iwata and Holme.
Upgraded at Leftback is still needed but if it is not a clear upgrade on taylor don’t bother just gave anderson or/ and frame game time. Same goes for the forward area, just use oh and meada, never a winger, as required.
Ps champions league money for league victory is being overcooked as usual and folk are neglecting to take into account that the europa league will also offer greater financial rewards, its not a big game changer.
The biggest game changer will be if celtic decide to take the money in the bank, champions league participation and player sales to up the quality of the 1st team squad.

Sadly … I took great enjoyment when Pedro scored for Lazio after we played so well earlier this season … I told her … it’s Celtic we don’t get victories in Europe, I went to Madrid, Juventus and I think Real Sociedad circa 1980 … her devastation actually made me so happy .. in my opinion that’s what makes us 🍀🍀🍀 winning trophies is just winning a trophy … Celtic is our cause 😂 🍀🍀

The Ekeren game was a great night. First time I ever saw the St Pauli fans backing Celtic. The giant cake and free beer in the stadium for 20 mins or so. Mike Galloway (RIP) injury was the only downside.

My old man went to San Sebastián with some friends and only 2 of 6 of them got into their tight wee stadium. Both in the home end. It was 2 weeks after we had won in Amsterdam. Not many fans could afford another trip so quickly. Also we were not allocated many tickets. It was a huge thing for them to be in the European cup that season. We should have beaten them though.
