  1. Not undeserved win for Inverness.

Celtic played a slow tempo, hardly ever looked dangerous. A lot of fringe players did their chances no good. A few experienced professionals with an atrocious first touch.

    We need a second left-back.

I’m still glad Ronny played the second string. Tuesday is what matters.

  2. Got what we deserve. Total disrespect to fans who travel up to the game, the opposition and the competition.

Oh, and congratulations to Caley. They played well and are alway tough opponents.

Nae luck Celtic, need to persist with this to give the youngsters any real chance of growing into the first team.

Looked the better team in the first half and could have scored a few, if one had went in it would have given the BHOYS a boost and confidence to kick on.

    So it happened.

We lost. We will still win this league.

Guaranteed better performance and hopefully progression in the CL awaits.

Well done Ronny. Total slap in the face to the Celtic support.

Absolutely no need to field a second string today. He has disrespected the league and ICT.

    Poor poor management.

    ——-

C’mon Tom. We are forever looking for fringe players to be given their chance.

It’s still early in season and we have infinitely more important match on Tuesday.

RD now knows what he (doesn’t) have.

  7. South Of Tunis on

    Dire game .

Both teams were very poor .

Appropriate that the winning / losing goal was a Jesus wept og..

Off oot ————– beach / sea time

  8. Fully agree with RD’s decision to rest so many players ahead of Tuesday, what it does show though is that we have a large squad which has a lot of deadwood that really needs to go. A squad of our size should have players who are pushing the first team for their places. Whilst I appreciate that it is difficult for so many players who have not got much if any game time together to gel in one game, the lack of ability at times was very evident.

    Roll on Tuesday

  9. Ronny will have learned about a few players today.

Certain players IMHO seem to have blown their chances not only for Tues but long term.

Feel for the fans who travelled up.

We will recover from this blip

  10. GG…. spot on there fella, eye on THE prize…. we have 38 league games and if we win through on Tues then this is a defeat I will (not happily) accept. We’ll still win the league and at least Ronny won’t become obsessed with chasing records now…. and we are 3 games in and some of the young lads have seen more action than they did all last season when EVERYONE was shouting to give them game time….

  11. Think the season Lenny got to CL last 16 we lost 8 league games. I’ll settle for that here and now.

  12. Tom McLaughlin – with respect buddy, that is nonsense. I’m sure it’s not the last spoken here, so off until Tuesday

Hail Hail All. Onwards and Upwards

  13. the glorious balance sheet on

It was the right decision to rest players with Tuesday in mind.

What isn`t right is the failure to replace Zaluska – a deputy who always proves he can`t be relied upon – and the long standing failure to provide cover at left back or any kind of quality up front.

Our attacking options today made assorted journeymen from Kendal Town, Fleetwood, Morecambe etc journeymen look like expert practitioners of the catenaccio.

I hope today serves as a wake up call in advance of Tuesday. We have better quality players to come back in defence on Tuesday, but scarily, Berget aside we will be going into Tuesday`s CL showdown with the “attacking” options that finished today`s game.

  14. No real point in commenting on today`s team. probably worth highlighting the desire of the Scottish Media to malign Celtic. ” I wonder if Ronny Delia will now be regretting making these changes.” was the order of the day. I am assuming the people making that comment are not entirely stupid so can only guess it is because they want to say something bad about Celtic. Hurting Huns.

Also, anyone who comes on here and talks about how awful we were is sadly lacking in emotional control. Today`s game was interesting and, perhaps, revealing but Tuesday`s game is very, very big.

  15. We all knew RD was going to rest players today.

So no disrespect to fans or ICT.

AS and Stefan’s intro didn’t really change much

  16. Shouldn’t have made 10 changes

McGeough and Twardzik can leave, really poor players

The rest I feel bad games but ultimately can stay

Not convinced though by O’Connell and not just because of the OG

  17. Anybody slagging off Ronny for today’s line up simply doesn’t understand the importance of Tuesday night to Celtic. Tuesday will define not only this season, but the budget for next season.

Every day is a schoolday with RD. Lesson learned today was most of our second string are not of the standard required. I’m sure this point will be made to PL.

    Well done Caley.

    Roll on Tuesday.

  18. Captain Beefheart on

Couldn’t give a dam about respecting the league or ICT.

I care about Tuesday. Ronny still reigns.

  19. OK – Armageddon is it?

Probably not when proper perspective applied?

For those who could see the game, did we learn anything more about our fringe players?

    HH

  20. The gamble of playing more or less a second choice team didn’t pay off.

Obviously RD’s mind is on Tuesday and wanted to see what some of the players on the periphery of the first team had to offer…not a lot from that inept performance.

As Tom Mc said…I feel for the fans that made the trip.

  21. dr ramesh and the love potion on

All this talk of disrespecting the fans is nonsense. If people went up there expecting the complete 1st team before such an important game on Tuesday they need to learn to understand modern football.

  22. macjay1 for Neil Lennon on

Why should we respect Scottish footballing institutions?

What respect have they ever shown us?

    Great idea.

    Lousy result.

  23. Don’t think the problem was all the changes. Playing players out of position does nothing for their confidence. Forcing players to play wide (Puckie, Griffiths, Johannson) when they want to play central – playing a 4-3-3 when you have no natural wide players – square pegs in round holes.

  24. RD should be clear by now, on who he is offloading.

IMO, Pukki, Derk, Dylan, LG,KC?, Zaluska?,Amido,Rogic….

    Do it now.

  25. Frank Ryan's Whiskey on

The most disappointing thing about todays’ game was the proof that despite having a huge 1st team squad we have absolutely no plan B. But eyes on the prize bhoys. Entry into the CL proper and piling on the agony for the hurtin’ huns.

    Role on Tuesday COYBIG

  26. iPaddy McCourt on

A really disjointed performance, which is always a risk when you make 10 changes to the starting line-up. Ronny will have learned a few things about the fringe players. With the likes of Brown, Tonev, Wakaso and an as yet unsigned striker likely to be available soon, I’d be willing to bet that there were at least a couple out there today who won’t feature again because they’re simply not good enough to play for Celtic.

As many have said, it’s all about Tuesday and the manager will have a strong team available after resting the key men. Today will soon be forgotten

  27. Like everyone here, I hate to see Celtic lose any game. However we will win the League pulling up. Going a couple of points behind will just prolong interest in the season, there is no harm whatever done. The important game is next Tuesday, win that and all will be well.

However there are lessons to be learned from today. This season’s Kris only bears a passing resemblence to last season’s one. Leigh looks like a lad who knows he has no future at the Club and Pukki is also running out of chances. Dylan looks like another who won’t make it. Twardzik is definitely not an option as a back up left back. We need a left back and a couple of reliable forwards. Balde, Pukki, Leigh,Dylan & Derk look like they have no future at Celtic.

    The green man

Im sure Deila would if he could

We really did sign some crap in pursuit of this moneyball business

  29. Even if there are a lot of changes, causing a team to lack fluency and look a bit disjointed, individually, players as part of a sqad hoping to play in the CL group stages, should be capable of controlling the ball, passing accurately, and tackling properly, at the very least.

  30. the glorious balance sheet on

    Tom McLaughlin-

I don`t think that it was at all disrespectful from Ronny to field that team. He is still getting to know the players capabilities and limitations and was entitled to expect more from them.

For instance he`d have deemed Zaluska a safe bet for cover for today on the basis that the guy has been at the club for 6 years so must have some quality otherwise why is he still here after all that time?

  31. I still think we’re in with an outside chance of winning the league so perhaps today’s defeat might not be the catastrophe for us that Radio Shortbread thinks it is.

And we should be able to get past Maribor.

    So we’re on track.

The CL itself is going to be a step too far though.
