IT troubles and Celtic v Hibernian Live updates

395

Like many of you, I struggled to get logged on with my Pass to Paradise for the Ross County game yesterday.  On the one hand, I was frustrated, but on the other, I had a bit of sympathy for the IT guys, who would have been in the eye of the storm.

Before you deploy a new system, IT will want a trial run to prove that the concept works in the environment.  Most commonly, for systems that are a bit leading edge like the one Celtic bought during lockdown to broadcast games, you are likely to stress the infrastructure in ways that the dozen-or -so earlier adopters did not.  During the trial, the vendor, not just the customer, will often discover things they did not know.

I’ve been there.  Irate customers waiting to buy, while the issue gradually escalates up the customer’s chain of command, with each level of the food chain one telling you how much money this downtime is costing them.  “Today is supposed to be the trial” is what you want to say, and it’s the truth, but you bite your tongue, block the noise out and get on with finding the fix.  All this happens while you communicate tersely the vendor, without going overboard, because at this moment, you need them more than they need you.  Software is not a business for the anxious.

I know it was frustrating, but I thought IT did well to stick the stream onto YouTube and get the login process working before halftime.  If only every workaround I’ve been involved with went that smoothly.

Live updates of Celtic v Hibernian will appear below – Pass to Paradise permitting!

If Rogic is injured again, it’s a situation that needs addressed, lucky if he’s been available for about 30% of games

It’s not unknown for a boy to grow a bit more after the age of 17 but I agree it’s the strength and muscle which is more important . Jinky did not badly for a wee fella!

Everyone sounds like they are doing well.

    Mon the hoops,

Good to hear the real Olie has turned up.

  4. Would like to see Klimala partnered up front.Think the like of Eddy,Griff, would get a bit of freedom, because Klimala certainly occupies defenders.

I find it difficult to see the shape of the team. Ntcham is all over the pitch, at once taking the ball off the CHs, the next hustling theirs. Is he paired with Soro, or inside Henderson or behind Klimala?

Whatever he is, he’s very effective, although he’s taking Soro’s ball time and again, which is a bit of a shame as the fellow looks like an athlete and fair zips the passes.

On the other side, I can’t see any shape or purpose in the Robertson/Dembele combo, assuming they’re paired. All a bit improvised from this armchair.

100% Bada, he seems to miss more and more each year, then takes months to get match sharp then gets injured.

    Shame,

  7. I think it has been a very good performance. Had about 5 good goal chances,

Ralston, McInroy have done well at the back.

I wouldn’t say any of the eleven have left themselves down.

I agree nobody has let themselves down. But Dembele and Ntcham really stand out.

Unfortunately, we have been on the recieving end of some rough treatment.

I see it as a straight back 4, a central 3 (with Soro being, usually, the deepest lying).

Both Dembele and Henderson are very advanced and this is because Klimala can’t hold it up for as long as Eddy does.

Of course with N’tcham trying to be leader, he is appearing in defence and attack. I kinda like fluid systems and think all systems should be- react to where tha ball is and where the opposition are

Olly is playing well- but so are several others. He might be number one but he’s not miles in front

  11. Henderson knows how to take a corner. Some of the seniors might want to watch him.

Good start to the second half, O’Connell has made a bright statt.

On a separate note, the half – time sausage roll today was excellent

Griff looks as if he will come on. I hope his calves and hamstrings are up for this.

Isn’t it a bit sad that the bar is set so low for corners that the commentators rave about any that miss the first defender, do not go straight to the goalkeeper, or are blootered out the side of the park?

  14. Iniquitousiv,

Indeed. You would think it would be one of the easier skills to master, but so many clearly haven’t or concentrate too hard on getting decent pace on the ball.

  15. IniquitousIV on

Gray takes forever to take a free kick, then hits it straight out of the park. Shockingly poor from a

    professional player.

  16. only an idiot would predict the outcome , but I see enough to say that paddy and griff will score before the end of the game, their movment is good already, and it will click ………….

    here we go.

  17. That interception by Soro was something else. Hibs player looks like he’s going to pull the trigger.

But Soro comes in from the side like a steam train and deftly taps the ball away from between the Hibs players legs!
