IT troubles and Celtic v Hibernian Live updates

395

Like many of you, I struggled to get logged on with my Pass to Paradise for the Ross County game yesterday.  On the one hand, I was frustrated, but on the other, I had a bit of sympathy for the IT guys, who would have been in the eye of the storm.

Before you deploy a new system, IT will want a trial run to prove that the concept works in the environment.  Most commonly, for systems that are a bit leading edge like the one Celtic bought during lockdown to broadcast games, you are likely to stress the infrastructure in ways that the dozen-or -so earlier adopters did not.  During the trial, the vendor, not just the customer, will often discover things they did not know.

I’ve been there.  Irate customers waiting to buy, while the issue gradually escalates up the customer’s chain of command, with each level of the food chain one telling you how much money this downtime is costing them.  “Today is supposed to be the trial” is what you want to say, and it’s the truth, but you bite your tongue, block the noise out and get on with finding the fix.  All this happens while you communicate tersely the vendor, without going overboard, because at this moment, you need them more than they need you.  Software is not a business for the anxious.

I know it was frustrating, but I thought IT did well to stick the stream onto YouTube and get the login process working before halftime.  If only every workaround I’ve been involved with went that smoothly.

Live updates of Celtic v Hibernian will appear below – Pass to Paradise permitting!

I can get the game on my PC but my Samsung Smart TV browser won’t accept my log-in details.

My Samsung is about 2 yrs old and it works ok. Older models may have incompatibility issues ?

  2. Good driving run by Soro but fouled as he played through ball for Dembele

Free kick for Celtic , 25 yards out but Ntcham lifts it over the bar.

35 minutes gone, still 0-1 but Celtic dominating possession.

  3. They may even have compatibility issues as well Embra,

Is this Ref making an application to join the Lodge.

Our free kicks are garbage. It is incredible that we have no one, with the exception of Griffiths, that can even put one on target, or force a save from the keeper. Ntcham, Bitton and others we have tried, either hit the wall or balloon it into Row Z.

  5. Two chances inside a minute. dembele shot deflected wide – was on target. elHamed heads just wide from resulting corner

  6. the TV stream is working today, probably a lot less log ins and i am at work with the uber internet so still not convinced it will work at home next week

strong Hibs team out. The goal was down to communication; that’s not unusual with a mixed line up. Thought Hazard was poor in committing early when he couldn’t see round Ralston but been good on crosses

Ntcham is a class above everyone. Has to play regularly this year. Elhamed looking good too

Robertson, Dembele and Klimala are easy on the eye. Klimala needs to hold the run a bit more

Henderson doing OK, Welsh not really tested

Soro looking mobile and a bit more confident today

    Ralston and McInroy look comfortable.

Dembele just bagged a good goal after good tackle by Ntcham

Totally agree, and then the commentator compounds it by stating something like : Ntcham will have to get used to finding where the target is”

I thought , has it moved about 10 yards higher or what .😁

  8. Gies peace about the ref and the lodge ,it’s a broken record ,Apart from Nitcham and Kimala I think you can see a few off them being sent out on loan,Kimala down injured

Klimala trying hard, but slow as a week in jail. Does not have the pace to get away from 3 Hibs defenders, who are no Usain Bolts themselves.

  10. Really like Scott Robertson

    PS

Stevie Mallen hit a good shot. saved well by Hazard, but looks like he has been eating pies since lockdown!

  11. HT 1-1

Youngsters giving a good account of themselves, led by Ntcham, who is at least a level up on everyone else on the park. Strolled through the first half.

That was a good watch. A competitive game with both teams trying to play football.

  13. Enjoyable game, better than yesterday,

Iniquitous, I know it’s all about opinions but Kilmala, no pace as slow as a week in jail.

    Are you serious.?

I hope Karamoko can put on a bit of height and weight . When he can match his opponents physically he will be unstoppable.

Disagree about Klimala , he has decent pace and is troubling the Hibs defenders .

  15. So far, liking McInroe, doing well.Ollie, pure class.Klimala, working like a demon.Gets some rough treatment, but keeps defenders occupied.Soro neat and tidy in everything, but suffering because Olly being looked for all the time by teammates.I just get the feeling some could be doing more with this chance to impress.

  16. why only play with 1 striker , get the griff on alongside the pole, AR no future at Celtic , will find his own level.

ON a class above the rest.

    Soro doing ok

  17. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Enjoyable enough first half.

Hope from a decent contribution from El Hamed this season.

It’s very telling in this kind of games watching the speed of thought of a proper first team player.

  18. INIQUITOUSIV

Nowadays a week in jail is only 4 and a half days so reasonably quick.🤗

  19. Guys who have impressed:

    Karomoko

    Ntcham

    Henderson

    Robertson

Klimala is trying out there and I wouldn’t say he’s had brilliant service. But need to see more from him and Soro if they want to break into the first team.

  20. Ron67

Thought AR is doing ok – he was drawn out of position at the goal to cover the centre

    Opinions eh

  21. ` ( Klimala) Does not have the pace to get away from 3 Hibs defenders, `

Just an outside chance that the Hibs player standing on his ankle slowed him down a bit.

Ntcham looking a class above most others on the pitch; Soro looking promising.

Elhamed also looks good ( apart from one `mistake` but Bitton was blamed for that so all is OK for Big Tam).

Overall, not a bad performance so far.
