IT troubles and Celtic v Hibernian Live updates

395

Like many of you, I struggled to get logged on with my Pass to Paradise for the Ross County game yesterday.  On the one hand, I was frustrated, but on the other, I had a bit of sympathy for the IT guys, who would have been in the eye of the storm.

Before you deploy a new system, IT will want a trial run to prove that the concept works in the environment.  Most commonly, for systems that are a bit leading edge like the one Celtic bought during lockdown to broadcast games, you are likely to stress the infrastructure in ways that the dozen-or -so earlier adopters did not.  During the trial, the vendor, not just the customer, will often discover things they did not know.

I’ve been there.  Irate customers waiting to buy, while the issue gradually escalates up the customer’s chain of command, with each level of the food chain one telling you how much money this downtime is costing them.  “Today is supposed to be the trial” is what you want to say, and it’s the truth, but you bite your tongue, block the noise out and get on with finding the fix.  All this happens while you communicate tersely the vendor, without going overboard, because at this moment, you need them more than they need you.  Software is not a business for the anxious.

I know it was frustrating, but I thought IT did well to stick the stream onto YouTube and get the login process working before halftime.  If only every workaround I’ve been involved with went that smoothly.

Live updates of Celtic v Hibernian will appear below – Pass to Paradise permitting!

Celtic TV might be worth a try – think I pay £50 per season, live commentary followed by game replay.

  2. On the positions that we are targeting for signings (CH and GK), i thought Welsh looked a solid unit today and has good confidence and a bit of dig (think he played vs Thistle last year and did well at RB)

Hazard looked confident and as a full international, should be entitled to expect some games if we don’t sign a new keeper. If we do, he is in an unenviable position if he stays 3rd choice for another couple of years.

  3. I like the look of Soro, apparently he models his game on Kante and you can definitely see the similarities with his low centre of gravity and in the way he buzzes about the pitch winning the ball back and keepin it simple.

Christie, Rogic, Forrest, Edouard etc. Will love playing along with him

Ntcham on the other hand, while probably more talented, is still too careless in possession for my liking and puts us in trouble all too often

Would obviously like to keep both however…

    B-)

I’ll be honest, only watched since the weather was awful and even the dug didn’t want to go out🐕. However what a pleasant surprise, good game and youngsters encouraging.

What be happy with those bhoys as backup to the first team.

  5. As already stated by many

Highly impressive 2nd hand performance from Luca Connell

Didn’t think any of the young Bhoys let themselves down, all impressive

Klimala and Soro, also done well

No failures, so a great day Bhoys

    And hopefully

  6. Luca Connell very impressive and assured when he came on.

Think Soro done well and will get better with game time.

Not so sure Scott Robertson and Ewan Henderson have what it takes …too many mistakes from both players.

I probably agree with your viewpoints less often than I share them but I was with you on with this:

`we are a different team playing 2 up top` and I also agree that Soro played well.

  8. The double standards on here employed by some is breathtaking.

CQN is known for having a more mature clientele than other sites but surely no reason for the short term memory lapses.

Suddenly friendlies can be an occasion to judge players, not the case last week. My view is consistent, these games are fitness exercises, some have more reason to impress than others.

Well done Celtic on winning a training session match and if im balanced, well done Sevco on winning a training session cup.

Excuse me if i wait until the real action starts before i judge.

Ask yourselves this ? who has the bigger motivation to impress, yesterday’s player’s who at least KNOW they’re starting at the weekend or today’s squad, some of these guys today have already come up short but of course now they’ve made massive improvements. All this plus the opposition must be considered.

Just thought id post today because apparently some posters only post in defeat. Me, Not guilty Guv.

  9. Gene

Kerr McInroy, done well in 2nd half

Yong Robertson didn’t let us down, when he moved to let Luca to come on

Are you saying it is not possible to make a meaningful assessment of a player in a Friendly?

  11. I like Henderson, I think he is a great talent, however, like his brother, he may be better suited to playing in Italy or Spain where he would have the time and space to pick a pass that he doesn’t get in the hundred mile an hour pace of the SPFL

The youngsters would indeed get kicked , all with the referee’s blessing but then so do all our players. Besides , Soro and Connell look like they could look after themselves , while Karamoko will soon learn to adapt to a different kind of game to the one he is used to playing in.

The big question is , can we afford to take any risks when going after the 10? Maybe introduce some of these players if we are 3 or 4 up with 20 minutes to play .

Today was effectively a reserve tie. This wasn’t players who are established like Scott Brown or Callum McGregor just trying to get minutes in their legs.

It is genuinely different from even yesterday’s game.

This is reserve players giving their all to be considered for the first team. Realistically only Ntcham has a chance of starting.

  14. Thoroughly enjoyed the game and impressed with what we have in reserve.

Would like to see El Hamed get a run at right back.

  15. Easily my favourite watch of all five of our pre-season games.

We have 3 ,4 or 5 players in that team today that are well worthy of first team football.

Wee Dembelle was terrific and Soro impressive.

  16. Gene 4:18, neither was big Tam a natural left back, signed as a right sided centre half as was Ian Young who ended up partnering him on the field and in song.

I honestly think there are bhoys on this forum who wake up and start arguing with themselves in the mirror while shaving😱😵😂😂

I understand Vasilis Barkas to Celtic is done. Five million euros with one million in bonuses. 10% sell on fee for AEK. @TheAthleticUK

  19. Welsh ,Robertson ,Henderson,I Predict them 3 will be out on loan next season, I wouldn’t bring in another goalkeeper ,Hazard , Doohan ,and Bain are very good stoppers if we can bring in another centre back and left back ,also young Connell looks the part, also I had hoped that Tony Ralston would have made it,but after to days showing another one who will definitely be loa

What im saying is , i already knew that every player on that field has ability.

That is different to being ready to handle the physical demands and mental demands of winning every week, a pre- requisite for a first team starter.

You can’t say last week was a training exercise and today wasn’t, that has to be taken into account.

Then you factor in surroundings and a Jack Ross team. I know Jack, the way he works, today would have been about minutes in legs, everything geared for Saturday, his teams let you play, ideal for young boys with ability on a lush big pitch. A bit off caution please, today is totally different to a tight pitch at Killie, even Hamilton, when their trying to stop you playing, totally different game. I’m reading, these players should play Cup ties, the pick of the bunch maybe, one or two, play them all, you’ll get knocked out. Just a cup final brings in over 1M revenue, these cups are important. A few played away to Cluj we got turned over, just looking for a bit of consistency, win, lose or draw.

  21. what’s the score with Guntman currently loaned to US team? I think he looked promising with pace and energy to get up and down the pitch – he’s getting rave reviews from US performances! is he back in the squad?

  22. RON67 on 27TH JULY 2020 5:03 PM

is M. SHVED still our player , if he is wtf is he

    ____

    He’s a write off

We will be sending him out the door on loan or permanently
