It’s all about Tannadice, your AIM nomad

808

The stage is set. Dundee United, the club who were last to beat Celtic, stand in the way of their treble ambitions, as the clubs meet on three consecutive occasions next month.  The first game, a Scottish Cup quarter final at Tannadice, is the most crucial.

United lost their best two players last week but they remain they will know that beating Celtic at home will make them favourites for the Scottish Cup.  They will be far less confident at the following week’s League Cup final, Dundee United expectations are always low at Hampden, but pressure will be on the club to win their home game.

A note on the suitability or otherwise of a director of a public company.  In the UK, only the courts can ban you from being a company director, HMRC cannot ban you, any more than they can ban you from driving.  In the UK, public companies are held to a higher standard than private companies.  If anyone presents to you claiming, “HMRC have never banned me from driving/being a company director”, you know your being misled.  The same is true for most jurisdictions.

The AIM market requires companies to have nominated adviser (nomad), which carries out regulator duties on behalf of the market, and ultimately shareholders.  The fact that UK, or other, courts have not prohibited you from being a company director implies nothing about your suitability as a director of a public company.  When it comes to the AIM market, this suitability is judged by your effective regulator, your nomad.  A recent history of financial criminal activity, for example, will give your nomad plenty to consider, as would a recent history of being a director in a liquidated public company.  Far more would decline such a candidate than approve.

That Dominique Strauss-Kahn is a rum ‘un

I’m surprised he’s not said he’s buying shares in Sevco.

    He certainly fits the demographic.

  6. The EPL deal is fantastic.

Put your ingrained prejudice aside and consider it.

It is about ambition and good marketing. Quality can vary but there are shit games in any league in the world; the SPL’s in particular. If you think you’d prefer to watch Ross County v Motherwell over Man U v Liverpool you’re kidding yourself on.

It cannot be stopped because there is a hunger for it; part generic, as it’s football, part manufactured by sublime marketing and slick presentation.

Like it or not, it is there, it is winning, and it is the future of football.

We need to stop complaining and look for Celtic to have that ambition, always, to find pastures new and more rewarding; EPL, Atlanttic league, whatever – if the market can be created the rewards will follow.

If you want Celtic to stay in Scottish football after its corruption and narrow-minded outlook have been laid bare ove the last 3 years of Hunguffery then be prepared for stagnation and tedium.

I hope we’re prepared and actively seeking an escape route.

  9. people talk about an Atlantic League…..lets say Celtic V FC Twente on a thus night at Celtic Park…whats the crowd and how many watching on tv….really….

  10. The sfa and league should disband.

Every team should then apply for north British league membership. And join the pyramid system there every team would find its level

Lustig …injured and out for a month

No matter how good a player he is…he can’t be relied upon …..we can add a new right back to the two new centre backs we will need this summer

Never heard Chick Dung last night but can imagine. I never played football at any decent level but every time an incident happened where you were going to land on someone you automatically try to avoid them. Unlike that thug McCulloch.

    Re Celtic v Twente Enschede

It depends on how it is marketed

How meaningful a match it is.

More than Spurs v Hull I would wager ?

Especially if it were a conference and divisional type construction with CL places at top of pyramid and a meaningful structure.

Easy to create with a new entity

If it were say Scotland, Holland, Belgium and Portugal as was mooted then a TV pool of 50 million folks would help.

people talk about an Atlantic League…..lets say Celtic V FC Twente on a thus night at Celtic Park…whats the crowd and how many watching on tv….really….

    ========================================

Crowd – more than would watch Celtic-St.Johnstone.

Tv audience – at least 10x that of a Celtic-St.Johnstone. Probably more in worldwide appeal. And think about how many subscriptions Celtic Tv could flog on the back of such?

Dividends – much more than current.

Celtic-Twente wouldn’t be the most glamorous game of an Atlantic league but as a component part it makes the whole concept eminently attractive.

It’s about upscaling the product and opening possibilities.

If you put together a league package including the likes of your example as a ‘normal’ matchup, with some ultra-glam ties throughout the season, then the marketing goons would be all over it; sponsored to the hilt and Celtic raking in tenfold what we get from this wee introverted environment.

Ambition. That’s what will define Celtic ion the next decade. We need to have enough, and it has to be positive and not bound by Scottish horizons.

  15. Can’t we keep the score updates from the EPL off the blog? Our game is infected enough by them without reading about it here.

  16. The QF at Tannadice is going to be crucial. All it would take for treble hopes to be dashed is a repeat of the December performance. That means us not quite at our best, a penalty denied and a good goal ruled out by a linesman with hysterical blindness. Stranger things have happened.

  17. burnley78

.ok Celtic V Twente…both mid table…Spurs V Hull draws more.

..the Europa league dont even work till it gets to later stages…thats with good English teams involved…Atlantic league is a poor mans Europa league….and that, for tv is poor….aint gonna happen…
