Celtic hammered Newco 5-1 home and away last season, knocked them out both cups, won one other game and conceded a late equaliser, allowing Newco their only moment of (cough) glory last season.

We finished 39 points ahead of Newco (who were 33 points from bottom). As we set off for the summer, glowing after the first invincible treble in history, chairman of Newco, that complete muppet Dave King, told the assembled media, “In footballing terms I don’t think Celtic are as far ahead as they could have been – certainly with our new signings.”

The two 5-1 defeats now look like Python’s Black Knight losing his legs one at a time, but protesting they were little more than flesh wounds. Except Python was a parody, this guy is being serious!

So, Brendan, Peter, Dermot, get the finger out. These people don’t believe 5-1 is a substantial enough winning margin. When we pitch up at Ibrox on the weekend of 23/24 September, ‘go Medieval on their ass’ to borrow from Quentin.

    Jude , it will be good if Josh impresses and progresses at Brighton.

     

     

    Their boss, Chris Hughton, comes over as a top man who has done well at the clubs he has managed . After getting the bums rush , very unfairly , at Newcastle , its pleasing he e has recovered to do such a great job at Brighton.

     

     

    Chris was a stalwart of the Irish team in eighties.

    Looks like it’s Bojan. Decent signing in my opinion. Very talented but lost his way. Hopefully, BR can revive his career like Scotty bhoy, if he does indeed sign. Downside, PR looks like it’s not happening especially as they are similar type players.

    Why do you keep saying Borrini is gonna sign, him and Brendan had a major falling out and as far as I know they haven’t spoken since, this came from someone who works for L/pool.

    not sure exactly what part of town he comes from . Young work colleague of mine played schoolboy football with him with Cherry Orchard, big school boy team from Ballyfermot area on the South side of city but they attract kids from all over the city.

    Apologies…..a few well Kent faces that drink in my pub told me Borrini was a cert, I just post on here as I know one or two lurk….. My rubbish humour but I sort of believed it because Brendan has a habit of going for players that he has worked with and others dismiss (Scott Sinclair) again you should know by now with my CQN picks never listen to a thing I type :-)

    Dave king(not the crooked one) was in Coronation street I think he was ‘brother’ to Jack Duckworth.Dave king(the crooked one) as far as I know,is not involved in TV at all,but could land a role in old favourite CROWN COURT if it ever makes a return to our screens.

    Don’t apologise, post what you hear, always, I just wanted to know what you know.

     

    Prob with a lot of the L/pool players will be the money they are, were on and the fact that Brendan didny have total control of the ins and outs there, they have/had a committee they decided on the signings, Brendan didn’t want all the players they brought in, Ballotelli was a prime example, I don’t know if he wanted Borrini but I do know they fell out big time.

    Sounds like everyone had a great time at Mr Minx88 stag do.

     

     

    AICSC annual charity dinner took place last night with several hundred Tims from all over Ireland present. Calum McG, Keiran T, Stuart A and Broonie represented the first team while Brendan enjoyed his first visit to our dinner.

     

     

    He said the team were hungry for more success this season and complimented the players for their 100% commitment to Celtic last season.

     

     

    Jim Craig represented the Lisbon Lions and told some cracking jokes during his speech.

     

     

    All in all it was another great night for the association and many clubs represented said that there was new interest in Celtic because of last season’s successes.
