It’s only a flesh wound. King goes Full Python

1151

Celtic hammered Newco 5-1 home and away last season, knocked them out both cups, won one other game and conceded a late equaliser, allowing Newco their only moment of (cough) glory last season.

We finished 39 points ahead of Newco (who were 33 points from bottom). As we set off for the summer, glowing after the first invincible treble in history, chairman of Newco, that complete muppet Dave King, told the assembled media, “In footballing terms I don’t think Celtic are as far ahead as they could have been – certainly with our new signings.”

The two 5-1 defeats now look like Python’s Black Knight losing his legs one at a time, but protesting they were little more than flesh wounds. Except Python was a parody, this guy is being serious!

So, Brendan, Peter, Dermot, get the finger out. These people don’t believe 5-1 is a substantial enough winning margin. When we pitch up at Ibrox on the weekend of 23/24 September, ‘go Medieval on their ass’ to borrow from Quentin.

Take five minutes to update yourself on The Road to Lisbon cyclists, who traveled from Celtic Park to Estadio Nacional last month.

This has been a phenomenal and inspiring effort by a group of Celtic fans – and so many donors.  What a great thing to be a part of.

Totally agree but the Huns would love us into their bigoted life……

Highlight why Celtic fans aren’t there……..

17th century backwardness and pure unadulterated bigotry towards Catholics (not that every Celtic fan is a catholic or holds any religion)

    Highlight the bigots CSC

Gene , it might be too good to be true if Bojan was a target for us .

What is the Stars , I always thought it was Paul McGrath who was the first black player to play Ireland but Chris was playing for Spurs regularly before Paul started for Man u .

I would have loved Paul McGrath to have played for us, what a player.

He was sitting in the front row of the main stand at Ibrox with Brian McClair when we beat sevco’s predecessors in March 1987. There was a huge roar when he was given a Celtic scarf by one of our fans . He sat with it on all through the game.

  5. The guy thats started the Bojan rumour on Twitter has a strike rate of about 1 to 1000 on his rumours coming to fruition. However that doesn’t mean we aren’t interested. Brendan may see him as a Coutinho type player. I think he would run riot up here under Brendan’s tutelage. It seems though that Bojan rejected a move to Celtic in the January window which is a bit off putting.

I know nothing about music but Deleanys Dunky & The Green Man have sort of made me listen to Glastonbury …..

That Ed Sheeran guys seems no bad :-)

Like the politics stuff that was my attempt about music….

Where is Roy Croppie when you need decent music

Paul McGrath, great player, lovely man.

Scarred by his childhood, so many stories, I used to frequent a coffee shop in the city centre where his mother worked ( lovely lady). She would tell the funniest of stories about his antics, “ah sure ya know what he’s like”.

But that was part of the problem. Every one wanted to know him and be his” Friend”.

Years later friend of mine ended up in rehab for alcoholism, Paul McGrath was part of the group. Said he was a lovely fella but so painfully shy

  8. WITS: I couldn’t afford to buy those Bhoys a drink:-) I was so tired after the gig I missed out on attending Croker today but the Dubs had an impressive win against the West Royals. Will be in Spain for the Leinster final and the All Ireland qf.

I think we should call them Arithmetico Rabbid

    Warburton can’t count to 5

    King can’t count to 6

    They can’t do their taxes,

    And they can’t budget

  10. I don’t watch a great deal of football apart from Celtic so I’m at a disadvantage regarding the ability of non Celts.

I did however go to Anfield a few years ago thanks to Phyllis D of these pages.

Bojan was the absolute stand out that day playing for a Sunderland team who quite incredibly lost 1-0 due to a last minute Johnstone goal for Liverpool.

Absolutely no idea if his signing is imminent or possible but judging from what I’ve witnessed I’ll say a big yes please.

What is the stars, Paul’s autobiography is meant to be the most open and honest account of their life by any footballer.

No excuses nothing , just brutally honest.

Its good he has got himself sorted out .

Ferguson , when he arrived at Old Trafford got rid of the unholy drinking trinity of Paul , Bryan Robson and Norman Whiteside.

When Paul signed for Derby, Jim Smith their manager said signing Paul was the easiest and no hassle deal he ever done. Paul turned up himself , no agent or entourage , explained what he was looking for . He signed his contract within half an hour of meeting Jim Smith.
