Johansen becomes second Celtic addition

818

I’ve seen nothing of Stefan Johansen but I’m delighted we have signed a central midfield player.  Deficiencies up front are glaring, especially in the Premiership, but in Europe, the critical area is central mid, where we need to control more than we did this season.

Central midfield protects your defence and provides the foundations strikers stand on, it has been an important area for Celtic to strengthen since losing our top man last summer.

Conversely, Scott Brown is playing his best football since joining Celtic in 2007 but, as his European adventures were nullified by disciplinary action, the gap was unbridgeable.  Honourable mentions should go to Charlie Mulgrew, Beram Kayal and Joe Ledley, but in the case of Charlie and Joe, they were asked to play secondary, or tertiary roles, while Beram was promoted from well down the pecking order to a Champions League starter.

Please observe the usual caveats when a new player arrives.  New club, new city, new tactics, team mates, match officials and game atmosphere, Stefan has a lot to assimilate in the coming weeks.  It took six months for Victor to settle and at least as long before Mikael, Scott and Joe looked their best.

For Stefan and Holmbert Fridjonsson the primary objective of the next six months is to prepare for Champions League qualifiers, closely followed by a Scottish Cup tie against Aberdeen in three weeks.

Welcome to Celtic, Stefan.  You have a fantastic opportunity ahead.

What do you think it would take to get a top top player to stay?

I agree with you most of the time re the politics etc, but can’t agree with you on this.

We are a selling club, so to that end we need to buy cheap, and hopefully sell for profit.

We have done ok with defenders and middys the past year or so, so we will keep doing that.

Was it wrong to buy Vic for less than a mill and sell for 12 mill ?

This fella might bring in the same in a year or so, who knows, Big Virgil will be sold for serious money, it that wrong ?

Until we are out of this sectarian hellhole, we have no other choice, we will buy in the hope of making profit.

  11. the desire to drive politics out of football is just another example of the ruling classes attempting to create a one society fits all position where no one is allowed to express beliefs that don’t fit the greater good i.e. clueless clones and zombies that don’t question anything and easily exploited by the few who take the most.

its not just football, as a society we are feed propaganda after propaganda in public arenas (his-story) yet when a person or group with different beliefs or values does likewise in a public arena he or she is vilified and often criminalised.

gods greatest gift to man is free will and government and the ruling classes biggest threat is free will argo the establishments attempts to take it away. they do this by demonizing those people who question or challenge the propaganda or the self style rules/ laws.

the GB ask pertinent questions and highlight hypocrisy in a public arena, in an arena might I add where the main sponsor (nike) use poor people in third world to make cheap sports wear for those in the first world, and for asking questions they are demonized and criminalised.

is this the world you want your children to live and grow up in?

were 5% of the population share 95 % of the wealth and power while children are starving?

    were we don’t tolerate difference?

do you want your children criminalised for holding different beliefs and values?

do you want your children to be inquisitive or passive accepters of all propaganda?

who should decide what questions are important, the way and where they should be asked?

    ………………………………………………

I think its worth remembering just about every positive change to every society throughout the history of mankind has come about because people have been willing to be demonized and criminalised in order to see challenge the status quo.

history is littered with hundreds of men and women who have dared to stand for and die for what they believed in. however, millions have not been named in the literature.

Thindimebhoy you are entirely missing the point. Celtic are now part of the criminalisation of the support because they have carried out the police and scottish government will to outlaw a legal group (the GB). Celtic have also allowed the victimisation of the support. They have become our enemy. Its always worse when those who you trust turn on you.

    Boycott Celtic.

Big Wavy of course celtic are propping up sectarianism. Celtic have said nothing while the open corruption that has occurred with the huns took place. They said NOTHING. Celtic were being cheated and they SAID NOTHING.

Worse than that. When the government decided to criminalise the celtic support not only did celtic not object but THEY JOINED IN. They sent details to the police of the support to allow them to be arrested for nothing. They then denied it and then were proven to be liars. Next they said lateral movement was threatening the closure of the stadiium. When GCC denied it they were proven to be liars. They banned the GB en masse after motherwell and despite the fact that not one of them were arrested they are now in hiding.

They are propping up a sectarian scotland. Can I make it clearer for you?

Lenny is trying imo his level best to improve the team, it also helps his CV big time, he is constrained big time, but is doing a very good job all things considered, from the bombs and bullits, the personal attacks, the media attacks, the lack of a level playing field on and off the park, he has done a wonderful job.

Sadly, the suits see things rather differently, the sanatisation of the support puzzles me big time, what are they scared of, who are they scared of, why are thay scared.

Appeasement is doomed to fail, we are seeing the crowds fall away for a variety of reasons.

I honestly believe if the club stood by the support, the support would come flooding back, until then……..

“You got a link to that? I really honestly don’t remember that. I’d go as far as to say that statement is false and another urban myth perpetuated by some against the GB. If you can provide a link to you story or otherwise prove GB said they sold tickets to fans outwith their group I’ll apologise.”

Eddie I just read your post and cannot locate a link. My recollection was it came from a thread on the GB site. I understand that both you and I are registered on the site as I have seen your sign in name there.

The GB definitely apologised for the failure to “police” their own section at Motherwell. I also recall a thread on their site, in the aftermath, stating that they would need to tighten up on sale of tickets to non GB members. I don’t think its an urban myth but I have no idea of the numbers involved that they were referring to.

I am in favour of the GB and believe they are more sinned against than sinning but the policy of “no go” areas for police in a stadium is not one that I want to take hold. If the pyro is given up or, a safe display of it is sanctioned by the club and authorities, then I would hope for maintaining the atmosphere.

Sadly, I fear mistrust on all sides but, particularly now from the GB towards the Board, will prevent any quick return of the atmosphere.

We are all loser as a result.

Yeah there was contradiction there professor – well noted, it was deliberate. I used it to highlight the irony of having all the young talented players we have and rigidly sticking to one who has been given ample chances ( ok he has been injured I know) to shine and has failed to produce.

When was the last time James Forrest wowed the crowed for even 45 out of 90 mins?

When did he come off the park having had some full back in his pocket?

When did he last regularly during a match take up good position?

When was he last lauded for spraying a few passes around and linking well within the team structure?

Does he regularly drop a shoulder and curl a shot to either far corner?

Is constantly mention in commentary for demanding the ball and getting involved?

You tell me, everytime I go and see him he is ordinary to say the least.

Its only an opinion perhaps you see something I don’t.

Plenty of people on here probably love him, it might be the reason they go and see celtic- because he is playing.

Each to his own. He totally destroyed the Trabzonspor left back last Thursday night. IIRC he also roasted the St. Mirren full back for a 45 minute period recently. He also took us into the CL qualifiers by taking up good position to link up with team mate Stoksie to rattle the ball into the Shakyter net. I seem to remember him bending in two goals this season with the outside of his right foot. All in all I think James is developing splendidly.

With regard to those who who compare James and Aiden, I think it was Bamboo above who summed it up best: Aiden is more skilful but James is more effective.

Shweco Nominees have been big investors in the “pump n Dump” penny shares firms controlled by Rafat Ali Rizvi.

That includes Nova Resources – which Chuckles Green was Chairman of shortly before being called back to Britain to be the “Chosen One” selected by Craig Whyte and his fellow spivs to front the Sevco fakeover.

Chris Morgan is involved there now, as is Mazen Houssami, lawyer for the Abela clan who have controlled much of what has gone on in the Sevco boardroom up to now via Blue Pitch Holdings, Margarita Trust and Norne-Ansalt plus Kaisar and Haddad.

It’s hard to be sure of what has gone on here but it seems Hughes has cashed in his chips and left the Spivs to finish what they started.

I think it’s gonna get even nastier from here on in for the Sevconian hordes.
