Johansen becomes second Celtic addition

818

I’ve seen nothing of Stefan Johansen but I’m delighted we have signed a central midfield player.  Deficiencies up front are glaring, especially in the Premiership, but in Europe, the critical area is central mid, where we need to control more than we did this season.

Central midfield protects your defence and provides the foundations strikers stand on, it has been an important area for Celtic to strengthen since losing our top man last summer.

Conversely, Scott Brown is playing his best football since joining Celtic in 2007 but, as his European adventures were nullified by disciplinary action, the gap was unbridgeable.  Honourable mentions should go to Charlie Mulgrew, Beram Kayal and Joe Ledley, but in the case of Charlie and Joe, they were asked to play secondary, or tertiary roles, while Beram was promoted from well down the pecking order to a Champions League starter.

Please observe the usual caveats when a new player arrives.  New club, new city, new tactics, team mates, match officials and game atmosphere, Stefan has a lot to assimilate in the coming weeks.  It took six months for Victor to settle and at least as long before Mikael, Scott and Joe looked their best.

For Stefan and Holmbert Fridjonsson the primary objective of the next six months is to prepare for Champions League qualifiers, closely followed by a Scottish Cup tie against Aberdeen in three weeks.

Welcome to Celtic, Stefan.  You have a fantastic opportunity ahead.

I don’t think the Celtic Trust would be THAT silly, would they…????

The Celtic Trust will never get a seat on the Board……specific ‘skills’ are required.

    Yep.Skills not possessed by theoreticians.

    You`re hopefully right.

    Doesn`t stop them agitating,though.

Meantime, they attempt to embarrass our Board and Club with the “Living wage” nonsense. But only for employees of Glasgow Celtic.

    Is that not discriminatory ?

Could not agree more. The most important person, the manager, rates him very highly and heis one of the first on the team sheet when fit. My only doubt regarding him is his injury record. If this can be solved then he can go on to become a great Celtic player.

The decision to clear the armed forces of their disgraceful behaviour at Ibrox, is reaching new depths of bigotry, by the law, the police and the armed forces. On what grounds can it be claimed that their chanting and their banners were not political, offensive and sectarian. This decision cannot go unchallenged or we can give up any hope of justice and fairness in this little country. How do we go about challenging it – HELP!

Their political stance seems to be identical to that of the Celtic trust.

The “war criminal” accusations against John Reid and the upside down banners.

The clincher for me was the “kettling”farce where it seemed that the G.B. were deliberately provocative and achieved the derided result. The Celtic trust rides to the rescue, the rally in George Sq.surrounded by hundreds of good Celtic supporters who,in my opinion were simply duped by the machinations of the C.T.

The C.T. want a seat on the Board. The G.B. are the disposable cannon fodder.

    Sorry,got to run.

Whilst that was very uplifting the equating of it to a group of young rabscallions with a few party tunes, a drum and an upside down banner is just OTT in the extreme . I love their noise and colour but they aren’t liberating civilizations FGS…..

    ……………………………………………………..

I was not comparing like for like, but a group of people are being criminalised and demonized because the ruling classes i.e. law makers etc… wish to remove political banners, songs etc… from the public arena, oh unless it is acceptable politics and songs, then its ok. you know like poppy’s on football tops, minute silence for mandela etc…

thing is, its not just football, the drive for conformity in thought is massive in just about every area of our lives. if people don’t challenge hypocrisy then were does it stop? we are actually meant to live in the free world in a democratic society. western society does not birch people like the uncivilised societies, no we just demonize and criminalise them

Without them, we have a chance to reap the rewards of the CL cash for the forseeable, with them back, the honest mistakes will see a halt to that gravy train.
