Keep our name out of it, Salmond

1113

I’ve heard some utter tosh from politicians over the years but never anything so blatantly untrue as the comments from our First Minister, Alex Salmond, reported today.  This clown is telling people Rangers need to be saved for the sake of Celtic.  He said:

“The most diehard Celtic supporter understands that Celtic can’t prosper unless Rangers are there. The rest of the clubs understand that as well. Therefore you have to have cognisance of these things when you’re pursuing public policy.

Keep our name out of it you incoherent fool.

If our prosperity depends on the survival of Rangers it’s time our values and priorities changed.  You of all people should know this after your lecturing last year.  Celtic have not been well served by their association with Rangers, nor vice versa.  As a combined entity, the ‘Old Firm’ have not been good for Scotland.

I’m keen to hear what his “public policy” on the matter is.  Salmond goes on to say:

“We’ve certainly been arguing to HMRC on one hand, and indeed to Rangers, to for goodness sake get a settlement, get a settlement and a structure over time whereby Rangers can continue because Rangers must continue for the future of Scottish football and for the fabric of the country.”

How dare you argue with HMRC?  Even Rangers admit the potential underpayment could be £75m.  How many nurses, teachers and policemen would that employ, Mr Salmond?  This is the true cost of his position.

This sorry business has nothing to do with Celtic, I hope our club make this clear to provocative politicians.  All you die-hard Celtic supporters out there better let this man know he has no right to speak for you.

“Fabric of the country”. He got that bit right, alas.

RAMT, here is the real truth of the matter……

If you are in the media, and on this one and only occasion, I will include Celtic Quick News in this category, Rangers is good for business. Your income might depend on it, the size of your income will depend on it.

Without Rangers, fewer Celtic fans will go to Celtic Park (compare Rangers game attendances with other games, including Euro games), fewer people will read CQN or CQN Magazine, fewer people will buy and advertise in newspapers or on radio.

Celtic will deal with this, other clubs should learn to do the same. CQN will flourish as a smaller community. Most of the rest of the media will fight for their survival.

Which version of Paul67 are we to believe or are both the truth? Maybe opportunity knocked for pro-unionist political point scoring, hey ho, everyone does don’t they…the issue is a bit larger than changing your entire view in 3 days

    My own opinion

    1) Alex Salmond shouldn’t have lumped Celtic in with Rangers, its Rangers that’s in administration not Celtic.

    2) I am still pro-independent. I believe in Irish nationalism and so I believe in Scottish nationalism, Oro se do bheatha abhaile applies to Scotland to whom it was initially written as much as Ireland.

Whatever Alex Salmond’s opinion on Football makes no difference to that view.

  11. Love the Wiki on ‘Having a Whitey’, think they may need to update the entry for this one!

“Whitey is a drug slang term for when a recreational drug user, as a direct or indirect result of drug use (usually cannabis), begins to faint and usually faints. The term comes from the way one’s skin turns pale during and after a fainting episode. While fainting is usually only a problem for those with low blood pressure, it can become possible for those without hypotension to faint after using cannabis or other drugs which have the short-term effect of lowering the blood pressure. Whiteying is perceived by the stoner subculture as the result of using too much cannabis within too short a period of time. In fact the factors that usually facilitate fainting, such as tiredness, lack of fluids and food, and a hot and humid environment, as well as natural hypotension, are just as important as the amount of cannabis involved. Therefore, one can ‘throw’ a whitey having used only what may be regarded as a perfectly moderate dosage. Whiteying sometimes involves vomiting and shakiness. It has been alleged in some internet sites[which?] that Whiteying(in this case, vomiting) is a result of having low blood sugar, and that eating something with a high sugar content will reduce the risk of vomiting, but this is merely hearsay, and is backed by no real evidence.

Another form of whiteying is “the dead zone” or “spins” as it is popularly known amongst certain groups[which?] of cannabis users. The dead zone causes one to become aggressively submissive and dizzy. Symptoms include; sweaty palms, nausea, hot flushes, blurred vision, and an overwhelming feeling of paranoia. When in the dead zone any form of mobility and communication is extremely difficult and stressful, all these symptoms combined would create the illusion that one is indeed “dead” or “spinning out”. The dead zone can last for an hour or ten minutes depending on the person, and usually involves mixing cannabis with alcohol, particularly if one drinks before smoking.”

I don’t think we should underestimate the lengths these cheats will go to ,to keep their superior status .

I Will be truly astounded if there are no jail terms for anyone involved in this .

To play this out in full public view and walk away with no penalties will surely blow away forever the paranoid tag we have had to put up with for so many years .

How many of the peepil over there have been brought up on success ,they don’t do 2nd place and all laughed when the taxpayers money was being discarded .Only when the peepils money was apparently taken did they stir and ask questions .

These are the kind of peepil that would push climb over women and children to be first on the life boats of a sinking ship and their puppet masters know it .

Has anyone ever asked them to pay their dues in all this and I mean anyone all the way to the top of government .

    Paul67 great leader article.

I’ve always been of the opinion that a long slow lingering demise (of the huns) would be the best option for us, now however I’m listening to these politicos ex players (tax paid ?) and media type clowns who all think its ok to swindle the country out of up to £75million. Now I want the endgame to be immediate, get them by the throat and squeeze the lifeblood out of them, they deserve bitter!

Alex Salmond`s comments today were deplorable. If there is any justice in the world these comments will result in his resignation and public disgrace as a hypocrite and a soundbite machine bereft of substance.

He publicly threatened HMRC by suggesting that if they were to pull the plug on Rangers then Celtic would not survive. Apart from being completely false – and brilliantly shot down by our Club – this is blatant bullying, blackmail and interference.

The taxes collected by HMRC fund all sorts of worthy causes across Scotland and the UK.

Across the entire Scottish Government budgets have been cut following the Autumn 2011 spending review. People working in a range of sectors across Scotland, including education, local government, public transport etc can testify to this. Salmond blamed these cuts on reductions in Scotland`s funding from Westminster which in turn is ultimately funded by taxes collected by HMRC.

Salmond is demanding that RFC are treated with leniency which reduces tax receipts and in turn reduces government funding for Scotland. And rather than have the balls to say this explicitly he tries to justify his idiotic position by falsely dragging Celtic into Rangers tax avoidance mess.

Forget football allegiances, the people of Scotland should never tolerate such hypocritical nonsense.

I wrote to Salmond today. I said that I was in favour of Scottish Independence but not under a Salmond leadership or even an SNP government after their actions of the past few months.

No to independence were bigots and anti- Irish/Catholic politicians are involved.

  16. Ok, the reasons why a newco MAY be reinstated to the SPL is that this newco will bring two benefits.

    1. Sky deal.

    2. The Scottish game needs Celtic and Rangers.

(this also confirms that any newco, will not be viewed as a newco – it’s Rangers)

    Anyhow, to my main point.

A 5 man panel will sit in judgement of whether or not they are re-admitted. The ONLY possible reasons they can give for voting yes, is again, the 2 reasons already stated.

Perhaps Celtic hold the key cards here after all.

Consider Rangers DO go into liquidation.

Celtic, and maybe even Aberdeen/Hearts/Hibs/DundeeUtd, should make it public before any hearing, that they will resign with immediate effect if they are allowed back in. Mad Vlad would jump at the chance.

This removes the only 2 reasons that are being given as to why newco should get back in.

    No Celtic – no point.

Would they be as stupid as to allow Celtic , and possibly others, to walk away just to ensure a NEWCO was admitted at the top level? Even given the depths they sink to on occasion, they would expose themselves once and for all if they did.

I hope Celtic are planning this immediately the admin result is finalised.

  18. My view is that Whyte has committed daylight robbery. He has stashed the cash off-shore, as much as he could get, whilst his employees are going to get their P45’s, and his creditots SFA.

However, this is his normal way of dealing with his businesses, but this time the full glare of the media will be cast upon him, not to mention the anger of his support.

In other words, he has overstepped the mark and will be brought to book.

  22. All the crap about an institution gets my coat right up this scottish institution was built on biggotry and anti catholisism, we have a the first minister the same one who last year brought about a new law concerning biggotry due to the fact that a game between us and those potless monkeys went against them. I hope I can remind you that they had 2 palyers sent off, there player ignored the police and threw his top into the crowed, there players manhandled the ref. No action was taken by the SPL/SFA of any other authorites. Then Lenny during this period was recieving death threats and had to hire a boady gaurd. He had a few words with the fat man who will be on the brew very soon and fat salmon had to get involved then. Now we all know what you need to be to get in a high position in Scottish politics. You have to be part of the Mason’s. I am starting to get wound up about this situation. ROK, Cannought, Donaghue engineering, woolworths, must I go on these company’s all went into administration thousands of jobs lost where was all the politicians during this, I ask myself are these peoples jobs of a lesser value than the employees of a taxdodging company who we have tolerated for 140 years I dont think so!

Pggtips, maybe fewer people will go, in the short term, but as the finacial playing field levels maybe Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts, Dundee Utd et al will become more competitive and flourish.

Then their fans will demand a flow of information about their club, then MSM and bloggers from those clubs will have a market. And we may have to downsize, medium term.

But then, perhaps new rivalrys will also flourish, on a level playing field.

    No hatred, just rivalry.
