Kilmarnock don’t enjoy Celtic Park

575

Kilmarnock don’t enjoy visits to Celtic Park, winning only once there since 1955, but seldom have they been on the receiving end of such a humiliating result from such a young and inexperienced Celtic team. You and I have seen these games – especially in the League Cup – go wrong so many times in recent seasons: Morton, Falkirk and Partick, to name just three.

What we have at the club now is energy and purpose that makes even our experiments seem potent. Brendan Rodgers must have been delighted at what he got from his players.

For some, like Leigh Griffiths, it was another hour nearer full fitness. These minutes are crucial in preparation for the almighty test of the season against Astana at Celtic Park one week from today.

Really pleased Roy Aitken will be around Celtic Park more often in future in his new role as Club Ambassador.  Roy was a huge figure at Celtic in the 70s and 80s, but there’s at least one generation since who know little about him.

.. We’ll be Wednesday, they’ll be Tuesday, possibly vice verse but probably not. ..

My point being one team may get an extra day’s rest before noon Saturday ? Imagine the Govan outcry if we play Tuesday ?

  2. Great to see Roy Aitken becoming a Celtic Ambassador, the Bear was an excellent Captain and an underrated Footballer. Nice Touch Cellic.

Wonderful result last night, utilising the Yout’ making it sweeter, the Captain’s Goal making it the sweetest…

Whose going to be letting that ghuy maraude from the half way line?

Interesting tie away to Dundee next…

I don’t think it matters mate. 900 Celtic supporters were suspended immediately because of a banner without any internal investigation taking place.

Last night someone suffered permanent disfigurement inside Parkhead. All I’m saying is the club’s reaction would probably have been different had it taken place in the standing section.

  4. Could not give a Monkeys were anyone plays. No one will live with us.Seen a tweet from a dundee fan after the draw.He said”Knew we would get Celtic.Unless they give all the rest of the teams 5 goals of a start, then they can give the cup to Celtic now”.He is not wrong.

  5. Heard a guy went into park unchallenged and targeted someone….unconfirmed…you won’t need to get Taggart out his grave to catch him

  6. Doesnt matter if we play Tues or Wednesday

    its futile

I`ve often thought how good some operatic numbers would sound if belted out at celtic Park. The Anvil Chorus , as you mentioned , would be great as would ` Va pensiero sull’ali dorate ` ( The Hebrew Slaves Chorus from Nabucco). Verdi lends himself to being sung at Celtic Park :-).

The Hebrew Chorus has, ever since I can remember, has been my Dad’s favourite piece of music, along with Begin the Beguine by Artie Shaw.

This article describes Hail Hail (The Celtic Song) as a bit of a hybrid with the Anvil Chorus from Il Trovatore and With Cat Like Tread from Pirates of Penzance

My only foray into opera – I went with my wife, her sister and her then boyfriend to see Pirates of Penzance in Glasgow Theatre Royal a few years ago. Trying.a bit of culture for once.

Curtain about to go up – I leaned over and whispered to Murphy “This’ll be be different – no Celtic songs here mate!” Five seconds later, I couldn’t believe it :-)

Many people think that they don’t like opera/classical music but most films are still set to classical music and the tunes become very popular.

JJ /PARKHEADCUMSALFORD – Hebrew chorus is just so beautiful. For it to be used at Celtic Park it would need Celtic words added. we need a player to sing about whose name scans with the tune.

    BGFC – nice surprise.

This is a great example of a football crowd responding to classical violin

Take it that means croatia Jim

But could you phonetically write it for me or it’s just pronounced “Croatia”

Pronunciation is – hir-vat-ski which means Croatian. Hrvatska is the name of the country Croatia. When you see letters like hr together, you add an “i” to make it pronounceable.

The Dundee game is the midweek between two midweek CL games, we’ll play the B team so whatever night it’s played makes no difference. They play previous Friday, we play Saturday so it’s likely they play Tuesday , we play Wednesday, either way it won’t make a difference to the outcomes.

This slashing could be something totally unrelated to football and totally unrelated to Celtic (other than the fact that it happened inside Celtic Park). It could have happened anywhere.

Even the SMSM haven’t tried to smear Celtic with it……….yet.

100% correct. It was a disgraceful decision to ban 900 fans.12 fans arrested for the Banners,so 888 fans, guilty of what?.Shocking to see the North Curve empty during games, absolutely shocking. How they can justify this is beyond me.This ban affects me as I have paid for tickets in the section.

I know exactly what you are saying, however let’s see if this was Celtic related or not, I agree that the club over-reacted over banners and flares in the green brigade area, but remember that we are not in control of our destiny on UEFA nights, they can shut us down. We need to be smarter

The Green Brigade said very plainly that they chose to act as the did in the full knowledge that it would bring sanctions on themselves and Celtic.

Just catching up tonight . Correct about the two guys at the Wick , one is a rugby guy who is fine with Celtic but whom I barely know . The other is a good Tim , heavily involved with Junior teams recently ,known him for years . Good guy .Hope it does well . The Market Inn is heaving ;-)))

    Not sure who Michael is.

Re Astana I’ve sent the forms back and emailed them but had no response yet. Someone on the blog (might have been you) said we were being offered section 118.

No use to me. My old man won’t go there as he won’t be able to see properly. Normally we get moved but to decent seats. However with a full house likely then they’re maybe short of options.

  24. HAMILTONTIM @ 10:44 PM,

Great to hear, you often wonder about the guys who leave and pursue their career in foreign parts – taking a low profile regarding the Club but were so obviously were Celtic thru & thru…

I’m sure he’ll represent us well to the new and young players and in the media.

    Hail Hail

  25. Sad state of affairs if true, that BR has got involved in the GB situation. The man has more important things to address like Astana and transfers!!!! By the way I am a GB supporter, they bring a lot to Celtic Park but this is becoming a side show and is almost taking over what is happening on the pitch.

    I’m 107 CC, seats 1 & 2, sit with my daughter ( pluck a couple of mates)

Michael who looks in sits in106 BB, think seat 22, sits with Marie ? They have been there for many a year

Toor a loo is in 107 BB, just to side of me with his 2 kids,

CRC, also 107 AA, just along from you

Oh and I noticed Cosy corner Bhoy and his 2 daughters are also in 106 CC, must be about seat 21, as only 4 or 5 seats to right of me, used to be along nearer passageway, but appear to be moved in a bit

And yes I was offered 118

  27. Way off topic, the USPGA golf starts tomorrow and is on the BBC.

Coral are paying 10 places e/w, one fifth if the odds, which is as good as you will find. Most if the major bookies are now paying 8 places (bout time, with a field of 160 competitors!)

The best looking bets are the most obvious ones. Rory and Jordan Spieth. Rory has won at the course twice and has the course record (61) and Spieth is just remarkable, heading for a career slam at 24 if he wins here (younger than Tiger to put it in context, and he has a far more competitive peer group than Woods did at that stage).

If anyone is looking for more of an outside bet, Ricky Fowler has won at Quail hollow before, though he can be fragile in the home stretch and this course is famous for its penal last three holes, known as the Green Mile, they include a 250 yard par 3! He hits it straight though, and that will be big round this track. Fowler and Matsuamya are my two main bets this week.

Of the others, Thomas Pieters can be got at around 50/1, which might give a run for your money each way as he hits the ball for miles. His form hasn’t been as good this year as last year, though he did contend at Augusta, but he is a good end of season player and may find his game this week.

John Rahm and Justin Thomas definitely have the game to compete and I have bet both each way, though they will struggle as much with the real estate between their ears as they will with the course.if they can master themselves, either could win.

There is a dude at 250/1 called Hudson Swafford, who apart from having the best name ever, can actually play and is worth ten bob e/w for the sheer hell of it.

Apologies if this isn’t your thing and buyer beware applies to all the above :-). Very few people make money betting on golf but it does forgive a good interest if your watching on Sunday night.

Sorry for the diversion, back to cats etc.

P.S. a guy callled Ryan Fox is competing . Not sure if he is related to the parkhead fox of the 90’s

P.P.S. Justin Thomas’ caddie is called Jimmy Johnstone.

Goodnight and Good luck . Roberts and Caulker to sign would do me just fine.
