Kilmarnock v Celtic, Live updates

Live updates will appear below after 12:45.

There will be a mat on the Rugby Park pitch ahead of kick off today to draw attention to the fact that 70% of road deaths in Scotland occur on country roads.

The death rate is falling, from 124 in 2010, to 93 in 2011, to 87 in 2012, but this improvement will only be maintained by road users continuing to change habits, in particular, speeding.

You can find out more about Road Safety Scotland here.

  1. Fair play to Balde. I thought he looked all over the shop and has done little to inspire me anyway but he persisted and got his reward.

He’s gone one better than Bangura so lets hope that goal settles him and he goes on from here to be a good player for us.

Long spells of that game were hard to watch and I think it comes down to the midfield. Only Scott Brown appears to be in there at times and I’m not sure Charlie should be in there as much as he is.

Pleased with the win and the late goals but I think this is a team in transition.

Tuesday will be a very big test.

  2. Think about it – young boy in another country will limited English ( much better than my Portuguese) – still trying to settle – remember it took wanyama 6 months to get a regular spot in our first team – give the boy support and allow him time to settle as many others did before him – hh

  3. Sammi, well Deserved Accolades.

Celtic can be a wee bit frustrating at times on pace…..but a comfortable win in the end ….. Hail hail to big Sammi …. against another shower of cluggers…..and the ref, don’t start me on him…..

  5. The club should be speaking to the SFA and demand to know why it is only celtic players who get booked for celebrating goals. Putting fingers to lips and leaving the field of play. Dundee utd player scored last week and done both but nothing.

Have you managed to offload your friend’s tickets?

As i said earlier i feel a bit mercenary given your friend’s circumstances but would be happy to take them for the original price , only fair

  7. I wonder how many of the negative posters on here switched over at various intervals to the over hyped lge game. Celtic blog Celtic game on an some keeping tabs on game nothin to do with us sad

  8. Good warm up for Barca. Nice to see big Balde settle in and finish well; may be one of those players who needs a while and played in the right position – see stan Petrov 1999-2000.

Sammi – what can you say, yet there are still some feckless tubes who don’t rate him.

  9. My boss is Peter Principle on

Great 3 points. A few players in that killie side had a point to prove or a grudge to bare against us today add what I have read in the updates on here today about the ref…a good day out in ayrshire

Spot on hendrix67 the club should be asking why they are the only team who get booked after scoring.

    KLV

  11. Excellent game, delighted with the result.

Heart goes out t big balde, a young man in a strange land learning his trade.Slaughtered for one mistake by some who have his tried and convicted after 10 mins of football.Delighted with his goal.

Thank god CQN wasnt about after Henrik’s for game.

  12. Amido is a baby in a country he can’t speak the language. He gets it, though. Sammi the supreme Greek Archer.

  13. It should be noted that all posters on here are all top of the notch ex-footballers that have a divine right to chastise young players in a new country new language new environment, jeeeezzzz give the guy a break. Well done amido!!!

  14. Walker has to be the biggest soup taker on the media, it really is cringeworthy listening to this man, no morals like the rest of his family, tossing pensioners furnished items out on the street during the poll tax crises, not nice people.

  15. Balde is young a rough diamond

It will take a couple of years but with good coaching , his height , strength , pace will come to the fore. If Watt can develop abroad these 2 could be leading the line in a couple of seasons. Balde only needs to look at the development of Sammi in the last 2 years.

    Sammi different class today.

I can’t quite put my finger on it but there is something about Pukki’s body language and general demeanour that doesn’t give me a warm fuzzy feeling. Maybe I’m being unfair but he doesn’t strike me as being a happy bunny.

Let me help you put your finger on it, it’s called negativity, but don’t worry you are in good company on here with certain posters

    Glad to be of help

    …………………………………………………

Thanks for your assistance in this matter. I don’t know how I would have coped without it. I supported every Celtic player on the field today and didn’t criticise anyone of them including Pukki whom I hope will be a great success for us. However, if I see something of interest then I reserve the right to comment on it.

As for you, just keep on being positive and I’m sure your efforts will inspire our Bhoys to wondrous achievements.

  17. CultsBhoy loves being 1st forever & ever on

Balde might have a lot of natural ability, technique, physical presence but he has a lot to learn about how to play the game. Jury is out for me.

  18. The new guys must have time to bed in, and need a break from some in here.

    They are wearing the hoops.

And we did wait nearly 3 years for Sammy to be a hero, so think about it, give them a chance.

On Tuesday I am looking forward to the game, what happens ? Who knows. Just enjoying the game and watching the skills will do me.

Win or loos we will learn some thing from it. Hail Hail.

  19. CultsBhoy loves being 1st forever & ever on

Pukki looks like he’s keen to impress – always a good start for a new player

  20. CultsBhoy loves being 1st forever & eve

The jury should be out for everyone. This was his first competitive league game coming off the bench for the last 10 mins.

Can anyone form a firm conclusion on that evidence?

No ones raving about him,so no one should be writing him off either without proper analysis. Comments like “carthorse” say more about the poster than about the player.

A poor retort. Watching Puuki, I was thinking the same; he looks dissatisfied, but I suspect that’s with himself as he looks to fit in with our system.

Possibly not 100% match-fit and mentally sharp, which would contribute to his general demeanour. Not ‘unhappy’ as in with Celtic, but annoyed at his own current level of performance.

  22. Listen all you experts,I have not heard anyone slagging off Balde.More like Lenny for not giving the boy a chance.Too many ready on here to jump on any bandwagon they can.Ok the boy scored today, does not make him the wonder player we need.Tell you what though,I would play him on Tuesday. We are not going to bother Barca too much from open play, but with 6 foot 5 Balde in the mix at set pieces, alongside our other giants,it will worry them.An overall poor display from many players today,no problem with that,I dont slag individuals, but Sammi was a gem.3 great goals.

Pukki again was anonymous. One great shot is not enough. The boy looks like,as I said 1st time I saw him, looks like he plays in the hole.Could be great link up player with a good striker. Not an out and out striker.Maybe Lenny has realised this, hence the rumours of a striker in Jan.

Who really cares ?.3 points is 3 points.Top of the league.Bring on the Supermen.

  23. Efe and Virgil immense again. They two drive the Celtic forward. I pray Amido makes it. That bhoy wants it.

  24. Perfectly happy with that scoreline.

    Sammi superb!

Delighted for Amido – took his goal well. Bhoy needs more game time – could possibly have come on sooner for Pukki who had a quiet game, but almost scored his third goal in three games. Also needs more game time.

Hope Adam recovers from his virus – would have him at LB on Tuesday instead of Izzy who was at fault for their second goal.

Pascali should have been penalised for pushing into Sammi at the free-kick – we all saw it but the mib and the assistant did not. No surprise there then!

The fat pie-munching Mauchline hun – Boyd – is absolute mince!

    Happy!

    Bring on the Barca!

One final thought – the BMCUW hootenanny should just be warming up.

Gallowgate here they come! Lock up yer daughters missus!

    HH!!

  25. The Battered Bunnet on

Crazy game. Top marks to the Greek Cúchulainn for carrying the standard.

First half – I was wondering if the Celtic players were stoned. Maybe Virgil had found a wee stash and got his team mates toked up on the bus on the way to the game. Then Matthews heaves his breakfast and I’m asking if the team got a load of food poisoning at the hotel. Really, we were that poor.

Pukki and Stokes were so isolated from their midfield that they’d have been as well outside in the demo against Michael Johnstone, largely because we couldn’t find a man with a pass and lost possession long before the ball got anywhere near the forwards.

    And we scored 5 goals.

    Mental.

A triumph of Samaras over substances.

  26. My biggest worry for Balde was that he was going to be remembered for scoring in that friendly against Liverpool in the way Mo Bangura is with the scoring in bounce games.

He’s now overcome that and I really hope he kicks on.

I was excited when we got this boy but up to now he’s looked awkward and lacking a touch or team player.

If he’s a rough diamond then fine but lets hope the polish works with this one.

He should be a good player given his size, power and pace and remember this is the guy who said he’d have us saying Gary who? Well let’s hope this is the start of something good for this boy.

  27. I have the benefit of actually having studied body language modules both at a theoretical and practical level. It has a wide use in analysing many forms of behaviour but has a very limited application as a tool on a football pitch because it has been so little studied.

There are no objective studies , of which I am aware, re footballer’s body language, but it seems a body of experts have, nevertheless managed to emerge, without benefit of textbook or practical peer-reviewed research.

Until someone publishes their data, I will treat all such claims as unprovable assertions and likely attributions.

P.S. I thoroughly enjoyed the game but I remain as fearful about Barca as I was before the game today.
