Kuhn and the 60 game threshold

199

If you are looking for a (football) gem, you need to do some (data) mining.  Jota was unearthed after a spell on the Valladolid bench.  For 18 months, Nicolas Kuhn (24) has ploughed a furrow on the Rapid Vienna right wing.  Just as Kuhn left Munich for Vienna, Rapid were deducted points for various financial failings, including not submitting accounts on a timely manner.

They currently occupy 6th spot in the Austrian Bundesliga, slightly closer to relegation than championship contenders.  For context, the side two places above them in the table had an average home crowd last season of 2,537.  Rapid are by far the best supported side in the country, but they are a model of disfunction.

Nicolas has made a total of 60 first team appearances, almost half of them in the German second tier (on loan from Bayern at Erzgebirge Aue).  How many appearances a player has made before joining Celtic is a metric you and I discuss often.  60 is just about enough to fire up some interesting stats and have the player scouted, but not so many that he will attract clubs from the wealthy leagues.

This has been his breakthrough season, he started less than half Rapid’s league games last term but has been first choice for all but one game this season (he was carrying a knock that day).  All I know for sure is that we are passing up players we like this month to concentrate on players we want.  If he arrives, he fulfils the latter category.

Also, he was born on the first day of the new millennium.  You feel old now, don’t you?

  1. Liel Abada leaving Celtic?

Liel Abada being driven out of the club by 267 political activists and their hangers-on?

Liel Abada moving away because he is Jewish and because an entitled, accommodated and appeased minority in our support hate him, his countrymen and his country.

    A CLUB OPEN TO ALL?

A miniscule militant section of the support now blackmailing the club and de facto dictating who plays for it.

Rest assured no other Israeli player will give Celtic the time of day henceforth.

The Green Babies spout about Brother Walfrid, the origin of the club in the poor community when it suits their case – let’s face it, they are just a bunch of self-serving virtue-signalling hypocrites – driven by hatred, costing the club hundreds of thousands in fines and traducing our reputation at home and abroad. No doubt if and when Liel does go, we will see another foodbank collection to camouflage it – talk about the obvious. How many times have they pulled this trick before?

If the club do not deal with these anti-supporters, then they will carry on their war of attrition and inflicting ‘death by a thousand cuts’……. whilst playing the victim card.

If you are about, I’ll be back in Glasgow on Monday. Maybe organise a meeting of the Shipbank Shipwrecks for Friday 26th January.

  3. How many crosses do these wingers put into the box?

How many goals have come from the crosses?

How many goals from the wingers taken corners?

What kind of manager fails to not only recognise the unplayable pace of Maeda, Kyogo, Johnston, etc, but also fails to play a ball over the top to utilise this unplayable pace?

Brendan develops the players against vastly imbalanced in terms of quality and resources opposition teams domestically…but who develops a manager that has regressed since his first stint in charge being continually turned over in European football like his first spell at the club all the while diminishing Celtic`s status as a club?

Do the PLC ever boot Brendan`s baws for refusing to recognise and in effect ruin these mentioned players talents or do they get some anonymous person to send him an unsigned letter like they do with the SFA etc?

At an accountable to no one club how will we ever know?

AGM`s and propriety favoured balance sheets are just smoke and mirrors sketches.

Anybody who believes a single word that the PLC says on any issue is there to be took.

A domestically successful club in a one horse environment since 2012 will attract lazy spoiled and entitled supporters.

A bent club will attract bent supporters.

A leaderless club will attract leaderless supporters.

A deceitful club will attract deceitful supporters.

Super Joe McHugh and the utterly wonderful VideoCelts.com being the exception to that deceitful supporter base.

Living on your knees throwing millions of £`s at corrupt PLC snakes is now what constitutes supporting Celtic.

Real Celtic fans would not lazily tolerate a PLC who would throw your comrades under a bus if the media demands it ala the Green Brigade who still would be banned if Brendan`s vulnerable team had not shipped a worrying amount of points.

Its a long while since Celtic have had real fans…long way before all seating.

Example 1. Real Celtic fans even in 2003 would not have booed Neil Lennon as he tried to retain possession of the ball during our first in 33 years European Semi Final vs Boavista in our tie at Parkhead (Celtic Park) is a propriety brand name btw.

Example 2. Real Celtic fans would not have waved £10, £5, etc, notes at Gretna FC fans as they just heard that their club was going into administration…Mr Stein would have been organising `Save Gretna` benefit games…where is the class indeed?

Example 3. Real Celtic fans would not have sat on their hands if their comrades were `kettled` by SNP Police force and the executive did its usual silence of the wee scared Timmy lambs act.

Example 4. Real Celtic fans would not have voted for the SNP who brought out laws to put Celtic fans in jail.

The blue and red Tory`s are utterly evil but show me where they specifically made a song and dance before they brought out laws aimed at jailing Celtic fans whilst ignoring laws already in place to arrest Rangers fans like the utterly hideous and crooked and hun-ugly SNP did????

    Snakes on a plane FC.

  4. Watched Kuhn on You Tube.Very quick, which is nice.Looks the business.Looking at his stats for this season,3 goals and 7 assists,is a tad misleading. The amount of stone wallers he laid on,and were, somehow missed by a front 2 Dessers clones was unbeievable.Should be reading,17 assists.

    Born to wear the Hoops.Jotaesque.

  5. If Abaca wants to leave, and I place no faith in the Celtic hating Mail, dont care what lickspittle wrote it,I would not blame him. Most people we know would not play for the scum, with their hatred, songs ,banners, being waved in their face every game.Have no idea if this affects Abada,,but it might. If he does go,it won’t be us pushing him to.Instead of PL,you can put the blame elsewhere.

  6. Thosee mentioning a keeper ,obviously paying no heed to BR.He said,a couple of times

” A new keeper is not a priority in this window”

I dont agree, but maybe ,just maybe,no one available

  7. At the recent old firm game. Ha, had you going there.

The recent Derby game of course, Liel Abada got the loudest cheer of all the substitutes.

He is a much regarded player and member of the Celtic family.

Of course a minority may disagree same as a minority may never take to Rod Stewart who incidentally celebrated his birthday yesterday. Rod has been following Celtic before many of his detractors were even born.

    So what. Big deal.

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names and flags will never hurt me.

The Daily Mail article may yet prove to be right, they have a decent football coverage but they are no friends of Celtic.

  8. Hearing that the International court set to hear genocide case against Israel who have murdered at least 14,000 children in Gaza.

And we have some on here who, for the want of a better word seem to be championing this slaughter. . .

Strange days have found us indeed.

  9. ” A striker,but not an immobile Shankland”

    S

Yes because everybody hates ” Immobile strikers ” that scores loads of goals.Rather have a very mobile one, that does’nt.Somebody like,Silva,Lammers,Dessers,,the fantastic strike team of the team that’s giving quite a few the jitters.Minus Lammers now,who left Ibrox in a very mobile manner.

  10. lets all do the huddle on

Rod Stewart has also been singing before most of us were born but his music is still shite – and its not like im not a fan of 60s and 70s sounds, nothing could be further from the truth, but ive never got into his pish

We don’t need your Colin Stein Eusebio or Alan Gilzean we’ve got someone twice as good we’ve got Harry Harry Hood

*you missed out the next verse; Harry Harry Harry Hood hauf the money but twice as good.

I luved Harry but it wasn’t always this way, we had tried tae sign him but he opted for Sunderland, so he was “deid” as far as I was concerned but this goes back tae when I was younger and we were after another Bully Wee player Tommy Ring, who had won 2 SC’s with them and in fact scored the winner in the 1955 replay against us.

Tommy, like Harry, came fae a Celtic minded family but rejected us and possibly for the same reason, biscuit tin mentality, Tommy was a star at first at Goodison but after a broken leg moved tae Barnsley and when that didnae work out headed back up the road tae Pittodrie but only played 2 games for them.

Prior to signing for the sheep, a young high school me excitedly suggested to my da that we should go back in for him to which he replied “naw son you only get one chance tae sign for the Celtic” or words tae that effect, now we could say what about Tommy McInally, Willie Fernie or wee ten thirty who cum back but we had sold them, they never turned us down.

After an unsuccessful period down there due mainly to a hernia problem even though he had scored the winner in his debut against manure Harry was deemed surplus to requirements and so was back up the road tae Shawfield where he starred for them as they finished 3rd in the League and took us tae replay in the Scottish in our most successful season ever of 1967, and if it hadn’t been for a sensational performance over both games by Wispy, filling in at right half for Bobby Murdoch, he would have been man of both matches.

So, 2 year later, I’m out here for my first sojourn and when standing on the streets of Toronto on being told we had signed him I was pissed off as I remembered what my da had said about only getting one shot at pullin the hoops on, but lets fast forward 6 months and I’m back hame standing in the Celtic end at hades chanting with my fellow exuberant Tims “Oh Harry Harry, Harry Harry, Harry Harry, Harry Hood as he slotted home the winner for us.

“Oh, Harry Harry Lou Macari Kevin Barry Harry Hood” felt like a green brigadier there.

  12. Tontine Tim,

Yes, I remember the chant. The huns were so inventive all they could come up with was Oh f@ ck your Harry etc.

Hard ro believe they were so ” thick ” when the likes of Allan Glen’ s school was in its prime. Part of the problem was that many of the intellectual Alan Glen” pupils supported us.

    They used to say :-

The good, the bad and the ugly

    Jock Stein

    Colin Stein

    Frankenstein

    Cheers and HH.

I don’t have a scobbie if Rod Stewart would play Israel. But Google the list of artists who have played there. It is extensive.

Apart from Maggie May, I don’t really like Rod Stewart.

So what, but he has been a Celtic fan and major promotor for many years.

I also detest Adam Crozier after recent revelations but seemingly he is a massive Celtic fan.

A club open to all ensures a broad church.

    HH,

PS : What Israel is currently doing is immoral and abhorrent.

  14. I posted on here towards the end of last season after reading an article on CQN bigging up Mikey Johnston.

That I feared that we would sell Jota and bring back Mikey .

My current fear is that we will sell Abada and replace him with Khun .

The bank balance will improve ,but the goals scored will reduce .

A fit Abada will score much more goals than Khun .

  15. A bit like us with Opus Dei and the 3rd Order of St Francis where there are different levels of the Catholic faith and those 2 are at completely opposites ends of the spectrum, I know as I am a member of one of them and toyed with the other, so are other faiths such as Judaism, now I have no idea what one Liel belongs to but I do remember not long after he had joined us that he was allowed to miss some games due tae a particular time in his religion when he was obliged to abstain, can NEVER recall big Nir doing that, in fact he is recorded as one of our largest trophy winners, even though he was a member of IDF, so mibbees just mibbees Liel isnae comfortable playing in front of our anti fascist support

  23. King Lugo,

I have seen a lot of Shankland.Funny thing is,I always get distracted by his goals.Never heard of mobility winning games.Kyogo super mobile, great finisher, playing up front for most attacking team in the league, yet Shankland has scored more goals.

Not his agent, and I would have Miovski before him, similar mover, off the shoulder,to Kyogo,Bye the way, both have done OK in their European games. We need a striker to help us through the season,in the meantime.Any of the two would do that.In comparison,we are being quoted £ 7.5 million, for a striker with a very poor goals record, who would need time to settle. This season,my worry, next will look after itself.
