LAWWELL SALUTES ‘REMARKABLE’ RODGERS

1

PETER LAWWELL has hailed boss Brendan Rodgers’ “remarkable” achievements with a Celtic squad consisting of players from Ronny Deila’s reign.

The Hoops gaffer led his team to a resounding 3-0 midweek Champions League victory over Andrelcht in Brussels, their first away victory in the group stages since 3-2 triumph over Spartak Moscow in 2012.

Lawwell said: “It’s been remarkable, the majority of the players that appeared for the first team each week and appeared on Wednesday were at Celtic with Ronny before Brendan came.

“So he’s done an incredible job, he’s an outstanding manager and outstanding coach and I’m delighted for him.

“The amount of work he and the coaches put in, the way the players have developed and the way they are performing, it’s been remarkable, really.”

Norwegian Deila won two Premiership titles and one League Cup during his time at Parkhead before departing at the end of the 2015/16 season.
