League pivots south, not quite Atlantic League

635

Back-to-back away games are statistically more likely to result in points being dropped than any other games (especially if one is a European game), so the probability of Aberdeen dropping points in Inverness last night was high. Their second night-game in the same week, on Friday at Firhill, will also be a genuine challenge.  I can’t find enough occurrences of a team having two away games in the same midweek to draw any statistical inference but I’m glad it’s Aberdeen’s lot, not Celtic’s.

That result felt profound.  Celtic can use the opportunity of a quiet week to prep for the visit of Inverness. A Highland double would go a long way towards the title.

On the “Atlantic League” story, little detail has been reported on what’s happened (ignore what has been reported) and where it’s heading.  The project is not at a mature stage yet, it’s not an Atlantic League, it’s not a collaboration of clubs from small nations, and no lower league clubs, anywhere, have been involved.  Apart from that, the story’s fine.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has kicked the sleeping dog.  We’ll see where he barks.

Time is running out for you to register for the Celtic Park Zip Slide, in aid of the Foundation, which takes place next month.  I did it last year and it was genuinely exhilarating.  Go here and register.

Marcus did not put us to the sword. The saddest day in his career was when his boyhood team Celtic released him. He has been rejuvenated at Ross County since his cruciate ligament injury. Unfortunately he dislocated his shoulder in Paradise on Saturday. :(

Great equaliser from Obi-Mikel. Zlatan’s free kick took a massive deflection to beat Courtois in goal for Chelski.

I was Marcus’s heidie at Primary school. Lovely lad. Not only a great footballer but a very good 600m runner. EDC Primary school champion. His sister teaches beside my wife.

My sister and brother in law were in your area with their half Celtic, half RC scarves on though. :)

Wish my Polish grandad was still alive to tell you his story of post war racism in Glasgow. He came here to save the British Isles. He changed his name because he knew his 10 children would be victims of racism if they carried his very Polish name. Saddens my heart that I have got a Scottish surname when it should be my proper Polish one.

Yes,mate. Just popped into the office for some paperwork.

  13. If I was a manager, if any player took his shirt off after scoring, or celebrated scoring a goal in front of the away support, (needless bookings) I would dock him a weeks wages, utter stupidity that could lead to a sending off or a ban, same goes for constantly moaning at the ref that gets a booking”
